The Club at Eaglebrooke
About
Eaglebrooke, located in Lakeland -- halfway between Orlando and Tampa, is considered one of the premier golf courses in Florida. Its classic links-style design with over 100 feet of elevation change is unique in this part of the state. Natural lakes, abundant with wildlife, can come into play on eleven of the holes creating both spectacular scenery and challenging golf shots. To increase the challenge, there are six sets of tees on each hole. The "seniors" tees were customed designed for the course by architect Ron Garl. Garl requested Senior Golf Magazine to survey seniors for optimal playing preferences and then included these requests in the course design. The atmosphere is first class and the course features bag pick-up at your car. Eaglebrooke was the first course in the US to use Greg Norman's GN 1 grass, the fastest growing and greenest grass available.

Great escape!
I live in East Tampa (Riverview) and in “snowbird” season you have to get off the beaten path. This 45 minute drive is worthwhile year-round. I played Eaglebrooke twice in a week (b/c 1st trip was so good). 1st trip I got out solo and didn’t see a soul until I ran into a 3-some on 14. 2nd trip we got paired but had no waiting, and let 1 group of real ringers thru. Unique and fun layout w/ a lot of challenge but plenty of scoring opps. Good bit of water, varying bunkers, “fun” hazards like fairway palms and “roller” lies. As a “digger” I love the GN Zoysia, big and clean divots… conditions have been excellent. Cherry on top, incredibly friendly, from clubhouse to starter and back. Not always the case when you pull up to semi-private as the GolfNow discount guy. I’d prefer to keep this gem to myself but the course and crew deserve a shoutout. From Tampa or Orlando, worth the trip.
Best of the Best
Play Eaglebrooke as often as possible, always a pleasure, great challenge and course in phenomenal shape.
Review
Course was in very good shape. Fairways and greens. Unlike most Tampa area courses you could actually hit off grass in the fairway. Definitely will play again.
Favourite course
4 of us are over here from UK for 3 weeks golfing. We used to come every year but this is first time for 5 years.
We love this course so much we’re playing it 3 times while here and we’re staying an hour away. It has always been in great shape and has some great and different holes.
The bar and whole set up is great too.
A special mention for Jamie too who was running the cart and just lovely.
A tough course. I’m ready for the senior tees
I’m moving up next time. Might help my score
Great course. Great shape
Bar closed on Mondays
Amazing course
Great design and condition, private club experience for a non-member. Greens rolled really true. Also, great wildlife.
Course was in great condition and greens rolled true. Staff was courteous and had a quick lunch in the clubhouse before playing a second round for a great price of $25.
From the Pro shop staff to the starter and golf cart staff all were very friendly and made you feel like a member for the day
Needs improvements vs price
Course in decent shape… greens a little hairy, fairways good shape, and bunkers not maintained at all. Employees are friendly but for the cost at this course… cart cooler should be full of ice, employees should meet you at entrance to clean and load clubs on cart, clubs were cleaned at end of round, no bottled water sold at pro shop, etc.
My opinion… I wouldn’t pay over $50 to play this course again unless they improved the service and overall condition of the course.
Golf heaven
Fantastic course. Tees and fairways were in great condition. G4reens fast and true. Its a superb layout with 13 and 17 absolute standout quality holes. Staff are real friendly and at 75 bucks great value too.
Shame it could be of been so good.
Unfortunately hurricane Ian had left it toll and the course still had 9 holes closed. We were not informed by golf now that this was the case when booking. The front 9 was played twice and had some nice holes. The second was a good golf hole in particular. The greens were true and rolled well, tee boxes and fairways were ok bThe range was set up for members nicely but guest were just shoved to the right hand side like second class citizens. The guy in the pro shop was very friendly but trying to get served was a nightmare? Every-time the phone rang he stopped dealing with the the people in the shop to answer the phone. No beverage cart going around but more importantly no course marshal to keep the pace of play going. The starter was trying to put a single with us (a 3 ball) rather than add him to another single in front of us sorry but I had to do his job for him and tell him it would make far more sense to add them together. There was no bar or catering facilities open after our round (we finished about 15:15)
It’s a real shame that minor details like this stick in our minds more than the course itself. I will be back to play it to see what the back 9 is like.
Front 9 Only
This was my 1st time to Eaglebrook, mostly due to the greens fees being out of my range, but I had the day off due to the storm and $50 for a Monday afternoon with great weather worked for me. After paying and going to the starter, I found out it was the front 9 only which was a bummer because the back 9 was the reason I wanted to play 18. At the turn, I talked to the pro shop about not knowing the back was closed until after I was in the course and they offered a rain check for another 9 in the future. As for conditions, the tees, fairways, and greens were in good shape considering the hurricane. I’ll be back soon the get the full 18 experience
Good but perhaps maybe Lower cost
Great course layout, not super long even from blue but challenging enough
Only downside is the fee was not reduced for aerated greens , it had been a week since they were done but really greens were not running anyway close to what they would normally .and kind of spoilt the round for 75$
Also due to all the rain holes 8 to 18 were cart path only
Will I recommend YES but take note of my comments , will I be back I’m sure at some point yes !
Thanks great staff
