About
Situated just a few minutes from Muskegon, Stonegate Golf Club in Stone Lake sprawls across gently rolling hills that are surrounded by the beauty of the Manistee National Forest. The undulating terrain provides dramatic elevation changes that can give you a different round every time you play. Although there are residences bordering the golf course, it still feels completely secluded thanks to the sheltering trees and pristine natural setting that is accented with marshes and ponds. The golf course has a variety of greens, most are slightly raised and some are open in front while others have slopes and bunkers protecting them. The putting surfaces roll true with only a few mild undulations. Stonegate's fairways can be tricky since they’re lined with mature pines and hardwoods and more often than not you’ll find one or more bunkers guarding the most opportune landing areas.

Nicely maintained
Course was in great shape. Set back from any vehicle noise, it’s a lovely wooded course with some narrow fairways bordered by trees. I’m an ok golfer and although challenging, I wasn’t overwhelmed.
The course is in beautiful condition. The greens are fast and true. This was my first time playing this course and if I am ever in the area again I would definitely play the second time.

This place is always perfect! Was very busy and glad to see they had a course marshal keeping play moving along
Great layout
I play here at least a few times a year. Great layout, love playing here when I get the chance. It’s challenging and I recommend everyone that’s in the area to play this course!
West Michigan's Top Course
Hidden gem championship golf course in a beautiful setting through the rolling hills with Bent grass tees, fairways and fast greens. Love this course!
End of Season, 2020
A great challenging layout amongst all of the trees. My son and I drove up from GVSU to give it a try, and discovered MANY leaves on several greens on the front nine. To be expected this time of year.
Straightforward holes, with only a few "I wish I had known that was there" moments. A more descriptive birds eye layout of each hole would be helpful on the scorecard; the overall course layout is pretty tiny to pick up details. That would be a nice second reference to whichever golf distance app you are using.
That said, yhe pace was great, teed off at 2pm, hoping to beat darkness, and we caught up to a foursome on #4, waiting every shot until #8 when they allowed us through. We buzzed through the back nine before catching another 4some on #16, but still stepped off of #18 by 515p, leaving about 20 minutes of playtime.
We will give this course another round in the spring/summer. Excellent day!

This course was in great shape and the greens were the toughest I have ever played. It was easy getting to the greens, but hard dropping a put.
