Great Experience
I grew up in the Pinellas County area and moved away 30 yrs ago. I can't believe I never played this jewel. Challenging yet fair. Most of all I found the club staff and pro very cordial and friendly. Would recommend this coarse! Great value!!
Historic and challenging
Dunedin CC is a very historic golf course in the fact that it is not only a Donald Ross design but, at one time, was the home of the PGA. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant offered an excellent menu and the cart girl was always available on the course.
The fairways are very thin with grass at this writing and several fairways had areas that were barren; however, the greens were in excellent condition. I should mention that all greens will be going through their aerification and top dressing phase around the 28th of April so one might keep this in mind. Dunedin CC offers numerous tees to suit one's game and can be quite challenging from the Blue tees. Although Dunedin CC appears to be very compact and short, don't be fooled. The bunkering and elevated Donald Ross greens are a true test of golf. I truly enjoyed my round of golf despite a few "scratchy fairways" which did not diminish the enjoyment.
Best course around
This is a beautiful course, greens were fabulous.
Pristein condition. I will definately be back!
Greens were good
Fairways need a lot of work. Greens were pretty good
Rough condition
I was excited to play this Donald Ross design course. I probably would have enjoyed the course more if the fairways and greens were in better condition. Fairways were in really poor repair many bald spots with little or no grass. Greens you expect to be tough on a Ross design however not from a condition perspective. Overall I was disappointed
Donald Ross Challenge
A challenging course for the average golfer. Donald Ross greens always make the course interesting and difficult. The practice facility needs work. We were told to hit off mats which needed updating. The staff was very friendly. I would recommend the course to anyone visiting the area.
Rainy Day
Overall the course is in good condition. The greens are in excellent condition. Some of the fairways are bare in spots on some holes but dont let this stop you from playing this true representation of an old Florida course.
Nice Experience
First time we played the course and we all found it to be a nice track. Course condition, overall, was good. Don't let the greens fool you. They can be very tricky!! If it wasn't so far from our home we would certainly play there again. Staff, from pro shop to restaurant, were all wonderful!! We would definately recommend it to others.
This course has a little bit of everything for a golfer
We had a foursome , the weather and course could not have been more pleasing. Lunch then a great game of golf. Doesn't get any better.
Fairways need work
Most fairways were in rough condition. Around the greens are terrible. Tee boxes are torn up. The only saving grace is the greens. They are smooth and fast. The last time I played it was pretty slow going and the time before was even slower way too many people on the course.
Classic Donald Ross design
This is a course worth playing. It was designed by Donald Ross and that is evident from the long fairways and elevated greens surrounded by bunkers. The course is old with mature trees on every hole. Unfortunately it rained for almost the entire round so my experience was compromised but it is a great course and worth playing if you can.
Wonderful, historic course
Beautiful course. Wide fairways, nice greens. It was such a pleasure to play the course that so many of the greats played. Many history trees. The landscaping was perfect. I also noted that there were not a lot of crows trying to raid the golf carts. I will most definitely play here again
Gets worse every time I play it
There are bare spots in the fairways, greens have a ton of ball marks and totally discolored. This is a beautiful course with a marvelous layout. Looks like the maintenance is going down hill fast. Kitchen closes at 5pm so forget about dinner. Nice patio area to watch golfers approach the 13th green as you drink your 19th hole beer. Had fun but continue to be disappointed. Not worth the big money they ask to play here.
Glad I played it.
Course conditions were OK as "Winter Rules" apply. Starter paired me up with a "local" and staterd on number 10 where I saw a sign that stated Winter Rules. OK. That always applies to me. God forbid I pay more than $20 and have a bad lie in the fairway, just kidding. Back nine fairways were patchy. Front nine fairways better but still patchy. All 18 greens perfect at moderate speed. I holed many putts from 10 feet and in. Overall good course at Hotdeal price. Fun time.
Dont bother
I'm not sure what golf course the previous reviewers played, but this dogtrack isn't worth $10. I will say the greens were in good shape and rolled true. But the rest of the golf course is shot out. It is a good classic Donald Ross design golf course that is fun to play but the conditions made the round frustrating at best. I wouldn't go back here until they've had a few months to fix their Fairway problems. There was not enough grass anywhere to hit a shot off of except for tee boxes. Definitely not worth the money they are charging
Did not live up to the hype
This course had such a high rating, my friends and I decided to give it a try. We are always lookin for great places to play. Based on the course condition the day we play, I would suggest that this is $25-$26 golf course. I enjoyed the course layout and would definitely go back and play it again but the course feels that their storied history warrants a much higher price than the course deserves.
overpriced
Very disappointing golfing experience. Partners wanted to play here since they had played here before. So I expected much better. The greens were quite good, but that was it. Fairways, particularly on the back nine, were terrible!
not enough grass, playing on dirt
Greens and tee boxes in great shape in between was very little grass mainly dirt, course is not reseeded for winter
