tricky pin on par 3 hole 4 Photo submitted by readski on 11/14/2017
Great public course
Visited Desert Hills today! Greens and collars are in great shape, fairway hard but no bare spots, and lots of green grass. Tee boxes are in great shape. The carts are old but work and the workers there are always courteous. This course plays long so pick the right tees for you. I have played here for 7 winters now and this place is the most consistent in Yuma after 100s of rounds. This place really puts the City of Yuma on the map!
Lots of hard pan
Fun course. Grass just starting to grow? Pretty short grass on fairways
Slow play
For the first playing the course I found it fun and challenging. The pace of play was slow but tolerable. I'll be playing this course in the future for sure.
Good
The starter is knowledgeable and does his job, but a Marshal is needed from time to time
Always a good play
Greens are fast and smooth, a real gem for Yuma!
Plays long but Fairways are wide.Only reason it's not a 5 is there are really nice and expensive courses in California and bigger cities that are nicer of course. It's a 5 for the money :)
Carts are old but run :)
Consistantly Good!
Best greens in Yuma AZ by far. This course plays long and the greens are smooth and fast also the grass on the greens is consistent and free of bad spots. The collars are decent where you can run the ball well. The Fairways are very green right now as well as the Tee boxes. The Fairways are of generous width and the dormant Bermuda along the edges allows some extra roll. The only thing in rough shape is the carts, but they do run.
Nice track for the money
Couple of very challenging par 4s keep you on your toes. Nice greens that roll true.
Golfing
No water in ball washers. No beverage cart. To many 5 somes, should have marshal keep players moving.
Groups of five is a no go!!!
Play too slow because of groups of five. No course martial to enforce play through rules.
windy day in the desert area.. but FUN..
first time playing this course.. Was not a ball buster but a good challenge nonetheless.
the gas carts are a bit old but other than a few clanks and clunks they started up and ran fine.
the green are ficken fast, flat, slick, and true.. :) and not so much on the flat side with a lot of little dip swells etc.
the course is wide and not a lot of tough rough at all. even around the greens it was better to putt is no more than 5 ft vs chipping.. Not a lot of water that come in to play for the most part.
sure it gets more play during winter but due to covid the crowds in area are smaller good or bad.
the area is close to Los ALgodones Mexico good for dentist, eye doctor, and pharmania for cheap Rx drugs..
good cheap food and lots of stuff to buy if you want.. and you will get ask PLENTY.. lol..
Great course
Course was in great shape! First time playing this course, I will enjoy it many times during my visit.
Best Course In Town
We are here every winter and play Desert Hills 90% of the time. It’s the longest course in area with some difficulty and firm, breaking greens. Par 72 for men and 73 for the ladies. We played today, walking, in just 3 hours. 16,500 steps. Price is best in town and they are the only course that offers a walking rate. With Golf Now we pay between $12-24 to walk. Only ding I give the course, is the price of beer and liquor is too high, and food is also pricey but very good.
