Stonegate Golf Club

About
Situated just a few minutes from Muskegon, Stonegate Golf Club in Stone Lake sprawls across gently rolling hills that are surrounded by the beauty of the Manistee National Forest. The undulating terrain provides dramatic elevation changes that can give you a different round every time you play. Although there are residences bordering the golf course, it still feels completely secluded thanks to the sheltering trees and pristine natural setting that is accented with marshes and ponds. The golf course has a variety of greens, most are slightly raised and some are open in front while others have slopes and bunkers protecting them. The putting surfaces roll true with only a few mild undulations. Stonegate's fairways can be tricky since they’re lined with mature pines and hardwoods and more often than not you’ll find one or more bunkers guarding the most opportune landing areas.

Westside gem
My wife and I enjoyed ourselves very much of this new course. Layout is great, holes pretty much are alone from the others all the way thru. Course in great shape despite recent rain storms. Great course if you are on the west side of Michigan.
Slow play the last two times we have played. 4 1/2 + hrs.
WOW
You won’t be disappointed. Just play it!
Nice layout, otherwise just fair.
First time playing this course and was a bit disappointed. The course layout is really nice, and very challenging. Requires course management and technical accuracy on a lot of holes. Scenery was nice when we played it in the summer, but is probably even nicer in the fall.
Outside of the layout, however, there wasn't a lot to recommend it.
There was no starter and no marshal, and between that and the difficult nature of the layout, the pace of play was maybe the worst I've ever experienced. The course was dry and the greens still uneven. Green speeds varied a lot across holes. No beverage/snack cart seen and limited offerings on site. No gps on carts, and only tiny overview of holes on the scorecard.
For the money, I'll probably go elsewhere, but if you can find a quiet day and are looking for a challenge then maybe this is a good option for you.
Great course but bring your own snacks.
I’ve played Stonegate a number of times and the course itself is usually in tremendous shape and is a great value. I’ve played here the last two days - the Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. Again the course was in great shape. There was not a starter or a ranger to be found but with a full tee sheet they really should watch this. Play was a it slow but not awful. A number of singles were let out and they would catch us and then turn around and jump holes. Not a big deal and we were playing good golf - mid to low 70’s by my partner and I was low 80’s.
My only real complaint is that there is minimal beverage and bar service. As a business owner myself, I can’t imagine leaving all that profit on the table by not having drinks and snacks readily available with a beverage cart and a active bar and grill on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend.
It still is a very nice course that is well taken care of and a great value. Just bring your own drinks and snacks is my only recommendation.
Great course, slow pace of play
Course was in excellent conditions, except arguably the greens which ran super fast, but that’s also due to the fact we haven’t gotten any rain lately and I adjusted like any other golfer would do. Fairways and tee boxes were in good shape, even the rough. The most negative part of everything was the slow pace of play once we hit the back 9. This middle-older aged couple was playing horrendously slow to the point where there were 4 groups, including ourselves, waiting on one tee box and they must’ve not known golfers etiquette because they didn’t let anyone pass them. We had to skip 18 due to a time constraint.
Green are not good, yet.
A group of 4 of us played on Friday April 28th. The course was in good shape except for the greens. Every green was patchy and the ball just bounced around. It made putting a nightmare. This is a really good course but for the money, skip it till later in the season.

Great course!!
I've been looking for a new course to play and have been spying this one out since 2022. Played 18 today and cant say enough about this track! Extremely friendly staff, great carts, well maintained course and true greens are just a few items that pop out when I think of my round today. If you have a chance to book a tee time get out here and play!!
Beautiful Track!
Great course! Just st wish I had brought my "A" game!
Always a treat to play
We love this course. It has the up north feel with tree lined generous fairways. A hidden gem of a course.
