Richter Park Golf Course

The course was in very good condition, staff was very friendly.

It took FIVE HOURS to play this round. The foursome that was 2 groups ahead of us had three holes open in front of them. There was a ranger cruising around the course, but he apparently didn’t say anything to the foursome. Very frustrating.

Great staff, Course was in great shape; sandy as the rain was coming which put the staff into high gear with the prep of the course and greens.

I’ll start by saying this is an amazing public facility, the front nine was stunning and magnificent with most holes bordering the lake on that side of the road, once you cross the road into the woods the course clearly has some issues with drainage, 3 fairways were in bad shape but I don’t know if there’s anything they can do they are low lying and collecting water and recieve limited sunlight. Great layout. I’m originally from Danbury and am in my 50’s so I was around when Richers was pristine.
In recent years I’ve heard some negativity but had no negative experiences this time. I don’t play there often as I’ve moved away but the last two times past two years has been fine.
Fantastic layout, best around, scenic, etc. Although last time I was unimpressed with the attitude of the Bossman informing the Pro shop how there were no rain checks. I understand the policy, but interpersonal behavior should be a higher priority in my view.
None of that this time but only dealt with teen in pro shop and starter. Both very pleasant.
Good to see rangers on the course as well.

The fro n t nine is in excellent shape and pace of play was terrific. We finished in 4.15 hours.

The back nine has three holes that need serious attention and it takes away from the entire experience.
However, the staff listened and we will certainly return to play again.

Have not played here since 2020, course is challenging with lots of elevation changes and hazards. Many fairways are in real bad shape, worse than the rough. Pace of play was really slow. They squeezed in a small practice range next to no 10,.. have to careful, got hit by a practice ball goin up to 10th green although they put up a net. Practice ball all over 18th fairway too. Many fairways like 11,14,16 are basically swamps, cart paths only. Some greens are in pretty bad shape too.

The layout is fantastic and it must be very scenic with foliage. The conditions were generally good, with the exception of standing water in a couple of low lying fairways adjacent to the humus bogs. We had significant rainfall the night before so we weren’t surprised, but either better drainage or elevating these fairways would be an improvement. The remaining course was very good considering the rain and we’ll definitely be returning.
