Stonegate Golf Club
About
Situated just a few minutes from Muskegon, Stonegate Golf Club in Stone Lake sprawls across gently rolling hills that are surrounded by the beauty of the Manistee National Forest. The undulating terrain provides dramatic elevation changes that can give you a different round every time you play. Although there are residences bordering the golf course, it still feels completely secluded thanks to the sheltering trees and pristine natural setting that is accented with marshes and ponds. The golf course has a variety of greens, most are slightly raised and some are open in front while others have slopes and bunkers protecting them. The putting surfaces roll true with only a few mild undulations. Stonegate's fairways can be tricky since they’re lined with mature pines and hardwoods and more often than not you’ll find one or more bunkers guarding the most opportune landing areas.

Nice Course
Stonegate is a very nice course and the staff is one of the friendliest. With the amount of rain that we've had this spring, most courses have a lot of water in places there usually isn't any, but not at Stonegate. That might seem small but being able to play your ball where it lies and not having to fish it out of a pond in the middle of the fairway is nice. Overall, one of the best golf courses overall.
Difficult but fair .
Great course. Will be going back with the discounted golf price.
difficult course but kept you in the game with the next hole.
Quiet solitude
Stonegate is one of my favorite courses in Michigan. The course is very well maintained and the atmosphere is quiet. The only thing you hear are the birds and occasionally a golfer making a good or bad shot.

What a great course....excellent condition....fun to play...very beautiful course...LOVED PLAYING STONEGATE...
Fun Course Greens a little off
Great value overall and a fun track. Staff was great, pace was awesome. I played this course a few years back and remembered thinking the greens were fantastic. They were spotty bumpy and slow now, I'm sure our winter this year had a lot to do with that. I would go back
stonegate review
I enjoyed the course lay out. It had a nice change of elevation. But I didn't like the firmness of the greens and the quickness. It was very hard to get the ball close to the hole. Balls didn't check up well and seemed to roll extensively . We didn't get to practice on the putting greens because they were being watered. So it took some time to get use to them.
Over all it was average . They also needed more yardage variation on ALL the par 4's They seemed to be all between 360 to 390.

A great course challenging fast green beautiful setting
Good course
Nice layout. Lots of options off the tees. Always in good condition. Kind of pricey for the area (regular prices) but the staff is always friendly and more than helpful. Would definitely recommend.
Beautiful course in a beautiful setting, great greens.
We played as a two-sum and never seen another group in front or behind us until the sixteenth hole, at that time it was apparent that the resistant/members kids were allowed to take the course in a shot gun style and make a nuisance of themselves. I still will give the course 5 stars just because of the great shape and layout. If played from the white tee's the average golfer should find the course quite challenging, if played from the blue your game will need to be on.I enjoyed the greens the most they are in great shape and roll true.No matter where you play from, you will need your putter to be working.Looking forward to playing again.
Up north feel but close to home!
I played this course recently and they had just aerated the greens, so was not happy with that part of the course, otherwise this is a great track and fun to play. All green supt. should do what St. Ives recently did and only aerate 1/2 of the green now and put pins in non-aerated portion of the green for excellent putting. Then a week or two later come back and do the other portion of the green. This is a must play course for any West Michigan golfer. Up north feel and layout without the 2-4 hour drive.
nice course well maintained
Nice course nice layout with a good mixture of holes
Great Course, beautiful lay-out, very fast greens, just aerated the greens.
Played on Wed Sep 18, they had just aerated the greens the day before , but had not over sanded the holes, that will take place in the next couple of days. The greens were a little more difficult when playing due to the aeration , but overall the greens were very fast. The rest of the course was in great shape. I noticed that some sites (Diamond Springs) had an aeration warning posted on the site) this did not. Also well maintained sand traps. This was my first time playing this course, and it presented challenges, but I would definitely play it again.
Well manicured and super design
Very enjoyable course. Not an easy course, but very playable.
Some very very pretty holes.
Greens were true
Course was in great shape. Great price. Greens were true.
wonderful course
This a private country club style course. It is in a beautiful setting with many challenging holes. It is well maintained and run professionally. A little pricey in season but well worth the experience. Ted
Awesome layout, fun to play!
Stonegate is a awesome golf course! Take the time to go and play this course, you won't be disappointed !
what a beautiful course
I went with my wife and there were a couple holes with long carry for her. all in all I loved the course.
Awesome
Best Public Course in West Michigan! The greens are difficult, approach shots are critical. My only negative comment would be, that the cart paths are paved the full length of each hole. So a missed fairway on your drive could possibly lead to hitting the cart path and losing it in the woods.
great day at a great course
Guys in the clubhouse very nice . Pace of play excellent.
picture card beautiful
it is a great course, greens very challenging. Well kept and plenty of options to play from regarding tees. Would play it again and again
