Raven's Claw Golf Club

About
Located in Limerick Township, Raven's Claw Golf Club is one of southeastern Pennsylvania's best golf and residential communities. It consistently ranks as one of the state's top 10. Carved from rolling hills and mature woodlands, the layout features a variety of different holes. No two holes are alike but they require some creative shot-making abilities. With tight fairways and undulating greens bordered by mounds of rough, the golf course also demands accuracy. The design incorporates links-style elements that present a formidable test. The golf course is undoubtedly challenging but there are also recovery opportunities on each hole, which makes it less daunting for beginners. One of Raven's Claw Golf Club's most memorable holes is the tricky penultimate hole. This unforgiving par-3 has a double-tiered, undulating green with no bailout areas to the left or right. Golfers that hit it short will face a blind second shot.

Fun round
Maybe it was because I have heard so much about it and was very hyped to play it, but it was just a little disappointing. Course conditions were great but I was expecting near pristine for a $70+ course. That being said it was still incredibly fun with lots of different variations and some nice scenic views too. The back 9 was definitely more difficult. Hole number 11 was my favorite: raised green after a pretty small landing area to hit the tee shot. We played in the afternoon for $45 and it was absolutely worth it.
Great Layout and Great Conditions
The golf course was in great shape. The layout it one of my favorite layouts I have played, had just the right amount of challenge to it. Love how the course integrated stone walls from before the golf course was there. The course was the best conditioned course I have played around this time of year. The only thing I did not like about the course was the cart path, it needs some serious help in spots, they were so bumpy.
Great Course
One of my favorites in the area. Well kept, well run and interesting layout.
Top course in the area
I have been playing here for years. It is worth the money. It is well kept, I personally enjoy the layout of the course. It is a relatively challenging course with a bunch of unique holes.
Gone Nuklure.
G.W. style. Like the nucleus, keep it in the middle. Great if you like a twisting, winding, undulating track with ample room to manipulate the ball. Just keep it out of the rough. There is enough available. You want to save some game for the taco chip greens. They are on the verge of overdone, but through the valleys, ridges, bumps and plane they too are workable.
If you like a challenge, I would rate this one moderate to tough. Enjoy
Loved the back 9
First time I ever played this course. For January Golf it was excellent. Loved the back 9. Definitely challenging and you had to hit your spots. Cant wait to play it when it is warmer.
Great course that Attracts a lot of local golfers
I've played Raven's Claw a few times now and the quality of the course is great. Very interesting layout that makes the rounds fun and challenging. Greens have always been consistent when I have gone which is awesome compared to a lot of courses in the area. My only complaint would be how crowded it gets! The quality of the course is so great that it can get crowded and slow down the pace of play. But overall, I would say RCGC is always a great choice when your are in the Pottstown area for the price.
Course is a great one to play
Since it had rained the day and night before we played I thought it was in great shape. It was cart path only since the course was so wet. Of course some people didn't follow that rule and drove all over the fairways.
Always worth the trip
We live in north delaware and it takes about a hour to get to Ravens claw. We don't do it a lot, but it's always one of my favorite places to play. Course is in great shape for almost December. I only remember seeing 2 bunkers that needed some love, other then that, great course, great conditions, great deal from golfnow. I will always come back!
Excellent Value
The course was an excellent value, very good condition and challenging, not terribly long. The pace of play was due mostly because it was a warm day and the Friday after Thanksgiving. Everyone decided to come out an play.
Raven's Claw takes a bite!
We had a great round at Raven's. Weather was overcast and upper fifty's, but for a Nov weekend, perfect for a Fall round. Staff was friendly, starter got us out early, pace was great, our 3-some got thru in under <4 hrs, Greens were damp, but still really fast. Front 9 really fun, just a warm-up though for the tougher back nine. Everyone in our group finished happy, what's not to like. We were visiting family in Pottstown, so will definitely consider Raven's again next time we are in town. Thanks.
Nice track in good condition
I have played Ravens Claw before in my golf league and remembered that I liked the layout. I saw a 20 dollar fall hot deal on Golf Now and took advantage. The regular rates even into November were running around $50 bucks, so the value.to me is a bit questionable, but the course is in excellent shape and the staff is friendly. This course is typically very busy and pace of play can be quite slow. I booked as a single and got grouped up with 3 others. Good news was the starter was able to get my out earlier than my tee time which I appreciated. The greens rolled nice, and there were some challenging pin placements. I found a few bunkers and the sand was perfect, not too deep or soft and also not too hard. They played very honest all things considered. Overall I still like this course, its convenient to the local Philly market and definitely one of the better kept public courses in the area, with a nice layout to offer. Just be warned that due to this courses popularity, pace of play and tee time options can be a factor even late into the year.
Excellent value!
Great course for a great price! Conditions were very playable after a lot of rain the day before.
Surprising conditions
Played after heavy rain all previous day. Was wet in spots on fairways and rough, but no real standing water. Greens held up well for this time of year. We played as a two some and only waited on 2 holes all day. Moved nicely. Nice course layout except for 9th hole which is way too gimmicky for my taste. Otherwise a great deal for the golfnow price we paid. I play here 4-5 times per season and will be back
Tough but fair course....excellent condition!
Raven's Claw has some very difficult holes, especially from the tips....9, 10 and 11 are the toughest stretch of three holes I know of in the area.
Tee boxes were aerated, but that's not a big deal. Rest of the course was in excellent shape, especially for late October.
Staff is always friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend to anyone who likes a bit of a challenge.
Ravens Claw
Today was probably at least the 7th time I've played this course this season. I love the track, certain weird holes that people may not like I actually love because they are unique. The course was in questionable condition towards the end of the summer but its getting back to business as usual. Only problem is with the lack of care the Golfers have in doing their part to keep the greens in top shape, fix your ball marks. Side note: pin placements were treacherous today, made for an interesting round putting wise. I'll continue to play here frequently even though the end of the summer conditions were alittle rough around the edges
Really disappointing
Five hour + round. Ranger said he had only been there a month and did not know what to do. At one point, there were for foursomes on a par four. Brutal.
Beverage lady came by once all day. Said she 'loved' her job but only had two cold hot dogs and some chips to eat. How about just a little effort?
I would never pay here again.
Still one of my favorites for the price
Played this course after three days of rain, so expectedly it was pretty soggy. The greens were soft but still rolling nice. Was surprised they were allowing carts on the fairways, but they didn't looked overly beat up. Overall, course was in great shape. This course has a few 'quirky' holes that will not appeal to everyone, but I enjoy the layout and multiple holes that make you think off the tee. Pace of play was not an issue as the day started gloomy which probably deterred some golfers away. I'll be back for more.
Great Track, Wide Open
The Claw is one of my favorite, and best courses in the Philly area; I think it has been a top 5(or 10) Philly area course for many years running. Its located in what I call Philly's Golfers Triangle bc there are roughly 10 courses in a 10 mile radius. Course is always in great shape, the fourth fairway always seems to be soggy, but no complaints. It can play long (the back tee on 10 is 150 yards behind the Blue tee box; par 3, 17th is 240 yards from the back tee), but has 5 tee choices. Wide fairways and average rough make it seem easy. But once on the greens you realize it is not that easy. Undulating greens, false fronts and some pin placements can be demonic. Some fairways have tall grasses that line the rough. Multiple forced carries. Water is pretty much non existent (shank it far left on 2, same pond skirts short left on par 3, 3rd, and a shank far left on 4 are only areas it comes into play). Bunkers are always in good shape, which says something bc a lot of local courses have skimped on the sand this year. Club selection is paramount. Forced layups and carries make use of just about every club in the bag.
