Centennial Driving Range 7.29.13 Photo submitted by harkin1 on 07/30/2013
Great public course and great views! Gotta play when your in the area or visiting the ny state !price is pretty high but it worth the price!
Excellent course, but expensive.
Centennial is a very nice operation, good driving range, challenging course, good facility. However, it is a little more expensive than most other local courses.
Challenging greens
Nice layout ,need better steps on some of the green side steps to cart paths
It’s a nice layout.
Probably if it wasn’t discounted on Golfnow, Groupon etc there wouldn’t have been as many non golfers on the course. 5 hour rounds and waiting on every other shot is not the way to encourage players to try the course. I’ve played there at full price and pace of play was decent.
Great Round
This may have been my last round of the year and I am glad that I ended it with a round a Centennial in late November. The course was in great shape and the staff was excellent. I enjoyed the pre round warm up, the range and short game area are world class. Always a great time!
Great value with golfnow but this course is way overpriced compared to other area courses in better shape, certainly would not pay normal rate
Great layout.. Better deal
Course played great for early november.. Greens were in terrific condition .. Caught a $12 Monday round for 18 and a cart ..
Great Layout but way overpriced
Play Centennial quite a bit as its 10 minutes from home. The cost to play is absolutely ridiculous unless you get a deal on-line or play twilight. The greens are never in great shape and the staff can sometimes be quite unfriendly. The course itself is awesome as far as layout, views, elevation changes and water. Not too tough tee to green but once you get around the greens it can beat you up. Recommend you check it out but ONLY if you can get a deal. Its not worth $140.00!
Painfully slow
The course is nice obviously and very challenging. However, for a Wednesday 130pm tee time in late October should not equal a 3 hour front 9. My group and the group ahead of us called the pro shop over a handful of times to get a ranger out....and no one ever came. Sad.
The only bright spot was the starter apologized and said he would discount my next round.....if he or I will remember. Kind of a moot point.
Great Experience!
This is a great course with a great layout. The holes seem to play long but are extremely well designed. Greens weren't in the best shape, but the beautiful scenic course makes up for a little bumpiness.
Great except for greens
great course layout; fairways and tees were in fabulous shape; sand traps also nice. Only disappointment were the greens.
All cartpaths
Course is beautiful to look at and horrible to play. You can't drive the carts on the fairways even though you should be able to. Every tee box requires at least a 20 yard walk. Then you hit a shot. Drive on the cartpaths and then walk 40 yards to your ball. Hit walk back to the cart. Drive and then walk again. The round took at least 5 hours to play and not at all pleasent. A waste of an otherwise good course.
Challenging & Intimidating!
Course was in great shape. This course is not for the faint hearted or beginner. Average player needs to keep it in fairway to even think of playing bogey golf. Beautiful vistas and friendly staff. This course keeps you humble!
Not worth the price
For a course that is $130 for a round it gets 3 stars. For that price it better be one of the finest course in the tri-state area and it is not. I play at least once a week and don't play the same course twice if I can help it.
I have played this course before but the prices have gone crazy in the last few years. The views are spectacular. The fairways are in great condition. The greens were aerated, but still in pretty good condition considering. But the layout is pretty weak. There are many holes where hitting a 200yrd or less drive is the ideal position. This might seem great for some, but not for a course that boasts as a premier track. I'm not a crazy long hitter either. Too many holes felt like gimmicks to fit the topography. Making 27 holes out of a layout that could have been an amazing 18 hole is a lost opportunity. If the cost was $85 then the rating would be higher, but for half the price you can play Architects which is light years better. And for just slightly less you can play Wild Turkey or Balleyoween which are expensive but there are no gimmick holes and worth the price.
