Verde River Golf & Social Club
About
Verde River Golf & Social Club (formerly known as Tegavah Golf Club and Vista Verde Golf Course) has a desert style layout that features panoramic views of Four Peaks, the Superstition Mountains, Weaver's Needle, and the Tonto National Forest. In addition to the scenery, the golf course also presents interesting challenges such as subtle contours and desert wasteland areas that guard the holes. The greens lead to generous landing areas that require precision and length. Although only one water hazard comes into play on one hole, there are several sand bunkers strategically situated throughout. Verde River Golf & Social Club offers five sets of teeboxes to offer suitable challenges for players of all skill levels and abilities.

A golf course in great shape where everyone find his challenge
Except for the cart which need sole timing everything was great
The course with two distinctive halves
Thought the layout was well done. The front half was open with generous landing areas which were easy to see as it was my first time at the course. Back nine was designed as a more target golf with a couple of hole where course knowledge would have been beneficial. Was a enjoyable course which I look forward to playing again.
Repetitive layout
Same design layout almost every hole with waste desert areas in front of first and second shots
Great experience!
Might just be the nicest course for the money in the Phoenix area!
A remote but great golf course.
Played there for a second time with some friends from Montana and it was in even better shape than the first time. The course is interesting and challenging. The staff there is friendly and helpful and please pay attention to the starter when he tells you that all putts will break towards the Four Peaks! You can look at a putt 10 times and swear it won't break that way, but it does…every time. Vista Verde is a great experience!
overall course conditions make up for ageing cart fleet and missingng clubhouse
No club house/gas carts are aging and "rough"starting! The course conditions are above average compared to other courses I have played this time of year!
Afternoon T times Green fees are reduced to a level compensating for the lack of facilities and aging cart fleet. The staff is sensitive to the negatives and is friendlier than most others I have met.
Great course and great value
Course was in excellent shape, friendly staff and excellent value for your money. Will be one of the must play courses when club house is done but even without clubhouse well worth a game there.
Challenging course that is straight in front of you. Many sets of tees for varying skill levels.
Challenging course that is straight in front of you.. What you see is what you get. No tricked up hidden hazards to worry about for first time players. There are plent of tee boxes offerimng a challenge for many skill levels. The longest the course plays is 7229 yards. We played at 6500+ which for my group was a good challenge. Course was in excellent contition and has a nice practice area. Only downside there is no club house for a frosty mug of beer one as you settle your bets.
Very fair course in great shape
no amenities including no clubhouse
cart girl only twice
while checking in two other groups paid $10.-$12. less than GOLFNOW price
Great course.
My favorite in Phoenix. Wonderful views and great course
Great course. A little bit of a drive but worth the trip. A wonderful golf course
My favorite in Phoenix area. Course is in great shape and fun to play. Views of the mountains as good as the condition of the course.
Nice layout. Beautiful mountain views!
Nice course with some great scenery. Staff was nice and cart came with four bottles of water on ice. Fairways were firm and fast with decent grass. Greens rolled nicely and were medium in speed. Greens were a bit firm as even a full sand wedge would bounce once or twice and then bite. Playing the east-facing holes was a treat as you looked directly at Four Peaks. The fact that there are no houses on the course (well, only two) adds to the natural setting. Will definitely play here again.
No houses to worry about !!
You get that desert/links feel on this course. Great views of the mountains to the east. Last hole got me with the only water on the course to the right of the green. A tough butt fair course with some risk/ reward holes.
Beautiful desert course in excellent condition
This is simply one of the best courses I've played in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. The layout is interesting. Tees, fairways and greens were all in excellent condition. Greens were hard and fast -- required a little care in approach shots. Fairways were relatively wide. Desert and mountain views. A lot of the scrub is cleared out of the washes which reduces the potential for lost golf balls. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
Signage for the check in area hard to see. Had to make a trip back from the course to check in.
Our foursome all thought it was in great condition and the choice of tees and distances fit us all just right and found it to be very scenic.
This course has great views and no homes.
The fairways are generous. Greens in great condition putting true. Beautiful views on surrounding mountains and desert.
Best value in Scottsdale
I hope the rates don't go through the roof because this is by far the best prime season value in North Scottsdale. The greens and fairways are flawless. The course is a fair test of the game. You drive carts on the fairways and the mountain views are spectacular.
Good value
Course was in good condition. Pretty basic amenities at course though. Tee boxes could have been more clearly marked but really good value for the dollar. Nice setting surrounded by mountains. We played early so pace of play was excellent. Would definitely play again.
Great Desert Course
This was the first time I played Vista Verde. I had my brother visiting from Idaho and we just loved the course. No houses on it so it had wonderful desert vista views. The course was in outstanding condition even a couple weeks out from overseeding. I will definitely go and play again. The back tees play at over 7100 so you can make this very challenging if you like. There are 4 sets of tees so if you are not that long in length you can shorten the distance considerably.
