Coyote Preserve Golf Club
About
Coyote Preserve Golf Club in Fenton is one of the only courses in the area designed by Arnold Palmer. The course has a hilly terrain that provides plenty of elevation changes a well as stunning views. Tumbling across deep ravines and native wetlands, the layout requires many carries over dramatic depressions and water hazards but many are seemingly intimidating but actually quite reasonable. Massive, finely sculpted bunkers strategically frame the greensides of many holes. While some of them are manageable, others are deep and sod-faced. The tricky hazards in conjunction with the dramatic elevations demand both accuracy and creative shot-making. The golf course has a memorable finish with a par-5, risk-reward hole. There is ample room off the tee on this downhill, dogleg left hole and it presents a few different options for the second shot. With some thought, scoring par is definitely a possibility.

#1 par 5...hit your drive over the white post. 2nd shot left of bunkers Photo submitted by Remmy1974 on 06/15/2016
Course was great, as usual, but the greens were terrible...very slow & recently aerated...once those are fixed, I’d rate this course a 5!!
Great condition
Course is in great condition for this time of the year. Wasn’t busy at all. Will be back!
Great course!!
Coyote preserve is one of my favorite courses and the greens are in good shape for the time of year!! I would recommend this course to any!!
Greens Aerated
The overall course is in good condition, but be aware the greens are aerated. Courses should warn golfers this is the case. Although there are signs that require masks in the building, none of the employees in the pro shop are wearing one and there is no plexiglass between the customer and employee. This is the first course I have been to since the pandemic where the course doesn't seem to take any precautions to protect the customer. There is a nice driving range and putting area. There are a lot of blind shots, so if it's your first time I would recommend playing with someone who has played the course.
Coyote Preserve
The course was beautiful and very well kept. Some of the Tee views on the front nine were breathtaking. Whoever designed the 16th hole was sick in the head! Lol Had a wonderful time!
You must know!
You must know this course otherwise you’ll find your self in hidden trouble.
This course is like Treetops
Great course. Very hard. Beginners beware! Very nice clubhouse staff. Beautiful. Like Treetops in the upper part of lower peninsula of Michigan. Ok only downside was they overbooked on the weekend and round took 5 1/2 hours.
Disappointed
I had read the reviews on Golf Now and had high expectations. Conditions of greens, tees, fairways were marginal. The Arnold Palmer layout is intriguing and challenging, especially the Par 5 16th which is impossible. But the marginal/poor conditions left me disappointed.
Challenging course with a wide variety of elevations and beautiful views. Planning your way through several holes will be beneficial as trouble can be found by being too aggressive on a few. One of my favorite courses for sure.
Could be good
Course is in pretty bad shape for the most part minus the greens which were in good shape. Drove 45 minutes thinking that I was going to be playing a top course in southeast Michigan to find out that’s it’s mediocre course. Sad because it a fantastic layout .
Worth The Drive
I was in Detroit area and looking for somewhere good to play. I figured I couldn't go wrong with Palmer.
I was not disappointed.
A very enjoyable round. No bev cart service on the day I played.
Great layout. Nice elevation changes.
Challenging, but fun
Based on reputation, we’ve had this course on our goal list all summer and it was well worth the hour’s drive to play it. The course has more elevation changes and sloping fairways and greens than typical southeastern Michigan courses which created unexpected challenges on top of the many water/marshland hazards and abundant sand traps. The course is very scenic. Fairways in good condition, but greens and tee boxes are in rough condition. Looking forward to playing again and hope for a better score (and maybe a few recovered balls) next time around.
Not as nice as expected
Not sure why but the course was rather wet despite not having rained in several days and it not being early in the morning. Also, several areas including the greens were in poor condition, little or no grass. Bunkers were as hard as a rock. Pace was very fast and staff very helpful and nice but the course needed more work.
greens were in bad shape so were tee boxex and alot of areas of fairway it is a great course but something killed alot of grass
Just like Northern Michigan Golf
A taste of Northern Michigan Golf in the Southeast area of MI. Front Nine fairways were beautiful and well kept - The back nine the Greens surpass The Fairway quality.
Things that can be improved; 1. Need Ball cleaner 2. Beverage Cart was average at best with the stuff they were selling. Not a great variety of drinks!! WATERS AND Gatorade were not Cold- Snacks were none existent. THE Cart girls were great!! And very friendly.
Better Signs for the hole. Locations 4. Maybe. Water- it was 90 degrees Areas of water jugs are high 5. Bag drop off area!!! 6. Did I say Beverage Cart / Snacks lol - I know they are small things - Small stuff like that is what sometimes separate courses. Catering to the Golf lee should be evident.
The Preserve does a great job but can be a top course if those things are improved I will return and being friends and maybe just maybe will love to do an outing Will see how the t goes. . .
