Course is getting rundown
I have always loved Centennial, the course has a great design, and the greens are quite challenging. I just played it and it seems like they’re letting the course go. I was in the Teebox and thought I was standing on something and noticed that there was just bare ground underneath my foot. Some of the tee boxes were quite patchy (grass/dirt). The carts do not have GPS and while riding down the cart path you feel like you’re off roading. Mind you, this course gets a premium for a round of golf so one would expect to find GPS is in the carts. I booked through GolfNow and while they would normally give you range balls if you purchased directly through them, they nickel and dime you for range balls when you book through GolfNow ($10 for small bucket of range balls. Finally, I have used a lot of websites to book tee-times, but theirs often makes you click a separate link. It’s just kind of surprising in this day and age where probably most tee-times are booked online, their website is so crummy.
Review
Course is always top notch. However, we were charged $140.00 for the round yet every single green was air rated. We love this course but under these circumstances the price of $140.00 a head was unreasonable. Not even a heads up when the tee time was booked.
Lakes and Fairways
Awesome set up. Played lakes for the front and fairways on the back. Very picturesque course with very nice elevation change and forgiveness. Recommend lakes to start to have more wide open landing zones because fairways can get tight. Comp it to patriot hills in stony point.
Great day at Centennial
Hadn't played it in a few years. Saw a good price for a single on this site yesterday. Course is best shape I can remember. Greens really fast and tricky. Got around in 3.5 hours on beautiful Sunday afternoon, walking. They have plenty of drinking water on the course. A rarity these days.
Always a great course
All and all a great course. Tee boxes were a little beat up, but understandable due to the heavy rain.
Excellent Course
Challenging layout, greens in very good shape. I played Lakes and Meadows early. Meadows and Fairways in the afternoon.
Course extremely over priced
The bunkers were not raked. You couldn’t play out of them. It is absolutely not worth $150
Great course but pricey
Public/private course so of course it's a little more than the public courses in Westchester and you get a free bucket of balls to warm up with, which is nice. Overall, a truly beautiful course that's worth it once in a while.
. Lakes and Fairways
the course is in great shape and the greens make it very challenging
Great Course
Yes it’s expensive for a public course in the area, but it feels secluded, quiet and very peaceful. Definitely going back to Centennial soon, cant wait to play the meadows 9 holes again!
For this kind of money…
Great course(s) with a few aggravating holes. Probably the priciest around save Pound Ridge. I’d expect at least one decent toilet facility somewhere on the course when paying a premium. Best they offer is a single porta-potty at the 3 course crossroads. Gross. Some will suggest a quick ride to the clubhouse… but that leads to issue #2:: The Turn. With 3 nines each turn is a course change. Yesterday’s round (and this isn’t the first this has occurred) we had a great pace only to come up on our new course and encounter 3 groups: the 4 that had been in front of us, a new foursome that had just started, and another foursome making the turn from another course. All bets off on getting done at a decent hour. Fortunately a ride back to the starter was greeted sympathetically and we went off on another course that put us back on pace. However, that wasn’t my desired course that day.
Love the place, but at these prices these issues need attention.
