Stonegate Golf Club

Give you the feeling that your on a fine Northern Michigan golf course without the long drive. Can be alitte long from the tee box just back from the red so play the red if you want it's still a challenge.

A friend highly recommended Stonegate. What a beautiful setting! It's only 3 miles off US 31, but seems like middle of know where. Easy to get to and very welcoming as soon as you pull in. Nice practice range with great short game area. Pro shop and grille room are clean and welcoming with a great deck that elevates over the beautiful 9th hole and green. Great food! Friendly Staff to boot!the layout is awesome as the undulating fairways cut through the the tall trees of the Manistee forest. I like how the course still gives you enough room to hit it astray though. Greens have nice speed and just enough undulation to provide a challenge. Tee times are every 10 minutes which helps with pace of play. It was pretty busy, but there was a starter and my group moved around in 4 hrs 5 min. Nice to have a corse with that up North feel within an hour of my house. Wish i lived close enough to be a member.

Course was in very good condition and the pace of play was nice and smooth. I will definitely golf there again!!

Stonegate is one of the finer course for the $$$ in West Michigan...great layout in a totally quiet, pristine environment...friendly staff...great golf pro in Ty Love...the course is in great shape and ready to be enjoyed.

A bit cool to start the round, but a great day on the course. The pace was fast, the course in great condition. Friendly staff, will return again!

I would consider this course average. I've played nicer. Overall pleasant experience.

Fairways haven't been cut in a while. Hardly a difference between fairway & rough. Slow greens. Way over priced for the condition. Homeowners on # 7 were rude & loud as tee box is right behind home.

My partner and I had a very enjoyable round of golf at Stonegate. I loved the course and will definitely play it again (and again). Good value for the money.

Greens were the main downside of the course as they either were overplayed or the heat got them. Love the layout and you better be accurate on the front side.Staff was great and would recommend for a great experience in Western MI.

Great course and conditions were very good for lack of rain.

Will be playing again soon.

A fun course. Some course knowledge helps on a few holes because of a couple ravines but they provide a yardage guide along with a scorecard. Enjoy!

Challenging course, but not too hard.

I love the idea of teeing off on a Sunday morning at 6:50am and completing 18 holes by 10:30am. The staff was very helpful in getting us out and on time. The course is in good condition and the greens were fast, undulating and challenging. The fairways were in good shape and the rough was penalizing but not impossible. Just the way the rough should be. Some of the tee boxes and greens were showing signs of stress but not too bad. All in all a very good value for the money.

Thoroughly enjoyed this course! We have played courses around the country and really this may be our favorite. Beautiful setting, peaceful, challenging, great staff! Would recommend this course 100%!

Pace was a little slow on the front nine- ranger finally intervened. The has been in better shape in the past but it's still one of my favorite courses in the area

Had the place to ourselves on the 4th of July weekend.

After reading reviews, I must have come in with unfairly high expectations. I was extremely disappointed with the conditions of the front 9, maybe we just caught it on a bad day and being late afternoon. Things improved on the back 9 regarding conditions and layout. Nice course, just a little disappointed.

I make a point to play Stonegate at least once a year when I visit the region. I don't think I have ever really had a bad time.

This year was a bit different. I played in the morning, as I always do. There were so many millions of bugs on the course I could barely breathe without getting a lung full of insects. I have never seen it this bad. It was bad enough to make me consider leaving after 9 holes (but I stuck it out.) I don't think I'll ever play here again in the spring.

Other than the bugs, Stonegate is a nice course. It's always in good condition, and provides a good amount of challenges.

Two issues I do have, however, are these:

It's a community golf course. Residents of the community tend to treat it as their back yard.

-This last round I was held up more than once by someone using the greens as their personal practice area (this happened on 3 different holes.)

-On another hole, I was held up by a woman using the course as a dog park.

-On the back nine I was held up again by a gentleman using the hole behind his house to teach his very young grandson the game.

I know not much can be done about this, but it gets annoying. I can imagine if it were busy, it would really cut into the pace of play.

Secondly, if you play in the morning, you will always be stalked by grounds crew on their big noisy machines. They follow you to almost every tee, and watch you play. It's a little unnerving.

Great course!! I can't wait to play again. See you next season.
