Waste of Time
Water Oaks is a course that was squeezed into an older community a long time ago. The fairways are extremely close together and somewhat confusing at times. The greens are small-scale and need tlc. Overall conditions make the decision to play elsewhere a good choice. This course would be overpriced at $10.00.
Very tight course
Good value staff friendly course very quiet it was a cold day
enjoyable and economic
Like the layout. Its got it all , hills- trees-water- wildlife.
Fairways and Greens are in good condition. Enjoyable course to play.
Pleasantly Surprised!
Both my brother and I were pleasantly surprised with Water Oaks. Didn't expect much going in, but we both really like the course. Lots of elevation changes, tree lined fairways. Will definitely come back again.
will be back
it has been a long time since we have played here. took a chance--and we can see the big improvements that have been made---will be back
Interesting course
This course has pretty small greens and was worth the money. It was quite a drive for me, but I was ready to play golf.
ridiculous starter
One of my favorite courses, but with discounted golf rate it took 3 hours to play 9 holes. Waited 30 minutes to tee off on the 10th hole behind 4 foursomes, had 4 more groups waiting behind us while no one was waiting on hole 1. Love the course but won't play again if the rate is under $16, it's just not worth it.
Cramped course
The layout is a little strange with tee boxes and fairways criss-crossing one another. Hard to describe other than to say there is not enough space for 18 holes. The greens were slow but in good shape. One was severely sloped. The fairways were very sparsely covered. Maybe a few less trees would get more sun on the fairways and help the grass grow. It is hilly and has some interesting holes but I cannot recommend it when there are much nicer courses for about the same price in the area.
Twilight Golfer
This is a great value to play twilight golf. This is a tight course with what we call back home suicide fairways. The greens are in great shape. It has some beautiful golf holes and with some TLC on the fairways could become a great course. There is no rough, you basically hit off of dirt. you Texas wedge shots on this course, but it helps your game learning to improvise. I would only play twilight here because for right now the $12 fee is about all it is worth.
Not bad for the money
The course plays tight with many tree lined holes. Some nice views from various holes, some challenging water shots, and up and down on some holes. Rough was not good at all, and greens were small but good and fast. Fairways were ok. Clubhouse was closed for remodeling and they do not accept anything but cash right now.
hit it straight
not the greatest course as far as condition wise but we have a lot of fun playing it--lots of tree lined fairways, staff is always very friendly.
Lots of hills
Fun course good condition. Something different than flat Florida courses.
Small greens, bad fairways
This course looks too squeezed together. Tee boxes & Fairways run next to each other and a stray shot can cause someone else damage. Fairways are very rough with many sand spots. I will not be going back.
not a lot of fun
It was a beautiful day for golf, but not at Water Oaks. The cost for the round was great but we really did not enjoy it. Some of the holes were not fair to the average golfer. They were tight and the trees seemed to always be a problem. Some of the par 5's needed two perfect shots just to see the green. The greens were readable but small. The tee boxes were also small and humped, and in some cases many bare spots. Maybe the course has been busy but there needs to be some work done to improve it.
Water oak
Enjoy the layout but course needs work especially the t boxes Chech in was very slow.
A Gem
You cannot beat this hidden gem near The Villages. Course is challenging and interesting for a FL golf course. Not at all boring and you'll use most of your clubs. Give it a try!
For the cost conscious player
Course had some challenging holes, hidden pins, water, narrow fairways. Greens were extremely hard and fast and seldom held a chip. Nice Spanish moss covered oaks. Course could be beautiful with some money put into it.
