Stonegate Golf Club
About
Situated just a few minutes from Muskegon, Stonegate Golf Club in Stone Lake sprawls across gently rolling hills that are surrounded by the beauty of the Manistee National Forest. The undulating terrain provides dramatic elevation changes that can give you a different round every time you play. Although there are residences bordering the golf course, it still feels completely secluded thanks to the sheltering trees and pristine natural setting that is accented with marshes and ponds. The golf course has a variety of greens, most are slightly raised and some are open in front while others have slopes and bunkers protecting them. The putting surfaces roll true with only a few mild undulations. Stonegate's fairways can be tricky since they’re lined with mature pines and hardwoods and more often than not you’ll find one or more bunkers guarding the most opportune landing areas.

This course makes you feel like you are WAY up north-very quiet and is well maintained.
We got stuck behind some guys who wouldn't let us play through on the back nine-Other than that, we were smooth sailing.
Great Course To Play With 'Hot Deal'
First time playing Stonegate, and overall I liked the course. Very well maintained, with challenging greens. Super friendly staff--met me in the parking lot with a cart, and let me tee off early.
Reserved $15 'Hot Deal' on a Thursday afternoon, and would recommend this as the way to go. Played 18 solo in 2 hours and 50 minutes. I don't think I'd pay the full price for this course, but that's why I use GolfNow.
Score: 86
Par: 72
Great course, quiet conditions, really enjoyed the course. Loved the layout and look forward to playing it again.
Overall, loved the course. The tee boxes were in great shape, the fairways lush and the greens rolled nicely. Other than a couple unfair pin placements the greens were for the most part fair and reasonable to read. We played mid-week, late afternoon just before the league started play and it was not busy at all, never had to wait for anyone and we were a twosome. There were a few pesky flies but not too bad that it bothered us. I'd say it is one of the "top 5 courses to play" along the lakeshore for around $50 a round.
A good test of golf .
Has a variety of holes with honest par fives. The course is in good condition.
Course was great - very rolling, several hazards, lots of sand.
Fairways were in great shape; greens were a bit chewed up. Many ball marks on greens never repaired, which is a shame since it is a nice course.
Staff met us at our car with a cart when we arrived.
Used a "hot deal" so the price was fabulous.
Out of the courses control...
The one big knock on the course, is the relentless attack of 'black flies!' Even with being soaked in insect spray, they never back off so focusing on making shots became very difficult.
Good test, some interesting holes. quite pleased at the value
Fun golf course, hard enough without being ridiculous. Played the blue tees at 6400 yards, about right
Great golf
Very nice greens and layout. Great place for the money.
Perfect conditions
Greens were perfect and roughs were thick. Staff was really accommodating.
Greens are tough
Course was in great shape but the greens were very hard. Tough to get a ball to hold. The did roll very true and smooth when putting though.
Excellent course, lots of variety, one of the top 2 or 3 courses in W. Mi.
Greens are fast and undulating but fair. Fairways are well maintained and wide in the landing zones. Clientele are experienced and good golfers. Always a very positive experience.
Great challenging features for golfers at all levels.
The fairways are plush and the rough was about what one would expect. Greens were fast compared to other courses.
highly recomended.
I love playing this course. It is beautifully laid out. Bring your short game and putting skills though the greens are challenging.
Best course in the area.
Stonegate Golf Course is the best course in the greater Muskegon area. They offer some fantastic holes with quick firm greens. It is just a very clean cut course. The only negative is the bugs, which going to find almost everywhere this year. Stonegate is a must play.
Greens were not in the best of condition
The course was in decent condition, the only issued I had was that the grass had just been cut and there was an excessive amount of grass clippings in the fairways. The greens were not in great condition, but were okay.
One of the best around
This is a very nice course for the Muskegon/Twin Lake area. Each hole has its own feel to it. The course is not overly challenging but is not a breeze either. The greens could use some repair but are otherwise in great shape. Some great options for different shots on this course and highly recommend for anyone looking to play in the Muskegon or surrounding areas.
Course was great-bring bug spray!
The course is very nice and was in excellent condition. We had a great time. The mosquitos were very bad though, so bring bug spray!
Great Course
Excellent condition. I have played here several times in the past so I could not pass up the deal through GolfNow!! $20
Fun to play.
The fairway landing areas are pretty wide. Some of the par 4s offer a challenge to get there in 2. Lots of variety. Nice greens.
If this course were in Northern Michigan it would be an $75 deal.
Amazing course in a beautiful setting
This is a beautiful course in a great setting. Mature tree lined fairways make you feel isolated. There is a good variety of holes on both nines with short par 4's and longer par 4's and interesting par 3's. The back nine is more memorable but the front was still enjoyable. The greens are the fastest I have ever played by far. They are in great shape but in certain spots depending on pin location are unfair. The 10th hole had a pin location the day we went that was very unfair. I made a putt that went past the hole and came back into the hole. This was of course after the first putt ran past the hole ten feet when it was dying near the hole
and should have gone 6-12 inches past
