BlackHorse Golf Club - North Course
About
The environmentally friendly Blackhorse Golf Club in Cypress was designed by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy, who teamed to build one of the best 36-hole, daily-fee facilities in Texas. Designed to maximize the natural setting, this beautiful complex is a perfect setting for golf with its huge variety of oaks, elms, and wetlands that provide habitat for a wide variety of bird species. Holes 4-6 on Blackhorse Golf Club's North Course generally get the best of high handicappers. Holes 4 and 5 route through massive trees and expansive wetlands, both playing over 400 yards. No. 6 is the North Course's signature: a 180-yarder that tees over the bend of the creek to an elevated green enhanced with railroad ties and framed by bunkers.

Pricing themselves out of play
I use to play out here quite often. Unfortunately they are pricing themselves out of play. However with all the tournaments they book they might not care. Played for free since my buddy picked up the green fees as a birthday gift. The South course is the better or the two and more scenic. The North course is great on the front nine but the back is wide open and very boring. They are not an $85-$100 a round course, especially with as much as it floods and the pace of play. Too bad since they use to offer an acceptable rate but if you can find a steal on Golf Now check them out.
Blackhorse
I wish the cost of Blackhorse fell within my golf budget, but usualy $100 is out of my range. Nice course, the south is a bit more scenic where as the north has some links style to it
Great experience
I was supposed to play the North Course at 8:50. Arrived 30 minutes early to find out upon check-in that I had actually booked a tee time at 11:30. Mike checked us in and immediately tried his best to assist us. After looking at options, he sent us out to the South Course right then so that we could get started in front of a tournament that was to start at 9:00. I was so appreciative of his efforts to help me out after I’d made the mistake on the time. Great customer service!! The course was challenging, fun and in great shape. Will play there again and definitely recommend it to others.
North course
Good layout
Bad customer service and marshaling
Weekends here are not worth the money
What a cluster.....
Should have known something was up when I drove up and there were teenage golfers all over both courses. When i checked in - they told me I could start anytime that the tournament should be over soon. I was scheduled to play the South course but after waiting 30 min after my tee time, I went over to the North course. There were many golfers waiting as well. Finally someone from the pro shop came over and got everyone lined out but it was painfully slow - especially since it was a Monday. There was never any mention of a golf tournament either until I showed up at the course. I'll wait until after 'kiddy' golf season is over before going back again. Very disappointed......
The North Course
I always try to play and suggest the North Course. The South Course is always a “hit or miss” with conditions. Other than that, Blackhorse will be recommended.
Lost
Course in good winter condition. Just wish my game was. Club house & driving range well stocked. Greens little bumpy but in good condition. Will play again when I find some control of my ball again.
Windy Day at BlackHorse
A lot of good things, my review observation would be if I was paying full price - the course is over priced and many areas of the course need ground work.
Practice
Very nice course some nice challenges on the front nine then get a break on back nine. Enjoyed the day
Black horse golf course
I love this course- it’s always in good condition and the staff are so friendly..
Jan. 11 golf
The course was in excellent shape, greens well managed and fast. This made for a wonderful day of golf for a novice golfer.
Blackhourse
I played the north side today. The course is finally off cart paths except for 3 holes. The course is very wet from all the rain we have had in Houston. The course needs a lot of dry out time. But other than that, the course is in good shape.
Visit
2nd time for me - just passing through Houston. Fairway has too many soggy patches.
to Wet to play!
I love this course ! Today was cart path and a few hole was a 150 yard mark as it was to wet..should have played $30 to play.”(
My first time player
Course was fun to play but I have never played in wind like that.....and I just got back from playing in Scotland....
Played in a tournament so pace of play was slower then usual. North course is nice but not as challenging as the South. Front nice is the better and more scenic of the two. Course was in good shape but they are starting to price themselves out play for the average golfer. Need to rethink their green fees.
Disappointed
Golfed Friday morning the day after thanksgiving. Course was soaked and it was cart path only but when I made my reservation which was $109/person there was no mention of this being cart path only, if there was I would have booked elsewhere because I was with my grandpa and it is hard for him to walk all around the course. As course was soaked, you would think $109 would at least get you a towel and some ice.. we didn’t get either and had to deal with dirty clubs and balls. Very disappointed in Black Horse
Overcrowded golf course
The Hott deal I purchased online was worth the value to play the course but I will not be paying full price $85+ for this course. Let me first say that the staff is extremely amazing and great customer service. Tough was thick and very hard to play or just lose a ball. I went the day 2 tournaments were playing so the entire course was backed up. Then the staff let four twosomes tee off which backed up the course even more. The staff tried to accomidate and let us play the south course to finish out back nine but caught even more traffic. Almost a 6 hour round. Not sure if it was the tournament or the regular crowd but all greens had I repaired divot marks and players dragging their feet.
Nice course, but pace of play was terrible.
Course was in good shape, but the pace of play pretty much ruined the experience. We ended up skipping a hole and going around one group only to get behind another slow group. Definitely not worth the price when you have to wait 5 minutes before every shot.
Play south course if you can .
Nice day of golf . This was my second time on blackhorse golf course and my first time on the north course . I definitely prefer the south course , no sand in the bunkers , quiet noisy due to the main road close by .
But the course in general is nice to play . I’ll come back !
