North Course at Highlands Ridge
About
Highlands Ridge offers 36 holes of championship golf, which form the centerpiece of the upscale residential community. It's one central Florida's most popular golf destinations. The courses, the North and the South, share the same scenic landscape but they provide very different rounds. The North Course is known for its outstanding conditions. The designer, Dave Harman, modeled the course after Kauri Cliffs in New Zealand, which was recognized as the Best New International Course in 2011 by Golf Digest. The layout is not as challenging as the South Course, making it more appealing for beginners. Water hazards come into play on a few holes and there are some strategically placed bunkers to contend with. There is also rough along the fairways and greensides that can be particularly punishing.

Reviews
Paradise returning
My wife and I have been coming to Highlands Ridge for three winters now. This is the best shape the North Course has been in. There are a few rough spots near edges of fairways and the greens could be a little quicker, but they do roll true. There are a few tight holes and many others with generous fairways. Doglegs are challenging with well placed fairway traps. The staff are great here and they do their best to pair up couples. This is a must play course if you are in the area!
my golf day
Enjoyed the course and will play it again, it was fun, greens were nice and fast.
Crabgrass issues
Highlands Ridge North is a great course but they have definitely let invasive grasses like crabgrass overtake some of the fringes, tees, and aprons.
recovering
This course fell into disrepair last year but now it's recovering . The greens are true and a good roll..about a 10 steep...not fast but fast enough. Very consistent roll. Greens and fringes still have some sparse/sporadic alien grass that dOes not interfere...cosmetic only. Same it's true of tees and
Fairways. Pro shop people, starter et al are very friendly and polite. Dew on my cart seat was not very pleasant, though. Great design and beautiful nature preserve...saw ducks, cranes, loons, painted box turtle, and one scared and befuddled armadillo, like me on 12 and 15 tee.
Highlands Ridge North
Excellent staff course in very good condition. week they say my review is to short, sorry about that but I am a man of few words.
Great layout poor condition
The course is pretty beat up after the summer when they overseed it may be better around mid November good value for $20 but not worth the rack rate
Fun Course
The course was in excellent shape. The greens had been sanded so played a little slow. The course has a number of challenging holes.
Best course in Highlands County
Course was in good shape some patchy bare spots on fairways but overall good shape with rolling hills and dog legs. Green were great shape a true beverage cart not available so byob, restaruant was open of you want a bite to eat. There staff was friendly and welcome me even with low rate without complaints. I would definitely would tell other golfers to play here and bring my friends. Go try it, it will bring out the best in your game.
i love this course
I love this course. the greens were great , speeding
and true. put the ball on the right line its in. Fairways were lush. put the ball in the fairway and you don't have to touch them. Can't wait to go back . The only hold up was the weather got bad. Lightning was terrible only got to play 9 holes.
Highlands Ridge North
The course was in good shape. The greens are better now than they were a couple of months ago. Always a very good course to play.
Sure
Good lay out, poor conditions. Not a much of a concern at $20 so I would say give it a try. Watch the directions! I came from Naples and got directed through a shady part of town on MLK ( ?!) and I would strongly suggest you avoid that part of the journey in Sebring.
One of the nicer courses in Highlands County
The course is in good condition and a challenging layout.
I got the "hot deal" from a Golf Now. Could not pass up playing such a nice course.
To round out the foursome I met some really nice guys from Polk County.
Great Golf
This place is great. Greens were perfect and well taken care of. Everything was perfect and well groomed. Staff was very friendly and knowledgable.
Get ready
Nice lay out, abit tighter than the south. Ball placement is a most, it will help with the set up of the next shot.
One of the nicest courses in our area
Will definitely play there again. Very good value for mid-April golf. Total cost including all fees and taxes was less than $30.
One of best courses in Highlands County
Greens are large and a little hard but will soften up when summer rains start.
Watch out for hidden hazards due to course undulations.
Over all - a pleasure to play.
spud pei
Excellent, one of the best conditioned courses we played during our stay.
enjoyable but greens a bit bumpy
Played in a shotgun start to make up a 4 some so got a good deal. Course is enjoyable with a good variation of holes. Some wide open with no trees but water to some tree lined fairly tight fairways and plenty of doglegs. So a good Florida course. However the greens were a bit bumpy and not up to the standard of others we played but were ok. I play off 8 and wife off 21 and we both enjoyed it
great customer service
Greens were a little spotty, but otherwise in good shape. Fairways in great shape and overall condition of course was good.
Has a nice upscale quality.
One of the best courses for the money that I have played in the area. The course was very well maintained throughout and the staff was excellent. I would definitely recommend playing this course for anyone visiting the area.
