Cinnamon Hill Golf Course at Rose Hall
About
The Cinnamon Hill Course at the Rose Hall Resort and Spa is situated on what used to be a large sugar plantation. Jamaica's past history is still present throughout the golf course in the form of graveyards and ruins of old homes. One of these homes, which can be seen from the second hole of the golf course, is the historic former house of Annie Palmer who was called the "White Witch of Rose Hall." The golf course's layout begins fairly open but gradually moves into the lower elevations of the Blue Mountains, where there is dense foliage guarding the fairways. The Cinnamon Hill Course at Rose Hall is not only popular for its lush landscape filled with historical sights, but also for its challenging game.

Golf in Jamaica
If you are Jamaica and are tired of sitting by the pool check out the Cinnamon Hill golf course. Course is easy to get to and not over crowded. I think October is their slow season. Tees and fairways are in great shape. Greens were in good shape but considerably slower than I am used to in MN. Our caddy Erica (22yr veteran) was phenomenal! Her yardage calls outs very good! She was spot on with my Arccos app. We rent clubs. They had 3 levels. $35,45,55. Nike, Callaway Epic, Callaway Stealth. We did the epics. Which worked fine. Only issue was they needed regriped. We brought our own shoes and balls. The jungle tends to eat balls and they are spendy here.
Rough shape (rentals and greens) still worth it
Likely a bad season for the course. Greens were apparently recently punched, but that wasn't the problem. Greens were 80% sand/dirt, 20% grass. Brutal greens. Nice fairways. Front 9 considerably easier than the back, back 9 gets you into the countryside, a lot less forgiveness outside the fairways. Incredible views, tough course conditions, but nearly no one out there so you can fly through a round. Didn't hate the green fees, but my club rentals were HAGGARD. Still enjoyed my time. Recommended.
Hurricane Beryl
I played this course a few days after the hurricane so of course I didn’t play the bunkers at all. Most of the bunkers were unplayable. My son did point out that there was concrete in the bunkers and there was plenty of it. I have no idea how you build a bunker so I don’t know if the storm just exposed it or not so I’ll give them a pass. The fairways needed some TLC. I’ll also give them a pass because of the hurricane. The layout of the course is nice. Many challenging holes. I don’t have gps available to me and I chose to not use a caddy. Bad choice. Should’ve used the caddy. That would’ve saved me about 10 strokes. Bad enough I rented clubs, on top of the rented clubs I had no distances. There are plenty of elevation changes and enough doglegs that you would be better off with the caddy for at least the first go round. For instance, there is a par 5 on the back 9 with a steep drop in elevation and it has a slight dogleg to it. You also needed to carry a hazard. I could’ve used some guidance on that hole.
Carry enough balls based on your skill level. I’m a 14 handicap and I rarely lose balls. I lost about 5 balls in no time.
The green had been aerated a couple of weeks before and hadn’t recovered from that yet.
Staff was very cordial. I loved the fruit trees on the course. I left with a bag full of mangoes and other fruits.
I would play the course again but maybe later on in the year when the course should
Be in better shape.
Golfing in Montego Bay Jamaica
The staff was great. They came to our resort to pick us up, and took us back after our round. The greed had just been aerated, and could have used some more sand. The rest of the course was well maintained and in decent shape. Some of the holes have fantastic views. The cart paths are narrow and in need of some repair. Overall we really enjoyed Cinnamon Hill.
Excellent conditions
Fantastic views! Nice layout. Only complaint is that there are a lot o& non golfers playing the course. Thankfully the caddies allowed us to play through, but 5 somes were common on this course.
Close to perfect!!!
This course has some of the best views of the ocean on the front 9 and some of the best views of the jungle on the back 9, that alone is worth the money, starting easy on the front 9 and challenging you on the back 9, good for all skill levels, I highly recommend this to all golfers, feel free to take a none golfer with you to roll with you to enjoy the views and take pictures and video of your play so you don't have to, and slow the game play.
Best luck on you're game, hope you enjoy the course as much as we did if not more.
Great vibes at a great course
Very challenging, very beautiful course with the world's friendliest folks.
Too hot for comfort
The course is beautiful, with significant elevation changes. Several holes are played along the Caribbean Sea. The fairways and bunkers were in excellent shape. However, several greens showed signs of stress. There was evidence of the beginning of disease. The layout is challenging, but fair. Playing this course in July brings in heat as a serious factor. It was brutally hot and I had to hydrate repeatedly. Overall, I enjoyed the round despite the temperature being over 90 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s a very nice golf course. I’ve played it multiple times through years and will continue to play it when I visit Jamaica.
Very Good Golf course
Friends and I visiting from the USA and Canada played the course on 6/03 & 6/04 and found it was in great shape although it rained several consecutive days leading up to the weekend. The golf course has some very scenic and some challenging holes. We used Golf Now .com which helped with the cost as normally 18 holes cost anywhere from $125 and up which is pricey.
Cinnamon Hill has some very good caddies.
With several large groups playing on Sunday the starter seemed overwhelmed and there was a glaring lack of communication We enjoyed playing Cinnamon Hill and will go back again.
A word of caution ...to visiting golfers to the Montego Bay area, rule out Half Moon as they overpriced for a less than average golf course and customer service is atrocious.
Cinnamon Hill golf - fabulous day!
We had a wonderful day golfing - our Caddy Warren was absolutely amazing and knew the course extremely well. We will definitely be back next year!!
Cinnamon Hill
Excellent course with breath-taking views from almost every hole. The staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. If you are lucky enough to have Whitney as your Caddie I can almost promise he’ll take 5-7 strokes off of your score with his knowledge of this fantastic golf course.
A one off but great fun
An expensive round but as a one off, worth the money for the experience. Sea view holes are great and a different task in the hillside. We had a pretty grumpy caddie who was increasingly more interested in looking for balls he could sell (including our lost balls!) than helping us don’t think that is typical.
So much fun!
We had a GREAT time, booked a hot deal for $50 per person and man were we lucky! Paid the extra $15 plus tip for caddy. WELL WORTH THE MONEY!!! Unfortunately we got rained out on hole 12, but we will be back to finish the course for sure! Best course/most fun we have had playing golf on vacation!
