About
Situated just a few minutes from Muskegon, Stonegate Golf Club in Stone Lake sprawls across gently rolling hills that are surrounded by the beauty of the Manistee National Forest. The undulating terrain provides dramatic elevation changes that can give you a different round every time you play. Although there are residences bordering the golf course, it still feels completely secluded thanks to the sheltering trees and pristine natural setting that is accented with marshes and ponds. The golf course has a variety of greens, most are slightly raised and some are open in front while others have slopes and bunkers protecting them. The putting surfaces roll true with only a few mild undulations. Stonegate's fairways can be tricky since they’re lined with mature pines and hardwoods and more often than not you’ll find one or more bunkers guarding the most opportune landing areas.

End of Season, 2020
A great challenging layout amongst all of the trees. My son and I drove up from GVSU to give it a try, and discovered MANY leaves on several greens on the front nine. To be expected this time of year.
Straightforward holes, with only a few "I wish I had known that was there" moments. A more descriptive birds eye layout of each hole would be helpful on the scorecard; the overall course layout is pretty tiny to pick up details. That would be a nice second reference to whichever golf distance app you are using.
That said, yhe pace was great, teed off at 2pm, hoping to beat darkness, and we caught up to a foursome on #4, waiting every shot until #8 when they allowed us through. We buzzed through the back nine before catching another 4some on #16, but still stepped off of #18 by 515p, leaving about 20 minutes of playtime.
We will give this course another round in the spring/summer. Excellent day!

This course was in great shape and the greens were the toughest I have ever played. It was easy getting to the greens, but hard dropping a put.

One of the better golf courses in Muskegon area.

Amazing Course and Value - Best in Area
Top golf course in the Muskegon area - great practice area. Has a pro shop and bar area. The course has tees that range for all skill levels, greens were in tremendous shape as well as the rest of the course. I would highly recommend!

Stonegate Golf Review
The course was in pretty good shape except they aerating the tee boxes and the greens had a lot of ball marks and scuff marks from people dragging their feet. The fairways had a lot of divots. The greens did roll nicely and held shots into them and the putting line pretty well.

Up north feel without the hours and hours drive
What a view at this place. The holes are etched out of big pine trees so it’s got that feel like you are in the north woods. Not too many houses and not that close to the fairway either.
It helped I played well and didn’t spray the ball off the tee it my 2 plying partners didn’t lose too many balls either. Enough room to not lose balls like crazy.
The only thing missing from an up north course is the massive elevation change. Somw blind tee shots but the GN app GPS and some good yardage books in the golf shop made it even for a first timer very playable.
Conditions were mint, best greens I’ve played on this year. Early am round, perfect weather of course and can’t wait to go back and play the back.

Really nice layout, friendly staff, brutal pace
Title sums it up.
Nice course, good condition, friendly people, but they could use a ranger on the day we played. Four hours and forty five minutes. We waited on every shot.
I assume it is an aberration. I’d go back.

Great Staff, Better Course!
After a fishing trip was cancelled, we decided to find a golf course nearby to play a round. We were greeted by extremely friendly staff and very pleased with the course accommodations. The layout and upkeep on the course was top notch! Beautiful course and a lot of fun, highly recommended!

Overall great course!
Course was in great shape; fairways and greens were above average. I found the course to be challenging enough while allowing a par-bogey golfer to have fun. I would suggest this course to friends.

Great local course
First time playing Stonegate. Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. They have a driving range, short game area and putting green for warming up. Great little track. Definitely recommend!

Beautiful Course
This course is one of nicest in the area. It’s well kept and the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The only thing that wasn’t great was the biting flies. If they could get a handle on that, it would make Stonegate my favorite course. Still a great place to golf
