The Sanctuary Golf Course at Pennbrooke Fairways

About
Situated less than an hour from Orlando, Pennbrooke Fairways in Leesburg is one of the top spots for golf in Lake County, Florida. There are three different nines available, the executive Meadow and Oaks Courses, and the Sanctuary nine, a regulation course. Like the Oaks and Meadow nines, the Sanctuary has five different sets of tees available. There are two par-5 holes that will please long hitters and they also present some of the toughest challenges. The first par 5 you'll encounter narrows severely at the landing area, forcing you to choose between a safe layup and an ambitious drive. Bunkers are strategically placed throughout and there are also ponds and marshland that come into play. All three of the par-3 holes bring water into play. Pennbrooke Fairways' Sanctuary golf course doesn't have the same walkability the others have due to the 500-foot bridge that spans a protected wildlife area and swamp.

The sanctuary is tough for high handicappers
this 9 is tough for high handicappers but if you hit the ball straight you can score the greens are very good and you can throw the ball at the stick and it holds.
Interesting and fun
A short 65 or 67 par course.
There are three nines, I played The Oaks ( short and narrow, a shotmaker's course. I then played The Sanctuary, very wide and forgiving. A little dry but very playable.
Met a fun couple for a threesome and made new friends
Great Condition!
I've played this course prior to this year and the overall condition this year is so........................ much better!
BETTER THAN EXPECTED
Played Penbrooke for the first time after passing it by a hundred times. We live in The Villages and had to give it a try. Good rate on Golf Now for $14 plus extras= $18.00. Beats the standard $28 rate. Started off on the 9 hole exec (Oaks) which was OK and it you played the tips it could be kinda long and challenging. Greens were nice. Then went to the championship 9. Pleasantly suprised at the layaout and condition. We had a good time. I would go back if the price was right.
This course has a variety of features.
Three different nine holes offers something for all golfers. Friendly atmosphere in a gated community.
fair price
not to bad for the money....good course to practice on using your wedge. We would go back again
review
Was placed in a shotgun...course was crowded...but fun
Excellent for the price!!!
Excellent course for the money!!!!!! Friendly staff and very helpful!
Nice size greens on the course
good course to work on your short game, two of the nine holes are executive length with the third being standard length.
short course
front nine par 30 - obviously mostly par 3's. Sanctuary 9 par 35 - nice layout reasonable challenge
Short but lots of fun
Three nines - one full length and two executive - perfect setup for a retirement community. Good condition and lots of fun - I am a 5 handicap and will go back.
course is in good shape
greens are in super shape, 2 played in just over 3 hours at a very relaxed pace, really enjoyed the round. Staff were very friendly as were the residents around the course.
Enjoyed the course
Done in 3 hours. enjoyed the country setting on sanctuary course. The Meadows was a challenge using my irons overall enjoyed course.
3 nine hole courses - 2 are par 3 courses
Reservation we purchased said our course was the sanctuary course 9 holes - 3033 yards par 35
Tom informed us we couldnt play that course but would let us play the par 3 meadows couse instead
what choice did we have
not a freindly reception or discussion
Did not like this course at all.
They offer 3 nines. One nine is a par 35, the second a par 32 and the third is a par 30. If you play 18 holes they send you out on the par 30 and finish on the par 35. Not good if you are looking to play a standard length course.
The course is in dire need of attention, especially the greens. Will not play this course again.
Short but fun
Course was in the best shape I've seen over the years. Greens were smooth and faster than usual.
good course for the money
I played this course for the first time this week. My wife loved the executive course since it let her practice with her irons and chipping. I enjoyed the challenge, too. The 9 hole Sanctuary Course was awesome. 3 or 4 holes you felt as if you were the only people out there. I will gladly go back. I am looking to see if we can rent (snowbirds) in the park. It was a beautiful place and everyone was super friendly.
