Verde River Golf & Social Club

About
Verde River Golf & Social Club (formerly known as Tegavah Golf Club and Vista Verde Golf Course) has a desert style layout that features panoramic views of Four Peaks, the Superstition Mountains, Weaver's Needle, and the Tonto National Forest. In addition to the scenery, the golf course also presents interesting challenges such as subtle contours and desert wasteland areas that guard the holes. The greens lead to generous landing areas that require precision and length. Although only one water hazard comes into play on one hole, there are several sand bunkers strategically situated throughout. Verde River Golf & Social Club offers five sets of teeboxes to offer suitable challenges for players of all skill levels and abilities.

Play it before all the houses go in
My favorite course in the valley. The staff is always friendly and very welcoming. I have played here for years and staff has always been great. Everyone should get out and play this course before the houses go in. Those of us who have played this course over the years have been spoiled by the views and quality of the course. The houses will add a new feel but it looks like they will be set back far enough that you will feel like your still in the desert. I will always know the course as Vista Verde
Hittem Straight
I joined three young local guys, who hit the ball a mile
but not too straight. They paid the price. The course was in great condition, and the greens ran true. The beverage cart was available often. Will definitely return to this gem.
DESERT TARGET GOLF
FIRST TIME PLAYING HERE AND IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE. SUMMER IS THE TIME TO PLAY-HAD THE COURSE TO OURSELVES. THE CONSTRUCTION DIDNT BOTHER US-IT WILL BE A BEAUTIFUL COMMUNITY ONCE IT GETS BUILT UP. FACILITIES ARE TEMPORARY AT THIS POINT BUT WELL DONE.
Great shape
Course was excellent. Don't know if there is a better condition course right now in the valley
One hole of fun
Unfortunately, I reaggravated a rib injury on my second swing on the first hole. Was unable to breathe for 30 seconds and unable to continue my round, so frustrating. The course was in fantastic shape and had some very nice views. Nice practice facility. Once this development is complete this will be a gem.The staff was great, help me out to my car and gave me a voucher to replay once I am healed. Can't wait to get back out to this course
Great Value
I heard great things about this course, and they were right. Considering the type of conditions you usually get in Arizona this time of year, it was a nice surprise to play it in in such good shape.
I had a great time and the staff was wonderful. Getting in can be a bit confusing due to surrounding construction- but it makes me happy because this place will only get better.
Great practice facility.
Must play
Great golf course only getting better. Front nine greens a little bumpy back nine greens are near awesome. Good fairways and traps. Awesome deal
Challenging Length with Approaches Requiring Carry
Tegavah is a challenging 18 holes for the duffer and scratch player alike . It is of note that the course was revamped from its birth as Vista Verde by removing bunkers and flattening the fairways. The course offers strategic course management decisions along with significant length.
On the day of my play the course was still recovering from aeriiation thus the greens played uneven and slow. Once recovered Tegavah offers some of the truest putts in the valley . Often greens will not hold a hot shot without spin. Rolling on green shots are few with many approach shots requiring a carry.
A beverage cart was operating on the weekend but on the weekdays in the summer you are dependent on 4 water bottles provided in the cooler and a canteen in the pro shop. Those seeking a resort experience will have to wait a couple of years.
Great conditions even though there is a Ton of construction
Play this course if you need to fill the void on your trip.. Conditions are great and this track will Improve as time goes on. Staff was awesome and this will be an up and coming great course in the future. Play it now while it's cheap!
Beautiful Golf Course, Questionable Weather
Tegavah is a great golf course. The course conditioning is fantastic, the greens roll quick and there are plenty of postcard worthy views. Prior to teeing off, the starter will probably tell you to pay attention to the direction of the "four peaks" (mountains) as it will influence putting on the greens. While it will influence some of your putts, it's not as big of a factor as we thought it may be. The only complaint we had on this day was with the weather. It was windy throughout the round and even rained during the last two holes. It definitely made for some challenging approach shots. All in all though, great experience
Great Track
The course was in great shape and the staff was extremely friendly. You can truly see they appreciated our business. FYI asked about when they would break ground on the new clubhouse they said next year. Who needs a clubhouse when you have a great course.
Will play it again
Most enjoyable....looking forward to new clubhouse.
Desert Golf Play
Vista Verde golf course is a wonderful remote desert golf course. If you're looking to feel like you're out in nature this is a must do golf course. The views are spectacular,. The holes immaculately taking care of.You will not be disappointed Enjoy
Ozzie's take
Sort of in the middle of nowhere but worth the trip. Views are spectacular, course challenging and interesting. Compared to WeKoPa but I would rate it as a close second. Has a "in transition" feel to it with no clubhouse and empty lots around. Understand middle level home builder has bot course and land. Time will tell what that change brings. Decent value on Golf Now.. 10 miles from Pima Road turnoff!! Special mention of gracious and excellent lady who prepares sandwiches in the "clubhouse."
What a great desert track!
OK, they have a few growing pains getting in as they prepare for development, but once you're there, the range and course are spectacular!
Extraordinary Vista
Tegavah is a desert course jewel. Hidden in the MCdowell mountain range, the views are grande and the course is absolutely great. I am a "solid" 15 to 18 handicap. I played the copper tees. I had many chances for pars, and a few birdies. The approach shots, pin placements, green speeds made for a more exciting and challenging round for my skill of play. It is the reason I went back and will go time and time again.
The staff is friendly and very helpful.
Not worth the drive
A beautiful setting and an interesting track. But the course conditions were not great, especially on the front nine. Overall, not worth the price, especially considering the 45 minute drive to Rio Verde. The service was very good.
This place is gonna be even better
Once they build the clubhouse and add amenities, this course will be a fun place to spend the day
I played with my wife and she says it was definitely female friendly
Conditions were nice....greens were slow but true.
Staff was very accomodating
I would play there again...
