Lovely course, fast greens, not the quickest pace of play but can be expected on public holiday
Good days golf
The greens and fairways were really good .it was like putting on the carpet at home..ball rolled true.there was only 11 holes open because of rain the day before.but really enjoyed the day and food was good too
Only 11 holes in play
Paid €30 just to be told when we arrived that only 11 holes were in play. However we were allowed to loop back around to complete 18. There was little to no signage indicating tee box locations which made navigating difficult especially since nearly half the holes weren’t in play. Would never have worked it out if it were not for the friendly members who corrected us. However the course was still in decent condition for the conditions and time of year and would be a good course in the summer. Food was great value and staff were very friendly. Will definitely be back in summer.
Balcarrick
Played balcarrick on Wednesday, paid up front and when we arrived told that only 11 holes were playable. No way should the money be taken up front or at least offer a refund prior to the game.
Layout for the 11 playable holes was poor as we had to walk from the 3rd to the 11th with no sign posting.
Very disappointing as the course is generally nice.
Excellent Golfing experience at a very reasonable rate
We arrived at the course and was greeted by the golf shop staff who was very accommodating and friendly. We were able to get a nice coffee in the Pro shop which was well kitted out with all the best brands and equipment and all at very reasonable rates, The putting green and practice area was grand although there was no chipping area. The course was quite challenging under windy conditions but was quite far with a mixture of short and long holes and a lot of water hazards on the course which was great. The course was in great condition for the time of year . After the golf we went into the clubhouse for a pint. The staff again were very friendly and the clubhouse was very nice and there was a lovely smell of food coming from the kitchen. Although we had no food there were a few other golfers tucking in and the food looked lovely. Overall it was a very pleasant golfing experience and we will definitely be back at some stage.
Hole in 1
Really enjoyed my game at Balcarrick. Ground was hard so ball ran on a bit. Got my 1st hole in 1 on the 16th. I'll never forget this game of golf!
Hidden gem
