About
Located in Nuevo Vallarta, El Tigre Club de Golf enjoys views that stretch to the western Sierra Madre. The design team of Robert Von Hagge, Mike Smelek, and Rick Baril transformed what used to be a flat piece of land into a lush, tropical paradise. Nine water features were added, which come into play on 12 holes, and the terrain was molded and contoured to provide interesting elevation changes. The golf course's proximity to the ocean means that it is also subject to strong prevailing winds, especially in the early evening. The course finishes with two of its most difficult holes. El Tigre Club de Golf's par-3 17th has plenty of sand and water in play to prepare you for the beastly par-5 finishing hole. This 621-yard monster is practically a par 6 with water down the entire left side and a green surrounded by sand.

Golfer Reviews
Fooled again...
Ironically, I signed up to play here because I was told the conditions at the marina were pretty poor, and the pace of would be very slow. The conditions are pretty poor and the pace of play is very slow. But this was $100 more expensive, so it's got that going for it which is nice. The GPS system on the carts is one of the worst I've ever seen. It adds an extra degree of frustration to an already frustrating round. If you want to play golf in Puerto vallarta, and you cannot either get out to Vista or get on to the four seasons, go play at the marina. At least you'll save the money.
Nice views
Bit expensive for the shape it is in, dry and greens were brown.
Disappointed
We tried to check in 2 hours early as we hadn’t played in 2 months. We were told that we couldn’t check in until 40 minutes before our tee time. However they only gave us one voucher so after trying to get a cart, we were sent back to the pro shop for a 2nd voucher. After this debacle, we were left with 25 minutes to warm up.
The drink carts only had beer & hard alcohol, no juices or mixed drinks.
By the time we finished, everything on the course was closed, which was disappointing.
Great Course!
I had a great round here, even with my high handicap. Beautiful course, not for the faint of heart. Lots or bunkers and sharp turns. The water features everywhere are super challenging. I recommend playing a round here!
Good layout, poor pace of play
We played El Tigre recently on a trip to Nuevo. Overall we like the layout although the condition of the course was not what we expected. Greens were fine, tee boxes poor and fairways acceptable. We were behind two slow groups so played in just under 5 hours. The Gps kept saying we were behind and might need to skip a hole but no marshal was to be found to enforce that on the slow groups in front.
Course layout
Enjoyed playing Tough layout with water surrounded many greens. Played twice now and will play again
Price
It was fine until the gentleman I was paired with told me he was able to get a price $50. Less from Golf now.
