Deer Valley Golf Course
About
Deer Valley Golf Course in Hummelstown boasts one of the most affordable rounds you'll find in the Hershey/Harrisburg area. Since opening in 2005, more than 850 trees have been added and it has matured into a course favored by both visitors and locals. The layout features large, elevated greens and massive multi-tiered tees. From the golf course's peaks, the views stretch all the way to Hershey and the Blue Mountains. The winding layout twists and turns, doglegging left and right. It's a challenging layout round despite the absence of sand bunkers. There is however, thick rough and a number of grass bunkers to watch out for. Water only makes a brief appearance. Deer Valley Golf Course isn't overly challenging but for a fun and fair test, it's an affordable option that also offers some beautiful scenery.

Slow play
The course was nice but they over booked their tee times. They were also more concerned about people bringing their own beer instead of regulating the speed of play.
the course
course is in good shape greens were great hard to read some for the first time over all like the course and the grass bunkers.
Good Course
Good value...course was set up short...sporty from the tips...could use signage....ie distances to some blind areas
Father's Day
This course was opened. Others in area were closed or walk only due to the amount of rain of previous night. Naturally the pace was slow. Course was over booked. Overall condition of course poor. Greens are unputtable. Noone fixes any divots. Most tee boxes need to be repaired.
Great course with a great staff
Although the yardage of this course is not as long as some, the quality and conditions of the course made up for this. Would recommend.
Good course / excellent condition
We play here once a month.
Club house has old coffee and offers cold hotdogs in stale bun, but we come here to play golf.
Course is well maintained and groomed. Challenging holes with hidden greens are fun.
Rude Ranger
I won't play this course again. The ranger was rude. Constantly harassing us about our pace on the front 9. I think the group behind us were regulars. The solution was not harassing us, but having the group behind play through. We asked if we could get a hot dog after the 9th hole and he said, "Yes." Then he comes in and chased us out of our table before we ate our hot dog. On the back 9 there was nobody behind us but he constantly shadowed us. It is people like him that suck the joy out of the game.
Good condition
The course was in good shape. Greens were hard but in good shape. Course designed for seniors but fun to play.
This course is challenging and fun
We played on a busy Friday afternoon and even though the course was crowded and backed up on several holes, we were able to complete our round in 4.5 hours. The trees are continuing to grow and fill in so the the challenge of the course is increasing. The staff was friendly and helpful, in fact the owner/developer came out and talked to us while we were waiting to tee off on 10.
Ranger asleep
Course regulars were obviously allowed to slow the play without ranger interruption. 12-15 minutes per hole is ridiculous. I could not finish my round. Fun course, great staff, good food, Bad course etiquette.
Stay Away from this piece of garbage!
Fairways were awful, greens needed to be mowed. No lines to speak of were visible from the tees. I had my tee time held up because 2 other guys I didn't book with were late. So the starter sent 2 very old foursomes in front of me...
I quit after 9 and went and played a respectable course in the area. This place is a waste of time!
Beautiful Spring Day
The course looked great considering the winter we had.
Beautiful Afternoon
This course is very nicely manicured. Had to wait a bit to play last 9 holes but it was so gorgeous out that I didn't mind at all. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Would highly recommend this course.
Great little course.
Course had just aerated the greens and top dressed them. Even so, they still putted pretty well.
Course is a little short but still requires you to hit the ball well and think your way around the course. They have recently planted tons of trees which as they grow will drastically change the course making it more difficult.
Rich's review
Greens were extremely fast but true. Tee boxes in great shape. Fairways were full but mowed. Pace of play was fast
Great course
Great day had in PA. Not an extremely long course but layout and tough greens made it a very fun yet challenging round of golf. Course was in great shape. Staff was unbelievable and the owner Mr Bill Wall was a great guy. Not often do you meet the designer and owner of a course when you go golfing but Mr Wall was working in pro shop when we arrived and was a pleasure to meet. I highly recommend playing this course.
continues getting nicer
I've played this course many times but this was the first time this year. The course continues to mature and improve. The greens were very firm and rolled quick. The only challenge I found was holding the greens. They were not receptive to approaches, but either bounced off or rolled through. Otherwise, I enjoyed the round, got through in 3 1/2 hrs and will be back
Nice Day for Golf
This is the second time I have played Deer Valley GC. I was impressed with the overall condition of the course. One negative was that my fiancee stopped at the turn before hole 10 to eat a quick hot dog and were rushed back on to the course by the ranger after only a few minutes. The explanation was given that there were a bunch of people approaching Hole 10. While this was an acceptable explanation, it should be up to the golfers to take the risk of playing behind, not the starter. I have been golfing for 15 years and have never been rushed after the turn to resume playing. This was a minor thing in the grand scheme of the day and I still would play Deer Valley again and certainly recommend to friends.
Always enjoy Deer Valley
I have played this course many times and have always enjoyed playing it. It offers a decent challenge and is always in good condition. You can't beat the value in the Harrisburg/Hershey area.
Go To Course
Staff and patrons friendly. No sand bunkers, but grass bunkers on several holes that were interesting. Greens and tee shots have character. This course is definitely a mainstay in our weekly course rotation.
