West/North at Tanglewood - The Lion

        About
Tanglewood, also known as "The Lion," boasts 27 holes of championship golf, divided into the North, South, and West nines. The holes are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The North/West Course starts with the gentlest nine before moving on to the newest and arguably the most challenging nine. The undulating landscape provides a soft bowl-shape to many of the holes that help to keep errant shots in play by corralling them away from the bordering backyards. Water hazards come into play on seven holes on the West nine and the greens are also guarded heavily by pins. The West's third hole is one of the most memorable holes on the golf course. This tricky par 4 gets progressively more challenging as you move from the wide fairways to the steep and intrusive bunkers that lead to the green.

Easy residential community course
Nice residential community, there are (3) 9-hole courses here, we played north/south, it looks like west was the most unique/challenging.
Not too much challenge, although there were a few fairways that required accuracy off the tee, and some holes that were target practice off the tee (no driver).
Grass on tee boxes badly needed to be mowed. Greens were inconsistent - this was late season and one of the 9-hole courses had greens full of sand, while the other 9-hole course had fast greens. There was still plenty of seed throughout without much dirt/dry spots. Sand was good.
No GPS in carts, no water on course, no coolers in cart. Made the turn at the clubhouse and the bartender had no hot dogs cooking or ready. Cart return was blocked off for a wedding.
It's fine, there's other options in the area that I prefer (10 public courses and 2 country clubs within 15 min), but this would be an OK rotational course.
One of the best course I have played in Detroit Metro, esp for the valuefor
Great course, greats are true and FAST, fun layout, pace was great esp for a holiday weekend, people working here were all very positive, nice. Highly recommended
still a great fun fair course !
Had not played this course in over 15 yrs . They really take good care of it. For a public course the playing time was cery good even though twe were behind avlarge group of players. All good marks will definetly return.
Great course for price.
Great course! North 9 is open and give you options on many holes. Par 3 usually have water on one side forcing you to be selective on shot choice which makes it a lot of fun. South 9 is tighter and houses along some fairways. Hole 4 you either have to layup at the dogleg or trust your shot over the trees and have distance control because you will end up wet if you go long. Overall great course only downside I felt was no actual food other than the usual hotdogs or pre wrapped sandwiches. Overall must play in Michigan!
Good value well maintained!
Course layout is very playable...the average player can score on this course. Course was in great shape, everything well maintained. Paid $50 for 18 and cart. Good value for the quality. Enjoy!!!
Bad conditions
I know it’s early in the season but the grass looked like crap and there was no raking of bunkers not worth the money till after spring
