BlackHorse Golf Club - North Course
About
The environmentally friendly Blackhorse Golf Club in Cypress was designed by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy, who teamed to build one of the best 36-hole, daily-fee facilities in Texas. Designed to maximize the natural setting, this beautiful complex is a perfect setting for golf with its huge variety of oaks, elms, and wetlands that provide habitat for a wide variety of bird species. Holes 4-6 on Blackhorse Golf Club's North Course generally get the best of high handicappers. Holes 4 and 5 route through massive trees and expansive wetlands, both playing over 400 yards. No. 6 is the North Course's signature: a 180-yarder that tees over the bend of the creek to an elevated green enhanced with railroad ties and framed by bunkers.

Great Course
Excellent course for the beginner, intermediate and advanced players. Multiple tees and layout is great for all.
Best Public Course Yet
Hands down, this is the best public course I have come across in the states of Louisiana and Texas.
Slow Pace, No Course Marshals Anywhere
Great staff and food/beverage, course was in good shape. Need to pay to get the course marshals back out there, though. We were a quick-playing 3-some held up by 3 singles back-to-back-to-back, who wouldn't join up together. They were all waiting on a foursome 3 holes ahead. We quit after 14 holes, didn't get our money's worth but didn't want to play until dark. No marshals anywhere to assist. Oh, except the 1 single starter (for both courses) to make sure you paid your greens fees. Escalante Golf Management, sad.
Awesome course
Played the North course for the first time, it was in great condition and the greens were in excellent shape....very long golf course so if your playing from the tips bring a snickers bar, cause it's going to be a long day for you. Great deal on golf now!! Staff was truly helpful and friendly!! I will return again in the near future. Oh and we finished in 4hrs and 20 min, not bad!!
Great lay out
Good mix of trees and water. Challenging long tight par 3s. Bunkers in good condition. Good pace of play possibly due to it being Mothers Day, has been slower on previous occasions. All staff very friendly.
Excellent Course
One of the best public course in the area. Great layout good for beginners or scratch golfers.
Texas golf
Great course with just enough difficulty. Play the North course if you can. South is okay.
Great Course and layout
This is one of the best publiccourse In the metropolitan Houston area.
Great public course
I played the North course on a perfect spring day for Houston. The front 9 make you think about club selection and the back 9 is more wide open. Both front and back have plenty of bunkers to keep it interesting. Fairways and greens were exceptional for a public course. We had to wait some but finished in 4 1/2 hours. The rourse is not walkable as there are some long distances between some holes.
The grill was nice with very helpful staff but it was really echoey loud. I would have liked to have a craft beer or two on tap but they had a good assortment of can beer if draft bud/miller is not your cup of tea.
Blackhorse North
Very nice course with an excellent staff. Golf pace was excellent. Great course condition.
Areas Best
We had another great outing @Blackhorse. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in great shape. The bunkers were well maintained, according to my golfmates. The course layout is conducive to an excellent pace of play. Love the updates to the clubhouse and grill area.
Nice course!
Nice day with a little rain. Course was wide open due to forecast. Staff was great. Played the north course. Scored well but greens were a little slow due to the rain . They rolled good though.
Nice 19th hole with nice bartenders.
Good Course
I prefer the North Course over the South Course at Blackhorse. But both courses are a gem in the Cypress area north of Houston.
Challenging but fun course
The course was in great shape and the pace of play was good (just over 4 hours on a weekend). We played the North course which was challenging on a windy day so pick the right tees to play for your ability. Overall a good experience on a good layout.
Best golf course layout
Very nice course that is challenging from tee to green.
