Great course layout
My GPS was on the course before this new redo of Water Oak, so I didn’t have correct yardages however there are some yardages throughout the holes. Lots of blind shots but the course is in good shape and has lots of grass unlike most Florida courses this time of year.
Not going back
Definitely NOT a Top 25 course!
Layout extremely tight with tees crossing on a couple holes on the back - and one tee shot over a green just yards away.
Starter could not find the twosome I was to play with.
A group slid in between nines. The ranger said they were unaware, verified it, and did nothing about it.
Hills and Thrills
Course is holding up pretty well for the Winter months, with tees, greens and traps in good condition. Despite all the rain, the fairways are a bit thin and hard. The ball will roll forever, especially on the down hill holes. Expect to drive a couple of Par 4's with a well placed shot. Strategic placement is essential to be in the right position for your approach shot. Several holes are close together, and a few stray balls may be flying your way. Overall, an interesting place to play.
Interesting elevation changes, some good holes but needs fairway grass!!!
This could be a real nice course but they cannot (or will not afford to) grow grass in the fairways! Lots of ‘up & down’ holes, forced carry over water on 7 holes, nicely contoured greens in decent condition…but NO grass in the fairways. Only near hardpan & dead leaves. At $40 or less it is OK but not for the $58 rack rate.
All the staff are great, as are the people I’ve been paired up with.
Nice layout
Greens and tees excellent. Layout great. Really beautiful course, except the grass on the fairways. It's winter but the fairways are like playing on dirt.
Fun course
We played Water Oak for the first time yesterday. Everyone we encountered (staff, members, other outside players, woman at the gate, & the couple we were paired with) were extremely friendly & welcoming. The course is an interesting/fun layout with tees to suit everyone. The greens are in great shape - challenging with lots of undulations. The grass in the fairways isn't great (no doubt in large part because it's winter in Florida), and our range finders didn't work since the yardages we were getting apparently date back to the days prior to Water Oak's major overhaul. I must be honest in that we didn't agree with the course's top 25 in Florida public courses rating. However, Water Oak is definitely one you'll enjoy and put on your list to go back to.
Nice upgrade and layout
Course was in good condition for time of year. Growing season should improve fairway grass. Nice layout but some congestion on a few holes.
First time
We were fortunate to play with a fellow who had played there before. The starter was extremely friendly. Course and people were very nice.
Greatly Surprised
I played this course a few years ago. I was not impressed. Since then, a lot of money was put into the course and it shows. The layout is more challenging, The fairways are in good condition considering it's winter. The greens are excellent. We had a great time and we will definitely return. This course is going to be sweet once growing season continues.
Going to be a great little track
The starter told us the course just invested six million dollars and it looks it. They are still working on things by the look but when the grass does grow in this will be a good course for the money. It is a little congested but not too bad, I was playing from the back tees otherwise it would not be an issue at all.
Do NOT Recommend
Paid $76 for 9 holes. End of the day. Why they paired us with another two-some, I do not know. Couldn't enjoy the course or playing because the couple kept picking our balls up and rushing us. I won't be back! Competition is too high in this area. Very disappointed. Didn't even finish playing because I couldn't enjoy.
