Coyote Preserve Golf Club
About
Coyote Preserve Golf Club in Fenton is one of the only courses in the area designed by Arnold Palmer. The course has a hilly terrain that provides plenty of elevation changes a well as stunning views. Tumbling across deep ravines and native wetlands, the layout requires many carries over dramatic depressions and water hazards but many are seemingly intimidating but actually quite reasonable. Massive, finely sculpted bunkers strategically frame the greensides of many holes. While some of them are manageable, others are deep and sod-faced. The tricky hazards in conjunction with the dramatic elevations demand both accuracy and creative shot-making. The golf course has a memorable finish with a par-5, risk-reward hole. There is ample room off the tee on this downhill, dogleg left hole and it presents a few different options for the second shot. With some thought, scoring par is definitely a possibility.

#1 par 5...hit your drive over the white post. 2nd shot left of bunkers Photo submitted by Remmy1974 on 06/15/2016
Don't read this!
See the problem is if your reading this, then more people are going to find this diamond in the rough and come to play the course.
This course isthe best all round course we have played all year.
We keep coming back because ofthe course, price, conditions and staff.
Great greens for speedy insulated greens...a few are inconsistent but that is most likely the time of year.
Bring some extra balls if you're are good or a hack.
Under 80 here is a great round. Juniors and families are more then welcome here.
Great course
Excellent traditional course with plenty of challenging holes.
16 17 18 are a lot of fun if you make par
Great course staff and all around great golf
Yes I would play this place again. The course has an up north feel with some generous size fairways and greens.
Greens were a bit inconsistent, but probably because the first 2 weren't cut yet.
Tee boxes for all abilities. I played from the tips and was challenged on all of the holes. My son 9 year old played from the reds and almost made a couple of pars.
This is one of the best courses we have played this year. Very happy with the driving range and practice area.
Layout is awesome!
Love this course, greens are fast and true! I will be back again and again.
Coyote Preserve has good golf value
The overall layout is modeled after up north Michigan with sequential and adjacent fairways never touching. Elevations vary hole by hole with much sand and water Challenging tee box locations throughout Greens are difficult to read and true to putt the course is well maintained everywhere. Highly recommend this challenging course. Not for the very high handicap golfer.
You have to like hills and blind shots
If lots of sloping fairways and blind shots are enjoyable to you, this course is for you. It’s not my cup of tea and if in that neck of the woods I’d far prefer the Majestic, but it’s definitely interesting. I highly recommend playing up a tee box, as the course is extremely penal
What a find in Fenton
Wow! Hidden in the small town of Fenton, MI is an Arnold Palmer designed gem. This course is extremely scenic and VERY challenging so beginners should avoid this track. It has numerous forced carries over marsh and ravines, and significant elevation changes. The par 3's are wickedly long. I would have enjoyed having GPS on the carts so I could see the hole or at a minimum a 'Pro's Tips' sheet for us first time players. Pace of play was brisk on a very crowded day. I did not eat so I cannot comment on the food service. As a traveler, I would have liked a better selection of logo shirts in the pro shop.
Gem
Great course design by the King. I wish it was in better shape, but I blame the patrons more than the maintanence. Not fixed ball marks, I raked bunkers etc. the people who work there couldn’t be nicer, gentleman in the pro shop asked if it was my first time & gave me a complimentary yardage book since it was. It was a long ride for me but I will be back, saw some new real estate being build hopefully drawing in a more golf friendly customer base that will take better care of this gem. I would love to play this course in peak condition especially now that I know the layout
Nice course for everyone
Challenging course that will sharpen your course management
great staff
Great course and staff. Complete opposite of their sister course which for 20 yrs has been run by complete and total jerks. Coyote preserve went out of their way. great experience
Challenging
One of the top 3 courses in the area. Tough and challenging layout. Well done!
Above my skill level.
It was kind of a tough day for me, but the course was in great shape, greens got faster as the day went on. I need to work on my game more before I play it again.
Nice course
The course was in great shape with the greens being fast.
Good Course
Great track. Greens in good shape, rolling true.
Course conditioning was good.
Good value for the quality of the course.
A lot of demanding shots. Forced carries.
Very little margin for error. Shots beyond the cart path are usually lost. Uneven lies in the fairway
Nice elevation changes
Bev cart service decent
Nit Pick items.
Found only 2 ball wash stations hole 1 -10.
Found only a few water stations, stock up on refreshments, when going out.
Pro Shop is spartan, come prepared.
Some homes along the course are a bit tight.
Very nice course with nice greens. Fun to see Sand Cranes on the course.
Great Challenge
Played Coyote Preserve with a friend, both 6 handicaps. We played from the back tees. Course was a great challenge with a variety of holes and distance. It was difficult particularly playing the first time since the landing areas were unknown. Highly recommend it to test your game.
They need to clean up the hazards what used to be water is now just brush sticks and trash trees can’t really see anything because of the overgrowth. That’s not what Arnold intended on this design
