BlackHorse Golf Club - South Course

Course in great shape. Pricey at 100 plus. 5 hours and 15 minute round on Saturday afternoon. No marshals or any concern for customer service once they have your money. Quite a drive for most plus painfully slow.

This course was in excellent condition. The South course gives you a challenging layout with tight fairways. The par 3’s are fair for players of all caliber, with 2 of them where you must carry your tee shot over water. The par 5’s are quite difficult but with a good 1st and 2nd shot you’re able to make a score. The facilities and staff were friendly and in top shape. Really enjoyable course and the grounds are great for any golf enthusiast.

I play black horse at least twice a month

South course has always been my favorite but it has now become almost a muni

Tee boxes and fairways need attention.

Greens are ok but harvesting grass from the fringes makes the course shabby.

And charging $100 on weekends for a course that should be $50 to $75 max in its current condition is just wrong

Had no food shack, and saw beer cart once at 14th hole.

From the moment I arrived this was a pleasurable experience. Staff was extremely friendly and professional. Course was in great shape.

Course getting into better shape since winter was so wet; green rolling great & fairways improving with better weather!!

Always have like the layout of Blackhorse South, some challenging tee shots & tricky shots in the quarry... hole 16 not a favorite but unique.

4.5 hour round. Two groups on every tee box the entire round. No marshall presence until back 9. Addressed with the group causing the issue but didn’t change anything and didn’t ever come back around. For the golfers, play ready golf, pick up your ball and move on after triple bogey, keep up with group in front of you!!! Your ruining golf for everyone by playing so slow!! Course was in fantastic shape!!

Some very tough interesting holes, not for the feint of heart! One of our foursome could only play 9 holes and they would/could not accommodate., saying they had no way to monitor . I think they should - charge for 18 and give rebate when you come in after 9 - pretty simple. Would play again, A bit pricey if not prebooked

Course is in great shape all around. Made a couple of birdies. Almost a hole in one! Hit the flag and bouce back to a foot. What a fun and beautiful day.

Playing on the South course with NO halfway house, and it's too far to the club house. I would like to see the cart come around more often than just when I'm starting, and then on 17 when finishing. Ended up not getting anything because of the timing, my opinion, the South needs the cart more than the North because you have the halfway house at the turn on the North. This has always been a problem since the closing of the South halfway house, otherwise, the BEST public course in Houston.

This was my first visit to Blackhourse South and it’s already one of my favorite courses in the Houston area. It’s a shotmakers track which forces you to use all of your skills. The food and staff was equally enjoyable. Looking forward to my next visit.

It is an amazing golf course! Even the day before was a heavy rain day, the fairway was espectacular!. The course is challenging most of the time but perfect suitable even for a beginner or expert golfer. This was my first time but I’ll come back again more frequently, for sure! It is a “must” if you love to meet new (and beautiful) golf courses!

South course was in an O. K. Condition for the most part. I believe the north course it is in a much better condition.

It was a bit wet out there but the greens were ok and the fairways were cut so so no complains here but the north course it is in a much better shape.

1st time on the south course. Very good conditions for mid January! Greens were great!

My only complaint was the 19th hole restaurant was closed at 4 pm. Don’t know why but I was looking forward to their great food. I had to settle for a Hoppadillo and some peanuts.

Really enjoyed the course, price and helpful staff. Would definitely return.

I have played this course before and my impression of today’s round was that the course has had a bunch of rain and looks as such. Carts had to stay on the paths which was not ideal. Greens were okay. Wish people would repair ball marks. Overall it was okay.

Very nice course, especially for fall conditions. Nice club house.

I do have two suggestions: I wish they had a weekday cart girl on the course. And no access to the south course restrooms, as doors are locked. This can (and was) a inconvenience, as this accounted for a few missed shots. Please consider granting access for those patrons playing on the backside of the property.

Cartpath only but understandable after two days of rain.

Still very playable with great greens and traps.

Fairways thin but usually great during summer and fall.

Play both Course-fun and challenging.
