Course condition
the greens need further attendance and the ball cleaners need to be monitored to ensure there is water in them On the 5th hole the green is difficult due to the amount of weeds that have encroach around the actual pin.
Ok inexpensive day.
Looks like the course is struggling with $ for maintenance. Some attempt is being made to take care of it but I hope they are able to throw a few dollars at grass seed and water. Maybe more maintenance people. Super friendly staff tho. Restrooms were nice. Was a nice day with friends.
To narrow the rough is wilderness
It was February, so it was very dry, brown and very narrow. It looked like they were making improvements to the course facilities ie clubhouse. The biggest complaint was how narrow it was and if you went into the rough the ball was gone
Nice place to play
When I visit this area in Arizona, I always try to get in a round of golf here. I've never had a problem finding an available tee time. Twice around the nine-hole course makes for a great experience. It's challenging enough to definitely make a round worthwhile and enjoyable.
Coyote Trails Golf Course
Small, but challenging course.
The greens need work, though.
Interesting course
First time to play it. The course is very short. No Par 5's. A couple of the Par 3's were a little long. You can leave your driver in the bag except perhaps for #8. The course is very tight and you can get in trouble quickly. Bring extra balls. The greens were in good shape, but seemed a little slow. Fairways were wet here and there, and some of the teeboxes were somewhat chopped up. Here's the best advice I can give: do NOT go for directions on Mapquest, Google, or any other site. They are all wrong. Call the Pro shop for directions. All in all, I would probably play this course again if nothing else was available.
Good Value
Short but challenging course. Price was very low which made the value excellent. Condition wasn’t the greatest but the greens were actually good given the time of year. Would definitely come back. Clubhouse was under construction.
Narrow and challenging
Many fairways are in ravines which are narrow. You have to hit straight or you will be off into the bush looking for lost balls. Very challenging but a good course for all skill levels.
Where is Coyote Trails?
Coyote Trails was a beautiful 9 hole course and we really enjoyed playing it. The website registration said we were pre-paid but I was abruptly contradicted for not reading my email fine print that states due upon arrival. Why call it pre-pay if you take all my credit card info, say its prepaid - but it's actually not?! More importantly, golfers should be instructed to NOT use mapquest - or they will never find the course. More instructions on getting to the location would have been very helpful. We wasted too much time trying to get there.
What Happened?
I'm really torn about this review, but I have to say what must be said: This was a disappointing experience.
There is a lot of construction going on, so there are no amenities and no clubhouse. The staff are in a trailer. Okay, no big deal. You have to do what's necessary, right? Well, that would be nice. But they didn't even have a bathroom, just a portable john.
The conditions were spotty. There was tons of crabgrass growing everywhere--even infecting what would otherwise be pretty good greens. They play fast, but they're bumpy, which is a horrible combination. There are no sand bunkers on the course, which you may consider a feature or a bug depending on your game, I guess.
Five of the holes had temporary tees out in the fairways, rendering this course to being (largely) a par-3 layout.
Of course, there was no beverage service or just about anything else you might need or want before or after playing the round.
Obviously, based on the reviews, this course has seen finer days. The layout was okay, but very narrow and difficult to judge where to hit the ball if you haven't played it before.
Now the three things that REALLY bugged me about this round. First, with all of this going on, they have the nerve to charge full price for the round, which was $63 for two (including tax, including a riding cart--which you absolutely must take because of the layout of the course). That's ridiculous. Lousy conditions, temporary tee boxes, zero amenities, yet full price?
Second, not a thing about any of this appeared on their website. We came from 100 miles away, so there was no way around it all after arrival. It's not like we could just turn around and go home. We were sold a pig in a poke.
Finally, what really bothered me is how little they said when we paid our greens fees. Oh, sure, they had a piece of paper lying on a desk saying there were holes with temporary tees, but no indication of the lousy conditions, nor that the temporary tees weren't just off to the side or in front of the regular tee boxes (which were horrible), but that each of those holes was shortened dramatically, changing the entire character of the golf course.
On paper (and on the Web), this looked like a nice little 9-holer. In reality, it was a sad effort, with zero consideration for the customer. I'm not disappointed so much with the (hopefully temporary) conditions. But I am VERY disappointed with how it is being managed and presented.
