Great Day! (minus the starter)
Two facts about this course.
1. The maintenance and upkeep of this course is leagues ahead of it competitors.
2. The course starter will be an unpleasant conversation 7/7 days a week. This man is never in a good mood, always short with all guests, and lack of enthusiasm to help new players blows me away.

Starter guy is the worst and rude for no reason
Started guy has no clue where he is placing people on their three starting spots. 20-30 minute wait at one spot no wait at the other two. Has no personality and is rude. Once you get started, the course is great, very well maintained.

Expected more
The practice areas were ok certainly enough areas for a decent pre round warm up.
The course looked like it could be very nice but certain areas just let it down.
The greens looked like they were good but were the slowest I have played in FL this year, they did roll ok just so slow.
One 2 ball holding the whole course up? Radio blasting out sharing a bag of club? One of them kept trying to dance in the middle of the fairway even with no one in front of them but 4 groups (3&4 balls) waiting on the tee behind.
There was no course marshal around to speak to them? This made what could/should have been a sub 3 hour round in to a 4.5 hour round.
The pro shop was ok the highlight of the staff was the lady starter very nice and helpful and the cart girl working very hard to service 27 holes on her own.
Would like to play here when not so busy and the greens have been cut/ironed/rolled.

Nice Course
My overall experience was a good one. A few of the greens need a little work. There was a single in front and no one behind us at 2pm.

Better greens now
Way better greens than a couple months ago. Not perfect, but at least playable now!

Horrible course conditions
I played this course about a month ago. I’ve never seen greens on ANY course in worse shape. Dead grass everywhere, sand everywhere, aeration holes everywhere. Absolutely horrible. Basically once you hit up on the green unless you are within a few feet of the pin, give yourself a 2 put score and move onto the next hole. This course is owned and operated by the city of Lakeland. If the city doesn’t want to put any money or effort into the upkeep of the course, then they should sell the land. FYI city, you have to put some kind of effort & financial contributions into a golf course. I say sell the course if you just wanna leave it in the current condition. It’s really a shame because this course is a few minutes drive from my parents house. But I doubt I’ll ever play there again.

Straight trash
Played here many times. It’s always so/so. Today we sit on the 3 rd tee box and there are 7 groups on 2 holes. We started late. We even explained to the starter that It’s backed up and this can’t be normal . They sent everyone on the same 9. At hole 1 it was out tee time and 4 groups are sitting at the tee . 3 groups at 2 and we were the 4th group on hole3. Obviously I have low expectations as it’s Cleveland heights but then when employees say this is normal . If it’s normal u should quit your job. I’ve played here 100 times and it’s not normal. It’s pour philosophy and they should be ashamed of themselves. It my fault as I chose to come here. Stay away from this trash and find somewhere else to play. It’s obviously a joke today and with how they responded when u try to let them fit it, tells me all we need to know. Te hey just don’t care. Typical city employees that ruin a beautiful game . This place should close off “this is normal”. No where else in Florida acts like this . Golf now

Johnny, we appreciate your feedback and sorry that you had a bad experience. Saturday morning was busy as all the tee times were filled. We got down to 5 golf carts left of our fleet of 100. We have 27- holes, two of the 9 holes is the 18-hole course, and the other 9 holes is for the 9-hole players. We try to accommodate walk-up golfers with no tee time, if possible, by grouping them up with another twosome. We have a hard-working conscientious team that strives to give folks a good golf experience. CHGC was voted the Best of The Best Golf Courses First Place (Lakeland Ledger) the last 6 out of 7 years. Course is Great ... but the Greens right now...
... are the worst I have ever seen them. I know its summer and its been very hot and dry, but several of the greens on the C/B layout are in really rough shape. Lots of bumps and sanded pits in the middle of the greens. I know the rates were lowered for the conditions...but I am afraid even more needs to be knocked off the current rates. We basically came up with an automatic 2 putt rule in our little group and I heard several other people mention the conditions of the greens in the Pub after the round. Its going to take time, but some extra attention needs to be placed on the greens.

Needs work
One of my go-to courses, but the greens are horrible. Not any of the 18 greens we played were in any condition to putt on. You had to move your ball to find a path that had grass. Same thing last year at this time too. Some of the fairways were burnt out too.
I love this course/facility and will definitely be back… I just wish they could figure this out so we could play this course year round without issues.

Excellent Venue
Loved everything about this course except Starter Joe was extremely rude and unfriendly.

Wednesday solo golf
I went on a Wednesday morning by myself. They were nothing but professional from the start and worked with me on getting me out alone. The course was gorgeous, fairways were impeccable and most greens were pristine. There were a couple greens with a little brownish grass but it’s summer in Florida, find better I dare ya!
Top Course to Avoid
Past reviews don’t lie. Greens are in horrible conditions, dry and previously aerated is an overstatement. Just completely dead and patchy where your better off picking up. Slow play is also unreal. Playing Old 18 and it took over 4.5 hours skipping two holes and the foursome we caught up to quit after 14 holes. But hey one free beer after your round to make up for it…

It is that time of year that these applications need to be done, but they impact golfers. The 15 inches of rain in June especially over the past 15 days has had an impact on the surfaces. Terrible
It’s that time of year again. Place is in terrible condition. Greens are borderline unplayable. When will the City of Lakeland actually hold someone to some accountability out there. Such a gem and only worth playing about 4 months out of the year. Greens at Bramble Ridge are 5 Star compared to Cleveland Heights.

Course condition poor
They should be giving aeration discount because greens in such poor condition. Will be a while before they are decent.
