BlackHorse Golf Club - South Course
About
The South Course at BlackHorse is known for the sand quarry that was ingeniously worked into the layout by the design team. Particularly on the back side, the wetlands and sand features come into play prominently and create a totally unique setting for golf.
Getting there : Take Hwy. 290 west to the Spring Cypress exit. Go south (left) under Hwy. 290 to Old Hempstead Hwy. Turn right and drive .5 mile. Turn left on House & Hahl Rd. Then left on Mound Rd. and right on Fry Rd. The entrance is on the right.

Nice Course and overall facility
This course can be a little pricey but it is a great course in very good condition. The South course is challenging but still allows for the average golfer to enjoy the round. This course will test a variety of your shotmaking abilities. Play this course during the week for a faster round. This is a must play course in northwest Houston.
Should be Better
I heard some really good things about Blackhorse, and I was really excited to play. Apparently, it is one of the better courses in the Houston area. But, when I played... I was deeply disappointed. Maybe my expectations were too high. They had just worked on the greens, so nothing rolled true, and the greens were so slow. The ball jumped around like a 4x4 going through a forest. I wish they would tell you such things before booking a tee time. Even if the greens rolled true, overall it was an average course. It is overpriced for the quality.
great round
the course was in great condition. One of the more challenging courses. overall, i had a great experience.
best conditions this year
have played this course a handful of times. It is in fantastic shape .greens are pristine.
The course was in phenomenal condition, and played very well. Greens rolled smooth and soft. Only con was "cart path" only due to rain the day prior.

Excellent Course
Had to play cart-path-only due to heavy rains the day before and found some bunkers had well compacted sand - as expected. Otherwise, the course is in great shape. The greens ran true and at nice, playable speeds. All in all a fun experience.
Nice course
Everything was great. Was allowed to go to the north course since it was not being played much due to an earlier tournament, allowed me to finish before the rain. Maintenance crew was cleaning up debris and fallen trees from an earlier storm. Course was wet in places but played great. I would have liked to have been given more range balls to hit.
One of the best in Houston area for years!! Great condition.
Better than average. Only problem, I got behind a five some that told me that it was all jammed up in front of them so they could not let me play through, I was a single!!!!
So, I got to sit and wait in the heat of the day, watching this group of 5 not play ready golf!!!! If 5 players are allowed to play, then they must play ready golf, go to your ball, don't wait on the other player, and hit yours!!
When I got the chance, I could see there were no golfers in front of them, they were just sorry!
