About
Colonial Country Club, located in Fort Worth on the southern banks of the Trinity River and near TCU, is one of the most historic golf clubs in Texas. The club was founded in 1936 by Marvin Leonard, who sought to have a north Texas club with smooth, bent grass greens (unheard of at the time, as many courses had either sand or Bermuda turf). The course was originally designed by Texan John Bredemus and Oklahoma architect Perry Maxwell, who formally worked with Dr. Alister Mackenzie. Holes no. 3-5 are nicknamed the “Horrible Horseshoe” and represent the strongest stretch on the course, featuring a 247-yard par-3 4th hole bookended by long and demanding par 4s. Colonial Country Club hosted the 1941 U.S. Open, won by Craig Wood and was the first time the event was staged in Texas. Despite now playing over 7,200 yards, Colonial maintains a reputation to this day as a ball-striker’s playground. Ben Hogan won the Colonial golf tournament five times. Other multiple winners of this longstanding PGA Tour event include Lee Trevino, Billy Casper, Nick Price and Ben Crenshaw.

Beautiful Course
The course was in excellent condition in spite of the heat. We love to play this course but have to wait until summertime because of the winter rates.

Florida course fun
Was on vacation and picked this course over tons of courses in the area. Very nice, friendly staff, cold towels brought out to us on the course, some tough holes, some fun ones, and some easy ones, would come back!
Tale of two nines
Front nine is a fairly decent layout. Good variety of holes. Enjoyed it. Then came the back nine.
Instant target golf tee to green. Narrow fairways and greens. Only good thing is if you miss the fairway, you can get a decent lie to punch out or hit a shot.
beautiful course,,nevertold about aerification a week ago
Great course but conditions were poor due to recent aerification of greens,fairways and tees . Was never told this important fact . Will definitely go back in a few weeks.

this course was outstanding. staff was great just a beautiful groomed course in the top 2 I ever played in Florida #1Black diamond and I played from west palm to maim and jacksonville TPC
Tough course with generous landing areas
I play here every year on vacation, its $39 in may in the morning and about $130 in season. Amazing course conditions and fast greens. I love this place, easily top 5 courses I have played
very good conditions for time of year...
This was my second time playing the course. The conditions were great. The greens rolled very true and quick. You could not beat the value for the course this time of year. I would recommend playing it to anyone. Word of caution...choose your tee-blocks wisely!
Nice course for the money
One of the nicer golf courses in the area. The practice facilities including the putting green are in excellent condition. They mimic the conditions out on the course. Overall, the course is in great shape. Fairways, rough and greens are good.

Playing off the blue tees you do not need a driver
on each hole as control is required (find the fairway)

Great course, perfect conditions. A must play when in the area
great course
unusual, had a mix of holes from blue and white tees which was a length i was comfortable. Greens were fast but true. Wide open on some holes, tight on others. Watch out for water, bring a couple extra balls, you may roll in as some of the fairways are contoured to roll to water hazzard, so some shots are risky, play them safe.
This course is a challenging
This course was in excellant condition. The greens were moderatly
fast with subtle variations that made long putts challenging.

Played as a single, during down season, which made it a lot faster otherwise. Weather typical for this time of year - hot and breezy. Course in great condition - not dried out. Greens in good shape; fast! Clubhouse and proshop looked first-rate. Didn't use beverage/dining facilities however. All reviews here very good - I would agree
A Wonderful Golfcourse
One of the best Golfcourses we ever playd. You must be straight, not extremly long. Big onduliert and fast greens. We love it.
good value for money
It is a well kept course, quite challenging from the back tees and fair from the more forward tees. It offers good value for money and it is convenient to get to as it is near the airport and near to the city. Every golfer should play it at least once.
One of the best golf in Fort Myers area
This golf course is amazing, located in a condo but the houses are never close to the fairways, so better than a lot of other golfs.
Maintenance is excellent and greens are very quick.
When you are in Fort Myets you have to play the Colonial golf course.
