Coyote Preserve Golf Club
About
Coyote Preserve Golf Club in Fenton is one of the only courses in the area designed by Arnold Palmer. The course has a hilly terrain that provides plenty of elevation changes a well as stunning views. Tumbling across deep ravines and native wetlands, the layout requires many carries over dramatic depressions and water hazards but many are seemingly intimidating but actually quite reasonable. Massive, finely sculpted bunkers strategically frame the greensides of many holes. While some of them are manageable, others are deep and sod-faced. The tricky hazards in conjunction with the dramatic elevations demand both accuracy and creative shot-making. The golf course has a memorable finish with a par-5, risk-reward hole. There is ample room off the tee on this downhill, dogleg left hole and it presents a few different options for the second shot. With some thought, scoring par is definitely a possibility.

Great value & nice layout
Pro shop staff very nice , gave info on course conditions & speed of greens. Always liked the layout & conditions was good. Greens fast but manageable. Will go back Great course & value. I really like the way the starter handles the first tee.
Nice Layout
Everyones heard the good stuff about the course, here's the rest of the story... Sand is washin out of some of the traps-rocks showin through in places. The Greens have 2 types of grass this year-your typical greens grass and a type I'm not quite sure is a grass-might be a weed, but it grows up as fast as they cut it and bumps the ball all over the place resulting in more 3 putts than I'm used to.We paid a Golfnow price that made the course worth the money.
Very fun course
A great day for golf Sunny and hi 70's. The course and area are beautiful albeit very challenging. Don't be afraid to club up as many of the greens and landing areas are "all carry". Pace of play was great and staff was friendly and helpful. Couldn't ask for a better day. I expect that as the the season progresses, the course will become that much more terrific. I'll be back later this summer.
My forsome had a great time!
Love playing this course. It's in the middle of myself and all my buddies. Up north feel, with local prices!
Facilities
I was impressed with the course once again. I found the practice area suitable. Maybe one or two more holes on the putting green would have been nice as there was a back up. Distance signs on the driving range were also missing. If you are an armature like most all golfers there are and you're trying to sharpen your distance accuracy on your clubs it makes it difficult. Also, when I went in the locker room to change, I was very disappointed to see one of the beautiful wood lockers open and full of custodial supplies falling onto the floor. I never got any deeper in to find out if they had shower facilities which should be a must on a course like that.
tough course
take extra balls to this course, this is one of the hardest courses that I have played in a long time. Not very many flat lies.
Pace of play on the front nine was average, when we made the turn on the number 10 hole we ran into a 4 some that had teed off 1.5 hours before we did. The back nine took us 3 hours to play.
This is not a course to play if you are just learning the game, Very difficult!!!!!
Challenging and fun.
I never score well here, but that doesn't affect how much I like playing here. Much easier with course knowledge.
Great course for fall golf
Our group had a great experience on this course. The staff was very friendly. The course was well maintained even though there were fallen leaves all around. The color was beautiful and the layout of the course was challenging. We didn't golf our best but will remember the lessons the course taught us for our next visit. Each hole provided beautiful scenery along with a new challenge. We enjoyed ourselves and will definitely return.
payed before but had isuses with this roundi
had played here before and will come back but I was a disappointed in the greens and the bunkers for which not one was maintained for play
A Championship Lay out in Great Conditions!
A Fantastic Lay-out in Pristine conditions. % set of tees to make it fun or very challenging. Large greens with many small slopes and valleys. Putting is at a premium when missing hitting greens in Regulation. Great price for One of The Most beautiful courses in Michigan!
Beautiful and Challenging
The course was stunning and in terrific shape. The greens were challenging, incredibly fast, and difficult reads which led to high scores for us. Spent a lot of time in the sand as there were many bunkers to catch your misses.
The course advertises up north experience without the drive. I agree. The Coyote Preserve was very fun and challenging.
I would play The Coyote Preserve over and over. I have played there before and it's a great course. Unfortunately, when I played this time, it took well over five hours to complete the round. A ranger may have been able to speed up the pace of play on the groups in front of us. Other than that I have no complaints.
Beautiful Arnold Palmer Course
My favorite in the area if not all of lower Michigan. Everything about this course is great. Tee boxes, greens, fairways, staff, driving range, area, views. This is the course my wife and I would love to live on. The views are awesome and the golfing is second to none.
Overall a great place to relax and enjoy a round of golf. Very "Up-North" feel, several difficult holes. A challange for all levels of play.
Overall a great place to relax and enjoy a round of golf.
Great Course
Other than the very slow play on the back 9, the course was great. Will play again. Course was in great shape and very beautiful. Some very unique holes.
Had fun
Need to correct tee shots to blind fairways. No way of knowing when the group ahead is clear.
Challenging but fair
The course was in very good condition; facilities were clean and staff was very friendly. My only "complaint" is we played the first 14 holes in 3 hours, then caught group(s) in front of us and played the last 4 holes in 1.5 hours. As with most courses it seems, the lack of an on course marshall to keep play moving is a problem; and the only reason I rated this outing a "4 star" versus a "5 star".
Challenging but very friendly course.
Course was well maintained. Very friendly staff. Greens were a lot faster than they appeared. Pace of play was excellent for our foursome of 2 men and 2 women.
Only problem was no food available after our round.
Will recommend course to my friends. Will be back.
great layout and interesting holes
the course is beautiful and well designed. The issue is that the bunker sand was bad and had rocks in areas. The greens were very slow. The pro shop said they did not have much rain overnight but some bunkers were full of water and I don't think the greens were cut. I played once last year and the greens had been aerated so I was hoping for greens comparable to the rest of the course and was not happy with them.
Fun, Challenging Layout
Would love to go back for a second time and play 16-18 (poor man's Amen Corner) with a more level head. Awesome scenery and challenge. If the course was in pristine shape, it wouldn't be a golfnow hot deal. Thought bunkers could use more sand and greens could be a tad better.
