Clearwater Country Club
About
Located just minutes from the beach, the conveniently situated Clearwater Country Club sprawls across a coastal landscape of Spanish moss-draped trees and towering, mature oaks. Stevenson Creek meanders through the golf course, coming into play on six holes. Built in 1920, the layout has a traditional design that is challenging but fair. The course is tight but it plays long, especially on the par 5s. The rolling fairways are well manicured and the greens play at medium speed and are consistently well maintained. Clearwater C.C. actually has a reputation amongst locals for its superb conditions. It is also popular with visitors, snowbirds specifically, since the club offers the area's only seasonal and short-season membership with exclusive privileges. It is also one of the few clubs in the area that allows walking.

Course needs work!
Greens were in good shape and were fair. Fairways were in poor condition (lack of water & maintenance). Good sand in traps but seems like most regular users don’t bother raking. Rental clubs were subpar for $45/ round. Men’s clubs had no pitching wedge. Women’s set had only nine clubs with only PW & no SW.. Clubs should have been retired a few years ago. Staff was pleasant, but overall experience was a double bogey.
Slow play
They started us on the back 9 and the first 3 holes went fast and then it really slowed down. In fact four groups on one par 4 tee box. Think the reason they started us on the back was to get more groups out..didnt work! Once we made the turn pace was real good
Cart issues
This course is one of the best in terms of conditions of greens and fairways. But any late morning, early afternoon tee times results in lack of carts. We had to wait 30 minutes beyond our tee time for a cart to become available. Also this course allows fivesomes for some reason!! There were 2 fivesomes playing in front of us and they were going to put us out there as a twosome!!! I started asking around all the people waiting to tee off to see if anyone else was a twosome! I found 2 other people to play with us. As it was it took 5 hours to play.
Value for the money.
Had to wait for power carts so tees off a half hour late. Slow for my liking as it was a 5 hour round.
Sand traps need work.
Great Challenging Course
Clearwater Country Club is a great track in downtown Clearwater. The course is in pristine shape and well maintained. The only issues we had were a lack of working bathrooms on the course and didn’t see a cart person.
Slow play
During the first 9 the pace of play after the third hole was really slow, in. Fact on one par four there was four groups!
After the turn play was at a very good pace. Im really wondering if the slow play on the first nite was because they started us on the back nine to get more groups out and then we caught up
Overbooked
Course was overbooked. 7 min tee times. Too crowded. Starter guy was rude and they were short on carts. Couldn’t even get on a cart til 3 min before tee time which eliminated a chance to hit balls before the round. Started raining on 14th hope. Got back and pro shop was closed. Just a bad day at CGC.
Playable Course
Moderately good course and conditions. Pace of play about 4 and 1/2 hours. Very nice staff.
Good Value
The practice facilities were very good which included a range, putting green but also a chipping/bunker practice area. The putting green was excellent but too many times is not an indicator for the greens on the course. Not true here, green were excellent and a “true” roll as well!
Nice layout but still presented a good challenge, especially #8….. don’t leak right or it’s a big score hole!
As for the pace of took 3 hours to play the first nine hole both days I played…asked by a ranger about the play I told him about the back up, he knew exactly which holes the back up was on! Well, why is there no ranger there to help speed up play?
Yes, I will definitely play this course again!

Improved Conditions
Visit Clearwater every February, this course is in the best condition in past several visits. Greens were a little slow, but good condition. Sand traps good, fairways satisfactory. Enjoyed the round and pace of play was slow for front nine, picked up considerably for the back nine.
Loved Clearwater Country Club
We had a fantastic time today playing Clearwater CC. We finished the round in just over 4 hours. The greens were in fantastic shape. All of the staff that we encountered were very nice. I highly recommend the course. It’s a great value for your money. We will definitely play again the next time we come down for Phillies spring training.
Will play again
Front 9 plays slow. Marshall kindly explained it was because of the layout and abundance of water hazards on consecutive holes. Play sped up after that.
Tee boxes and fairways in good condition.
Pristine shape?????? This course is in horrible condition. No one that plays golf would think this is pristine. you must be an employee or a paid responder
