West/North at Tanglewood - The Lion

        About
Tanglewood, also known as "The Lion," boasts 27 holes of championship golf, divided into the North, South, and West nines. The holes are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The North/West Course starts with the gentlest nine before moving on to the newest and arguably the most challenging nine. The undulating landscape provides a soft bowl-shape to many of the holes that help to keep errant shots in play by corralling them away from the bordering backyards. Water hazards come into play on seven holes on the West nine and the greens are also guarded heavily by pins. The West's third hole is one of the most memorable holes on the golf course. This tricky par 4 gets progressively more challenging as you move from the wide fairways to the steep and intrusive bunkers that lead to the green.

Been a While
Haven't played Tanglewood in a number of years but really enjoyed it. The course was in fantastic condition - Greens and Fairways were firm and fast. The layout is enjoyable, mixing challenging holes with ones where you can be more aggressive. Good times.
Enjoyable Round of Golf
I haven't played this course in a couple of years and there have been a few changes due to the new houses on the course. The course is in great condition and the new houses are far enough off the course to not come into play. There are three 9-hole courses and we played the North/South. The fairways, rough and greens are in great condition for this time of year. The pace of play was great on the North course but we caught up with a 3-some on the South course and the pace of play slowed down considerably. It seems there was only 3 groups on the course due to the threat of rain today and on several holes all three groups were on the same hole. There is a homeowner on the 6th hole of the South course that has a rather offensive political sign posted (vulgar language). The course plays fair and is challenging. I would definitely recommend it.
Came here to play on a golf trip and the course was great. It truly felt like a high tier country club. The course was in great condition and to find playable bunkers in October is rare but they looked great. Each hole was well protected in its own way that felt unique to the lay out. Pace of play was the only issue we had getting stuck behind a slow foursome and having one waiting behind us on every hole on the back nine. Overall the price was great and my group enjoyed this course the most out of the four we played during the trip.
Better be White.....
Want just minimal, acceptable service? You better be white. If you are a person of color, like me, forget about it. Every worker there treated me like a nuisance as opposed to a customer.
2nd nine we ended up behind a group of 6 for the last 5 holes. Slow, and couldn't play through. Nice if they would have had a ranger out to take care of that.
Mixed Conditions
I have played Tanglewood at least 5 times over the last few years. In general, the course was in fair shape (played North and South). The staff is friendly but the tee boxes could use some attention
Very nice track.. friendly staff
Very nice course. Friendly staff... didn’t like getting paired with a single when I booked a tee time for a buddy and I, but overall it was a good outing!
Poor Greens Keeping
The greens were terrible on every hole. Chopped up, dead grass areas. Play was very good. Probably because less people booked tee times due to poor course green conditions.
