About
Highlands Ridge offers 36 holes of championship golf, which form the centerpiece of the upscale residential community. It's one central Florida's most popular golf destinations. The courses, the North and the South, share the same scenic landscape but they provide very different rounds. The North Course is known for its outstanding conditions. The designer, Dave Harman, modeled the course after Kauri Cliffs in New Zealand, which was recognized as the Best New International Course in 2011 by Golf Digest. The layout is not as challenging as the South Course, making it more appealing for beginners. Water hazards come into play on a few holes and there are some strategically placed bunkers to contend with. There is also rough along the fairways and greensides that can be particularly punishing.

The course is in great condition. Play moved along nicely and everyone was friendly and professional.
Nice
Course looked and played nice pace of play was about 3 and a half hours. Greens were in great condition so a 4.5 stars. If not for the drive of hour and half would play there more regularly.
Highlands North
Had a bit of trouble with my reservation and tee time but Golfnow got it straightened out and i had a very nice round on a very windy day. Golf course has a great layout and is very nicely maintained, with really nice turf all the way through. Fast firm undulating greens were definetly a challenge. Highly recommend a round here, probably Highlands county best course....
staff issues
Extremely angry and unprofessional pro shop man. With two holes left he drives up to me enraged and yelling ... you would’ve thought I was driving my cart around in circles on the putting surface!!! “never come back here!” I’m still not even sure what’s going on. He tells me I’ve been out playing for six hours. NOT TRUE! Not sure his name but a heavy guy wearing a fake gold Rolex. Upon completion of the 18th hole I search for my receipt to prove that I had finished in under four hours. I approached him and tried to show him the receipt but he just kept yelling at me. This turned such a pleasurable experience into misery! If I were a member / homeowner I’d be concerned about management.
I guess the pro shop guy wins though. I won’t be back or recommend this course to anyone!

Good challenging course
Course is a lot of fun without being overly difficult. You are rewarded if you hit the fairway and punished if you don’t. Greens rolled really well and will be back
haveing trouble with ring mold on all greens and not much grass in fairways

Rained out
We liked the course layout and the few holes we played were in excellent condition, but when the rain came and did not quit we had to give it up. We can't wait to get back and play all 18 holes of this course, it looks great.

Greens are true
5 star course with 3 star cost. Tees for all levels of play. Very challenging and a shot makers format ( Lots of doglegs). Greens are sloped. Fun Fun Fun
Lynx type course
Exceptionally nice layout. Staff in pro shop and starter very friendly. Course was booked solid. Play was slow with waits on every tee. Greens are good 7 out of 10 rating. Fairways are green, but have a lot of intrusion grasses such as St. Augustine. Nice course, overall.

This course is in really great shape. It's a must play course for any golfer that loves the game...
Very Nice
This is a very nice course. It is in excellent shape, and you can see the care taken by maintenance. Attention to detail, is very noticeable here. The greens are moderately fast, but easy to read. I would strongly recommend this golf course.
this course has challanging features
this course may look wide open at first glance at each hole but you pay for not being in the fairways with a thick deep rough. A fun course to play. nice greens.

This course is always in good condition.. Was a little slow checking in, had to wait for someone.
Give These Guys a Round of Applause
No better course for the money, take the money out and there's still no better course in the area - I try to play every time I'm in the Highlands, always maintained well, course management is great, never issues with one of play. Quiet, clean, surrounded by nature, you're paying $22 for a course that if located anywhere but Avon park could charge $100/round easy.
Just go play there, you're welcome.
