Coyote Preserve Golf Club
About
Coyote Preserve Golf Club in Fenton is one of the only courses in the area designed by Arnold Palmer. The course has a hilly terrain that provides plenty of elevation changes a well as stunning views. Tumbling across deep ravines and native wetlands, the layout requires many carries over dramatic depressions and water hazards but many are seemingly intimidating but actually quite reasonable. Massive, finely sculpted bunkers strategically frame the greensides of many holes. While some of them are manageable, others are deep and sod-faced. The tricky hazards in conjunction with the dramatic elevations demand both accuracy and creative shot-making. The golf course has a memorable finish with a par-5, risk-reward hole. There is ample room off the tee on this downhill, dogleg left hole and it presents a few different options for the second shot. With some thought, scoring par is definitely a possibility.

Great Trek
Everything in great condition except bunkers. Probably too many too maintain.
Great course!
This track is beautiful. I live close by and this is always a go to. Recently took some out of town relatives here and they loved it. It’s in great shape and the course has a ton of character. Plays tough, but a ton of fun!
Not What I Expected
With this being an AP course, I had high expectations. Guy at counter very annoying. Golf Cars were filthy, had to go back in for scorecard & pencil. Starter was first and only professional we spoke to that day. Will not go out of my way to play here again.
Fantastic shape
Challenging course in the best shape it’s been in years. I will definitely be playing there more this season.
Mow Please
You can see that at one point this was a much nicer course. Maintenance hasn’t been kept up and prior to a memorial weekend it didn’t look like Fairways or greens had been mowed in days possibly weeks on the fairways. Tee boxes were dying and general maintenance was obviously lacking. Course has some forced carries that are awful and #17 might be the worst hole I’ve ever played. Won’t go back and would never recommend it to anyone for the cost.
Hidden Gem
The coyote preserve is a wonderful example of classic arnie design..place your shots well, keep in play,be smart, and it still is HARD!not sure why this place feels like a hidden treasure, but wasn't busy at all .awesome layout, very friendly staff, definitely a do over
Very Challenging
Came here on invite of a friend who lives in area. Have played many upscale courses and this one ranks right up there. Only issue was condescending young man in Pro Shop (assistant pro?) who needs a few lessons on humility and learning how to talk to people who know a lot more than he does. Usually if i want advice on how to play, I will ask for it.
Other than that, very enjoyable day, beautiful course, and very nice grill room staff. My friend suggested we play later in the day next time.
Great surprise
We decided last second to take a long shot and play here. Went totally by pictures and reviews. Greens were very smooth and quick. Lots of interesting holes with generous fairways. Dont live anywhere near this course but will try and get back to the area to play again.
Good shape for early spring
This course is very challenging but if you place your shots and don’t be too aggressive you can shoot a pretty good score. Played early spring and though it was wet it was in really good shape. The greens are very undulating and challenging but rolled really well. Fairways were great and the rough was still pretty short. Most fairways slope quite a bit so you need to land your shots on high sides or you will roll off. The bunkers are deep and could all use more sand and a little work. Did find the cart paths are getting pretty rough. All in all this is a great course with nice elevation and a real northern Michigan feel.
Great round
My first time here. Challenging but not impossible. Really fun round. Beautiful course.
Don't read this!
See the problem is if your reading this, then more people are going to find this diamond in the rough and come to play the course.
This course isthe best all round course we have played all year.
We keep coming back because ofthe course, price, conditions and staff.
Great greens for speedy insulated greens...a few are inconsistent but that is most likely the time of year.
Bring some extra balls if you're are good or a hack.
Under 80 here is a great round. Juniors and families are more then welcome here.
Great course
Excellent traditional course with plenty of challenging holes.
16 17 18 are a lot of fun if you make par
Great course staff and all around great golf
Yes I would play this place again. The course has an up north feel with some generous size fairways and greens.
Greens were a bit inconsistent, but probably because the first 2 weren't cut yet.
Tee boxes for all abilities. I played from the tips and was challenged on all of the holes. My son 9 year old played from the reds and almost made a couple of pars.
This is one of the best courses we have played this year. Very happy with the driving range and practice area.
Layout is awesome!
Love this course, greens are fast and true! I will be back again and again.
Coyote Preserve has good golf value
The overall layout is modeled after up north Michigan with sequential and adjacent fairways never touching. Elevations vary hole by hole with much sand and water Challenging tee box locations throughout Greens are difficult to read and true to putt the course is well maintained everywhere. Highly recommend this challenging course. Not for the very high handicap golfer.
