The ninth hole runs only 339 yards, but the dangerous approach must cross a pond. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 03/13/2026

Seen from behind the green, a view of the 13th. This par-3 measures 125 yards and plays to an island green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 03/13/2026

Seventeen is a fine driving hole. Off the tee is trouble both right and left, and the fairway narrows after the prime landing zone. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 03/13/2026

If one hole is most likely to wreck your card, it is the par-4 18th (index #1), whose large water hazard threatens both the drive and second shot. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 03/13/2026

Judging by its pancake-like shell, this appears to be a Florida softshell turtle, who was traveling cautiously from pond to pond across the eleventh tee. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 03/13/2026

A superlative short par-3, the fourth features a raised and well-contoured green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 02/20/2026

At the par-4 tenth, it takes a straight drive to find this narrow fairway. It’s not unusual, though, to find the water. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 02/20/2026

Fifteen just may be the finest par-3 at Schalamar. Measuring as long as 224 yards, it demands an excellent shot for a GIR. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 02/20/2026

2nd Hole: Par-5, 519 yards: The driving zone allows for a slashing drive off the tee, but on the second shot (viewed here) the fairway narrows like an hourglass. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 02/18/2025
-
6th Hole: Par-3, 180: A lengthy bunker nabs misplayed shots to the right and front of green six, as seen from the woodland. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 02/18/2025

9th Hole: Par-4: Although 339 yards, this index 6 hole challenges you on every shot. A hook off the tee spells deep, watery trouble. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 02/18/2025

Running as long as 400 yards, the 10th threatens not only with a daunting array of hazards—water, sand, trees, OOB–but also a tight fairway. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 02/18/2025

This large pond encircles what is virtually an island green at the par-3, 125 yard thirteenth. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 02/18/2025

The # 6-index hole, fourteen features a brilliant design, a trio of well-placed bunkers, and a long, lateral water hazard. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 02/18/2025

Male over 70
This is a nice course but it has been inundated with rain in the last 2 weeks. It is just now getting back to decent shape.
very wet course
the course layout was nice but it did not drain well. The Greens need a lot of work the fairways needs some work.
Great golf after good rain
Played morning after big rains day and night before. Everything was working . Some greens needed some help but they take care of course and had cart path only rule due to excess moisture but no puddlest. since I had one of those in the zone rounds, it didn't bother me a bit
Could be better but overall not horrible
We played after some heavy rains the day before but overall not too bad. Greens are ok but definitely needs some weed control. Lost a couple balls in the fairway due to plugging but to be expected considering how wet. No driver needed for longer than average hitters but trying to hit some of the par 4's from the gold tees is fun. Good iron placement course.
Big Things Do Come In Small Packages
This course is short but extremely demanding. It is the epitome of a shot maker's course with tight fairways, smaller greens, traps and water, and interesting elevations.
The best part of this course is the staff. Each and every person who works at this little gem obviously loves their job and they show it. With their attention to detail, their willingness to assist, and the genuine smiles that always display.
But beware of something. Just because it is only about 6400 from the tips does not mean it doesn't have some really tough holes. #11, 12, and 15 will challenge you. But the finishing hole is long and tight. Par on this hole will lead to a fist pump every time!
ms.
first t under total repair. temporary green so lost that hole. very wet conditions not mowed in a few days short tight course which doesnt really matter I thought this was going to be a better course than it was not bad but in rough condition. Also all greens were being aerated and it did not state that when purchasing so putting was tough as well. I might play again with some women friends but my player does not want to go back tooo tight for him. Oh and it has these middle clumps of grass not sure what thats about (circles of rough grass) but hard to get out of and they are near the green.
nice hidden gem of a course
i am a member of a private club in Tampa and occasionally play this course. As always, the staff and fellow golfers are extremely friendly, which makes this place a joy to play. There is no better value for the money, especially in the summer. You can get lunch and a round for $20 bucks. I was impressed the last 2 times I played, as the starter and ranger remembered my name!...I like the tight layout of this course which enables you to use all the clubs in your bag. The only thing is I wish the carts had a club cover. But that is just a minor issue.
narrow fairways
A good experience and challenge for all levels. Staff is very accommodating.
Shot makers course
Some of the greens were in poor shape in spots, but pace play was good. Very hot and humid by the time we finished up. I will play there again.
had a great time
Traveling through and had time for 9 holes. The staff was great. The course was above average. We moved along quickly. Very nice place to play.
course is well lid out
Played 18 holes on June 19 2014 the course was in good condition the greens were good with only an occasional bare spot great for this time of year played the white tees as I am a senior golfer and had a junior golfer in my threesome. the staff was great and the resturant had good food. our play time was good as there were not many people in front of us. the only down side is the course has 5 holes that are through the development and a little tight. the other 13 holes run through a beautiful forest area with small lakes in abundance. great course for the money
Great challenge!!
Short does not mean easy! This course plays 6100 from the tip but has a great layout. Position your tee shot correctly if you want a direct approach shot into the green. The greens were air-raided and on their way back when I played and if they would have been intact, I would have rated this 4 stars!! A must play, if you are in the area.
This course provides a great challenge.
I would not let the yardage determine rather this course is going to be easy. If it is short, know that something is going to make it a challenge. I love the quietness and the peacefulness of this course. Too much rain is not good for this course.
Great value!
Played the Blue Tees. Not very long. More of a "target golf" kind of course. Plenty of water and traps. Great day!
Great staff and course
This course has some challenges with the front 9 going through woods and the back 9 going through the houses. Lots of water. It has some short par 4's but placement of drives is key. The staff was great, the starter was especially helpful and nice. I definitely will return and recommend this course to others.
Good to Excellent course
Nice tight fairways, little sand, some water. Lost of woods.
Hurry up and wait
Got to the course hour before tee time to hit some on the range. Starter came over and told us we were next up, tee time was for 11:03am it was only 10:38. Now normally not a problem but for some reason we had a foursome just teeing off and a three some on the green. Slow play for the round still can't figure out what the rush was all about. I enjoy playing there however this has left me shaking my head.
fun course
Course is taken care of with friendly helpful staff.
Play there frequently.
enjoyable round
schalamar creek is a well cared for course. it offers challenging holes with rewarding shots.
Lots of water!
The course conditions were good except that it had rained very hard the day before and there was a lot of casual water on the course, we had to keep the carts on the cart path which added to it taking over 5 hours to play.
