BlackHorse Golf Club - South Course
About
The South Course at BlackHorse is known for the sand quarry that was ingeniously worked into the layout by the design team. Particularly on the back side, the wetlands and sand features come into play prominently and create a totally unique setting for golf.
Getting there : Take Hwy. 290 west to the Spring Cypress exit. Go south (left) under Hwy. 290 to Old Hempstead Hwy. Turn right and drive .5 mile. Turn left on House & Hahl Rd. Then left on Mound Rd. and right on Fry Rd. The entrance is on the right.

South
Awesome facility. Great driving range, beautifully maintained fairways and bridges. Conditions of the greens was fantastic. And it was a beautiful day!
austex
best public course in Houston Texas. i have played almost all of the publics in Houston area and this one beats them all. Fairways and greens are in excellent shape and some of the par 3s are really demanding as for shot location. Golfnow prices make it affordable on a weekly basis.
Great Course
Despite a great deal of rain in Houston, this course was in great shape. The greens were outstanding. Front 9 is a little nicer than back 9 but overall a really great course and facility. Excellent practice area and range balls are included in the price. Highly recommended.
Excellent Course
Given the recent rain, the course was in great shape and provided a challenge.
Blackhorse
Great conditions. Pace of play was slow but overall good experience.
Black horse south
Awesome fairways and tee boxes. Greens could be quicker though. They need to be cut more frequently.
Great!!!!!!!
The staff was great from the Pro Shop to the Starter to the Cart Girl. From time I arrived I had the feeling they were glad to see me the Pro Shop checkin was smooth and friendly clean carts awaited me just outside I was playing as a single the Starter was able to send ne out with a threesome slightly ahead of my scheduled time not like it was some demand to fill a vacant spot but more as a ccourtesy the fairways had the proper amount of grass to allow a great lie on every shot and the greens ran fast and true the Cart Girl made her rounds timely she was nice and respectful to play as she approched the group mysterious disappearing act just fast service with a smile
Bring Your A Game
This is a tough course and you must use every club in your bag. The greens were in fantastic shape and they rolled FAST! No problem with pace of play. Our foursome finished in 4 hours and we had a great time.
Course in great shape
Course was in good shape and greens were very good. Fun to play and challenging. Would highly recommend
all around nice round of golf
For this tome of year, good condition, well maintained.
Good conditions for the time of the year
All good except the slow pace of several groups and no marshals around...
Course is in good shape
I've played both north and south course, which both are in good shape no matter it is summer or winter time. You won't be regret to pay this course a visit.
Best Cost for the Price
For the deal we received, you could not pick a better course. For it to be winter time, the greens were superb. The pace was great for a day that many people were out playing. There were several challenging holes (Island greens). One of the nicer course in the Northwest side of town. Well worth the price.
Good Conditions - No Marshals
All was good except the pace of play was terrible as there were no marshals out and no one to keep pace up. There were two groups that were playing very slow and no consideration for others.
black horse south
Challenging for good golfers yet forgiving for not so good golfers. Bring your flop shot. Can't imagine playing from the black tees. Blues were more than long enough on most holes.
Back horse south
Couse was in great shape for this time of year.
Bussiest Monday in ten years I was told at pro shop. We had a great time with this challenging coarse. Nice place to play. Will definitely be back.
Wonderfull course.
I will return to play the north course. The south course is a great challenge. Don't let the short yardage fool you into thinking its a cake walk.
Rude proshop staff
Bought the round through golfnow. When ask about the warm up range ball the staff states " you getting free golf so you don't get range ball". I let him know the price it cost me and it isn't free. The staff Bobby still insists that I did not pay the golf club directly therefore the round is free as far as he is concern thus there is no range balls. I'm not sure what part of near $50 per person per round for three that he did not understand? IT IS NOT FREE ! I had to walk out the pro shop to end the argument. I'm not rich by any stretch of imagination but I had paid upwards to $250 and as little as $10 per round yet, never had I been treated so rudely. Note to BlackHorse boss: get rid off Bobby, at least have some customer service training done please!
Great shape for fall golf
The course was excellent with the exception of one aggravating item, the pin placement guide was wrong.
Both the starter and the sign on the first tee said pin placement was #3. However on approximately 6-8 holes the pin wasn't in position #3. On several holes the pin was the exact opposite of where it was supposed to be, eg #3 should have been front but the hole was actually in the far back of the green.
The south course has many raised or elevated greens with undulations or ridges. Not necessarily a big deal if you're close enough to see where the whole is but if your hitting from a ways out it made it hard to select the right club.
Very nice course
Played on thursday, over all experience were good. I would go back again.

It might be helpful for Kevin to read the receipt slip provided by Golf Now which states there are no free range balls. Don't get mad at the help for doing there job. I have found them to be courteous and accommodating , especially when my tee time was lost and they found a spot for me on a very busy day. By the way, the person who did this was Bobby.
