Verde River Golf & Social Club

About
Verde River Golf & Social Club (formerly known as Tegavah Golf Club and Vista Verde Golf Course) has a desert style layout that features panoramic views of Four Peaks, the Superstition Mountains, Weaver's Needle, and the Tonto National Forest. In addition to the scenery, the golf course also presents interesting challenges such as subtle contours and desert wasteland areas that guard the holes. The greens lead to generous landing areas that require precision and length. Although only one water hazard comes into play on one hole, there are several sand bunkers strategically situated throughout. Verde River Golf & Social Club offers five sets of teeboxes to offer suitable challenges for players of all skill levels and abilities.

Great course with amazing views
Annual golf trip from Chicago, landed on Verde River. This course beats out the high tier courses in Scottsdale. Fairways were immaculate and the greens were fast. Starter treated us like kings and the rest of the staff was professional yet very engaging. We will be back until it goes private!!
cart path only?
we played this course and it was a cart path only had 2 seniors in their late 60's it was slow early and January not sure why there was a cart path only rule. We will stick to courses closer to Phoenix, too bad it has some potential.
Beautiful Vistas for an Excellemt Course
Course is excellent ... difficult at times to concentrate due to the amazing views of the mountains. Watch out for beautiful wild horses grazing on the sides of the fairways from time to time.
The staff was super friendly/helpful and there was no sense that we we were intruding on their country club ... or that we didn't belong.
If we can find a tee time ... we will be back!
First time
My son and I played the course for the first time. The course was in very good shape and the greens were large and very receptive. Its a fair test and we both enjoyed our game there.
Great value & views
The layout, design and views are all excellent. I love the elevated greens, very undulating and unique from one to the next! Greens running 9-10 range. My favorite holes are the long Par 17th, the drivable Par 4, and the 470 yd Par 4 on the front. Again the views are amazing. Great pace of play & customer service! The clubhouse is temporary, but the community is gated and more houses are going to start going up soon. The course reminds me of we po saguaro and las vegas Pauite. It's a must play!
Very impressed
I will be honest I did not have high expectations coming to this track. I was pleasantly surprised upon arrival. The staff was great, the practice facilities were great, and the course is an outstanding condition. I got paired up with two great guys and we played in three hours 40 minutes. I found out that trilogy is going to be building the developments there and they have done a great job with the surrounding beautification.
Verder River - aka Slow Moving River
Let me start this review on a positive note; Course conditions; which is paramount to my interest in any course were quite good. That is the end of the positive nature to this review. If you only want to read positive notes stop here..............
5 hour round. Group in front of us did not wait on one single shot on the back nine, they must have had a great time!
We waited on every single shot from the second hole on through 18. Our cart ran out of power and I had to push the cart for the last 2 1/2 holes until I could not push it up to the 18th tee, where we finally got our replacement.
The ranger to monitor the pace of play, he left at 4:00 pm, most likely from frustration. On the 16th hole there were 4 groups on the hole- 2 groups on the tee, us in the fairway and our most cordial friends on the green, taking multiple stabs at what must have been a missed 4 ft. putt, all while we waited and waited.
When we went into the pro shop trailer at the end, we were graciously met with an apology. We were also advised that the "cart girl" - who must have had dual duties- reported from the 12th hole that the pace of play was good. Probably for beer sales but not for golf. With regards to the cart out of power, again they apologized and suggested we should have called in sooner. But without cell service that was pretty tough.
Besides the apologies nothing else/. No reimbursement of cart fees, no "rain check" nothing. That obviously tells me this happens much too often to afford the client consideration
ABSOLUTLEY NO REGARD FOR PACE OF PLAY!!!!!!!!
Even with good course conditions, I would rather play a cow field that has an accountable pace of play rather than this misfit, with little concern about client satisfaction.
I have played golf all over the USA & well over 500 golf courses and have accreditation in golf course architecture business. Verde River is a mess and until they find a balance between land/house sales and golf course management I WOULD STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Must play
Truly one of the best courses I have played. Well laid out good conditions and spectacular views of mountains and desert.
soon to be more than only 1 house on whole course
you had better play there now if you plan on seeing anything close to what is in those pictures...trilogy(overpriced) is going in...model homes up...clubhouse rendering...point is...it's a fun course with some RAD views...soon to be just another Arizona course surrounded by houses...
Too slow
Greens were very bumpy and slow. Pace of play was ridiculous 5+ hours for 18 holes on a weekday.
Excellent
Fantastic golf course, fantastic value. We got a great rate on golfNow. Definitely worth the drive. Course is extremely well maintained. Great layout. Over-seeded at the moment but so is the rest of the state. Pace of play was great. Staff was friendly and courteous. Price include a cart and use of the practice facility. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone looking for the intersection of value and offering /service. Sidebar: Tom Lehman is doing the redesign and we bumped into him on the course today!
Easy on the eye
enjoyable layout. Ongoing construction in surrounding development and recently sanded greens are main detractors.
constuction
I've played the course in the past and was pleased but now there is constuction with home building and course is plagued with rerouting to holes along with plenty of dust, dirt and noise! I'll play it again only because of the reasonable price through golfnow.
Enjoyed the round
I enjoyed the round of golf and the club has set up the score card with a number options allowing the player to select the tees that most match their capabilities. There are 5 sets of tees and the club has developed combinations that allow a player to select from 9 variations of the 5 sets.
the course was in great shape and the personnel are very accommodating. There is quite a bit of construction going on but the only place on the course that impacted my round was getting from the 8th green to the 9th tee. It was a round about trip but the route was very well marked.
good golf in rio verde,az
played tevagah golf course today, very good condition of the course, greens kinda hard but will somewhat hold a shot, but would not leave a ball mark, fairways and bunkers in very good shape, played the silver tees perfect, distance.my only suggestion is to have 150 yard striped poles in the fairways for better distance judgement,no all of the sprinklers marked, great range great staff, only saw the ranger/starter once and cart girl 3
times worth the drive up to the course
Heavy House Construction around Course
Course was in pretty good shape. However, heavy home construction and road development around golf course makes navigation a bit tricky. Dirt roads abound around many of the holes to get from one hole to the next. Takes away from a bit of the scenery and beauty when playing a golf course. Heavy Construction Vehicles are noisy at times. Course should really be nice once home construction is finished but that is going to be quite awhile.
Tegavah Golf Club
I love playing here. The staff is very friendly and polite. They are always bringing you water on the practice range and making sure everything is going well. The course is beautiful. It's currently having construction done around the 8th hole, but the rest of the course is great. The views are unbeatable. The course condition is very impressive. The fairways and greens are perfect and don't have dry spots. Can be a challenging course but it's still very fun. I highly recommend playing here.
Fun Course
I've played here multiple times and I've always had fun. It can be challenging if you don't keep your tee shots in the fairway. They provide ice cold water bottles on the course and have a cooler on the carts. You also have free practice balls before your round. Great place to play
Cart Path only ??
This is a very difficult course to walk !! Was informed at check in that because of overnight rains "It was cart path only all holes" the temp was 109 & very humid, I always stayed on the path & did not find the fairways to be too soft where a cart would leave tracks, I suggest the course to cart path only info to their web page,
play 36 holes
Grate summer condition. #16 fairway bunker is ALL gravel Rocks need to be replace with SAND. Tee off at 11 . Played 36holes. Good replay rate.
