Palmilla Golf Club - The Ocean/Arroyo Course
About
Jack Nicklaus designed the 27-hole course at the One&Only Palmilla Golf Club. The golf course is divided into three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The courses wind through endless cacti and through deep arroyos, a landscape that Nicklaus fully utilized. He gave each a unique character, naming them after their defining characteristics. The Ocean/Arroyo Course starts you off with incredible views of the shimmering blue waters of the Sea of Cortez. Each hole on the front nine offers a different, but equally scenic view of the ocean. The gently sloping Ocean nine has large greens that can be tricky but they are balanced by wide, player-friendly fairways. The back nine features more dramatic elevation changes, especially on the intimidating 16th hole, which plays alongside a deep and foreboding arroyo.

The ocean nine might be the most scenic of the three loops at Palmilla. Photo submitted by JasonDeeganGA on 02/12/2014
That was Great!!
We just tried oneday!! But IA was Excellent..
So we played 2 times more...during the vacations.
Great course great ocean view!
The ocean view course is to die for. I received a great deal and the weather was great! I would recommend this course to anyone.
Great course- quick round. Beautiful
The course was gorgeous, and in amazing shape. we had the course to ourselves (it was hot even at 730am in June)!
Worth every penny- looking forward to playing it again next trip to Cabo!
Golf course is in great shape with fantastic oceanside views
golf course was in excellent shape and views by the ocean was great.
Fun in Cabo
A must play course when you visit. Course hard but fair if you make good shoots. Sand traps in play around a lot of holes. Ocean course very visual, and will test your skill level. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Great place to play
I grabbed a hot deal through GolfNow.com the day before I played. I had planned on playing somewhere in Cabo while on vacation but the rates were too high for my budget. It seemed that this course would add a hot buy for a single tee time a day or two earlier so watch for them. Without the discount I would not have played. On to the review -
This course was in great shape. Each hole was interesting with unique shots. Lot's of elevation changes and depending on your tee box selection you have to carry a good distance off the tee. There were many holes you had to carry over water or scrub areas off the tee or on your approach to the green. There were 5 sets of tees stretching from 4800 yards for the ladies to about 7,000 yards from the tips. I played the Gold tee's (second set) and had a blast. Lost a few balls but, eh it was fun. I parred all 4 par 3's for the first time I can recall. I would play again if I had the chance.
I played as a single (which was fine) and I got around in 3 hours with no delays, except for taking photo's.
It was a hot day but they loaded me up with 5 waters and an icebox. The staff / starter were very nice.
Excellent experience.
Had a great time playing this course. I would recommend to take advantage of the practice facility that face the ocean and well set up. The course is in great condition that will reward you with fairway hit. Only one hole was going toward ocean really but that does not matter.
Excellent course
Fantastic course and a challenging layout. Great views but had hoped for more ocean holes. Small pro shop building but all is new and very clean with professional staff.
Picturesque and challenging
Fantastic course - some great ocean view holes on the ocean side and a bit more tricky on the arroyo. Course is in great shape from tee to green - fast pace of play and easy to lose balls. Play early - it gets hot!
Ocean course a bit disappointing
Played mountain and ocean courses. Ocean course was more mountainous actually. Played Bajamar up by Ensenada many years ago....THAT. Is an ocean course.
Overall Palmilla was just a little overhyped in my opinion.
Better be able to get off the tee
Gorgeous course, well kept, nice people. I played mountain/ocean for the gold tee box, a little over 6600. I think all holes had at least 50 to 175 yards carry. I am a 15 handicap, not a long hitter and found the course very challenging but fair. Definitely play it again but probably move up a tee box.
I was expecting more from the clubhouse.
This course has challenging holes but is fair for average golf ears
This course was is excellent shape. The greens were a little firm but running true when you picked the right putting line. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The views on the ocean course are great.
Long Hitters only
Beautiful views, great condition Most tees other than red and white require a significant carry over desert or baranca to get to fairway, and sometimes to the green
Overall wonderful experience
was worth the money
Great practice facility and the course was in great shape. Youget a yardage book at the start and pay careful attention to the yardage as some tee boxes need the right club or you will fly the farway if the shotis not shaped right. Clubhouse is small like most I've seen so far here. Just a pro shop and small canteen. Nice clean washroom as well.
Beautiful course
Palmilla was absolutely beautiful aesthetically. Staff VERY friendly and attentive. Not overly difficult to play which
I find enjoyable for "vacay" golf...did not get beat up, yet was challenged enough!
Excellence in resort golf
The course has a great compliment of difficulty without being unfair. There are many of bunkers, however, they are placed to defend the greens, but to not deter you from making a good approach shot. The greens rolled very well. Traps could be more uniform, some were great sand, however there were some that were more like dirt than sand. Tees and fairways and greens were in great shape.
A good challenge for any level player
I am female and played the white tees on the Mountain/Ocean courses and had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. The course assistant at the range before play shared some helpful insights as to the roll of the greens in Cabo. A little pricey even for a resort, but enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere at check-in, the scenic views and the beautiful landscaping. Course in very good condition.
Very good, but expensive
As is true for most all golf in Cabo, IT IS EXPENSIVE! Palmilla is a great desert golf course. Try to include the ocean 9 into your round, spectacular!
Course with some great views
We played the Ocean/ Arroyo combo. It wasn't too busy. Especially on the second 9 we were pretty much on our own. The Ocean 9 had some stunning views.
