Coyote Preserve Golf Club in Fenton is one of the only courses in the area designed by Arnold Palmer. The course has a hilly terrain that provides plenty of elevation changes a well as stunning views. Tumbling across deep ravines and native wetlands, the layout requires many carries over dramatic depressions and water hazards but many are seemingly intimidating but actually quite reasonable. Massive, finely sculpted bunkers strategically frame the greensides of many holes. While some of them are manageable, others are deep and sod-faced. The tricky hazards in conjunction with the dramatic elevations demand both accuracy and creative shot-making. The golf course has a memorable finish with a par-5, risk-reward hole. There is ample room off the tee on this downhill, dogleg left hole and it presents a few different options for the second shot. With some thought, scoring par is definitely a possibility.

Beautiful setting and great layout, but...

For a course that lays out as nice as this one, I really expected much better greens. They were very slow and rough and the ball did not roll smoothly. We golfed early afternoon, so I don't think is was a mowing problem. My friends in the group said they were actually better than in the past.

I don't think I would pay the regular rate to play here. But if you can find a decent discount rate, it is worth the money. It's kind of a shame, as the course is really nice looking.

Good Condition - poor pace of play

The course was in good shape and was fun to play; unfortunately the pace of play was horrendous! 5.5 hours, waiting on every shot. It was a saturday though so it may not always be that slow.

Some challenging holes

This was my first time playing Coyote Preserve. Enjoyed the course, some challenging holes. Very friendly staff. Great practice facilities. My only criticism would be that I expected the greens to be faster and smoother. Found them a bit inconsistent and a lot slower than I expected based on the rest of the course.

wow! what a course

Possibly the best value I've ever had in golf! Course was in perfect condition, well thought out layout with beautiful evelation changes and some nice risk/reward holes. Simply awesome! Greens were a little on the slow side, but that's getting very picky.

One of the best

Probably my favorite course in the area. If you were to parachute in, you might think you landed in northern MI. Great, visually stunning, layout. Nice mix of trees, water, hills, bunkers, and undulating greens. Can play really tough from the tips, but a decent challenge for sure, from any tee box. I've always found it to be in good to great shape. I always manage to see some neat wildlife roaming on or around the course. With a golfnow tee time, you can't beat the value! One of the few places I like to play over and over.

The course was worth playing.

The course has a nice layout and is challenging but rewards you for decent shots. The greens were hard to read due to the different coloration of grass. There were a lot of lighter spots all over the greens. However, the fairways were in great shape. The pace of play was great. A foursome playing in 4 hours on a Sunday is unheard of around here.

Very challenging but fun!

It is a great course that challenges you on every hole. It demands that you use almost every club in your bag. It was very enjoyable and we would definitely go back again.

Arnold Palmer Course!

Coyote Preserve was in the best condition I have ever seen it in. I have played this course for 3 years and the greens were in excellent conditions for being so early in the season. Very glad I made the reservation.

Great course with lots of elevation changes

This is a must play if you are in the NW Metro Detroit area. It is a bit out of the way but will provide a fantastic day of golf. The course is a par 71 with 5 par threes that are extremely challenging. Take a look at the alternate green on #9 and try and decide what type of score that you would get on it. It is a great track and you will use all your bag here. Have fun

This Lovely Course Requires an 'A' Game

I love this course!
1) Beautiful setting and every hole is a different experience.
2) Good shots are rewarded while poor ones are usually punished with a visit to the water, woods, or high brush.
3) I usually find over 40 lost balls to add to my collection every time I play this course. To all the high handicappers out there who've played Coyote Preserve, Thanks!

PS. As A 16 Index I've shot as low as 82 here when my 'A' game was working. I've also had my share of 98's when not.

Great layout. Solid course

Awsome layout. The course is generally in pretty good condition. Some bunkers had new sand and were awesome. Others were hard with old sand. The course is not in as good of condition as it used to be when it first opened up. but it is still in decent to very decent shape. What I like most is just the track itself. Excellent variety of hole layouts. The course is a great value for the money with the GolfNow rates or twilte. Otherwise it is still a fair deal. For the most part, I've found that the staff could be a little friendlier.

Fantastic course. Difficult, but an average golfer can play it from the whites and have a good time. Fun variety of holes. Excellent condition. If you can get a good deal, it's a must play.
