BlackHorse Golf Club - North Course
About
The environmentally friendly Blackhorse Golf Club in Cypress was designed by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy, who teamed to build one of the best 36-hole, daily-fee facilities in Texas. Designed to maximize the natural setting, this beautiful complex is a perfect setting for golf with its huge variety of oaks, elms, and wetlands that provide habitat for a wide variety of bird species. Holes 4-6 on Blackhorse Golf Club's North Course generally get the best of high handicappers. Holes 4 and 5 route through massive trees and expansive wetlands, both playing over 400 yards. No. 6 is the North Course's signature: a 180-yarder that tees over the bend of the creek to an elevated green enhanced with railroad ties and framed by bunkers.

Blackhorse North
Course was in Great shape, even with the greens being aerated, they were very well manicured. Hats off to the grounds crew.
Great Shape after 3 days of Rain
Played on Friday after rain total of 8 inches on Mon-Tue-Wed, and course was dry overall with only about 5 holes limited from carts; and even those were dry. Greens in great shape; fairway grass very nice; which cut-down distance off-the-tee; thus made the course longer than it appears on the card. Huge greens give ample opportunity to get on. A good bit of sand on the course.
Always in great shape
Always enjoy playing Blackhorse - North & South courses. Played the South on this occasion and it was in phenomenal shape. People could learn to repair their ball marks, and those around them, but that’s ALWAYS been a problem.
Beautiful course, not so traps
If bunkers are present, then they should be raked the night before next morning.
Superior Venue
Everything about this course is first class. Course conditions are excellent and staff is friendly and responsive
Nice couse
The North course is more open and less shady than the South course. Fairways and greens are in excellent condition. Great value.
Great condition - no drinking water
Course was in amazing condition. Only complaint would be that there was no water at the drinking stations and on a 97 degree day it was needed. Also, the cart girl never came around which would have helped with the lack of water. I will come back though.
Beautiful Course
North course is in great condition. Fairway grass in front of #5 green is under repair but doesn’t affect play.
Great Course
Excellent course for the beginner, intermediate and advanced players. Multiple tees and layout is great for all.
Best Public Course Yet
Hands down, this is the best public course I have come across in the states of Louisiana and Texas.
Slow Pace, No Course Marshals Anywhere
Great staff and food/beverage, course was in good shape. Need to pay to get the course marshals back out there, though. We were a quick-playing 3-some held up by 3 singles back-to-back-to-back, who wouldn't join up together. They were all waiting on a foursome 3 holes ahead. We quit after 14 holes, didn't get our money's worth but didn't want to play until dark. No marshals anywhere to assist. Oh, except the 1 single starter (for both courses) to make sure you paid your greens fees. Escalante Golf Management, sad.
Awesome course
Played the North course for the first time, it was in great condition and the greens were in excellent shape....very long golf course so if your playing from the tips bring a snickers bar, cause it's going to be a long day for you. Great deal on golf now!! Staff was truly helpful and friendly!! I will return again in the near future. Oh and we finished in 4hrs and 20 min, not bad!!
Great lay out
Good mix of trees and water. Challenging long tight par 3s. Bunkers in good condition. Good pace of play possibly due to it being Mothers Day, has been slower on previous occasions. All staff very friendly.
