only took us 12 years to get round to play this course !
In July 2009 we were in Dublin for a gig, (u2 360), to kill time we went out to Bull Island and went to get a beer in the clubhouse, we had such a fine welcome we vowed one day to come back and play golf here also.
Everything about our experience was 5star. From check in where there was a problem with the tour agent, booking that was sorted for us, through to the assistant pro who checked us in, perfectly managed.
The course was a very enjoyable track, none of us scored great, but with a winning score of 33 points, i was pretty happy, with alternate holes into the prevailing wind and downwind, this made for a more interesting links experience than the usual 9 out and 9 in. the final 3 holes were really great, would hate to be hanging onto a good medal score with the wind blowing into your face, and needing to nett par home.
We ate in the lounge, the food was well priced and also good quality, the service was great from the kitchen and club steward, overall we had the most warmest of welcomes to any golf club, we have ever travelled to. We will certainly return !
Thank you all
Not very user friendly
It was most confusing not having Tee numbers on each hole . No map on the score card to help visitors around the course.
Timing
Our booking time in addition to delay at course meant we only got to play 11 holes, poor value for fee paid
Nice Course
Played this course at 3.20 and just about finished before it got dark. Lovely course, in great condition. Greens weren't too hard, but in very good condition. Really enjoyable game, and I shot a good score to make it even better.
Excellent Links Experience
This was my first time on a true links course and it was a great experience. I'm sure I will play more difficult courses while I'm here but St Anne's is a true test of links golf. The conditions where normal for this time of year (overcast with a little drizzle & windy)and thank god it wasn't too windy otherwise I would have rated it extremely difficult. I'd say if you can get the Golfnow deal at 45 EUR then this course is a must.
St Anne's May 2019
A tough test of links golf.
Some of the holes are very similar and not memorable.
I did not like the water hazards on two of the par 5s - not true links golf and difficult to know the lay-up distances.
Yardage books not available in the Pro's shop.
6 on the last always spoils the memory of a course but overall very good.
True links golf
Fantastic links course close to Dublin center. Staff was friendly and helpful. Course was dry but that has to be expected due to drought conditions. Middle of course 12, 13 14 and 15 are wonderful holes. Not a fan of 18. But overall a spectacular place.
Fun course
We got a GolfNow deal which was pretty reasonable. Very blustery day which was actually fun to figure out yardage. Some holes were a bit damp but overall was good. Pace of play was good as the 2 of us did it in 3.5 hours. Liked the layout Andy nice views. Would recommend!
St Anne’s Dublin
The course was ok with no memorable holes. Greens were good and true except one. Some work being undertaken to drain recent rain from bunkers. I read the course was rated in top 50 links courses in Ireland which in my opinion is incorrect. Glad I didn’t pay full €110 price. Whilst Golf Now price was far more acceptable it’s not a courseci would rush back to play.
November golf
St Anne’s is a beautiful tough course in the middle of Dublin town, fairways and greens immaculate for anytime of the year but exceptional for November, unfortunately rough was tough so next time I’m going to try harder to find a few fairways! My playing partners assured me they were great!!!
Superb value for money as usual with Golfnow and heading back to find a fairway or two next week....
Good enjoyable course
Good links course without all the dunes of many others. The course is laid out with all holes visible, however the wind can make shot selection tricky.
Enjoyed the game here.
Good course if you pay by golf now. Too much if you pay the fulö price.
