Palmilla Golf Club - The Ocean/Arroyo Course
About
Jack Nicklaus designed the 27-hole course at the One&Only Palmilla Golf Club. The golf course is divided into three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The courses wind through endless cacti and through deep arroyos, a landscape that Nicklaus fully utilized. He gave each a unique character, naming them after their defining characteristics. The Ocean/Arroyo Course starts you off with incredible views of the shimmering blue waters of the Sea of Cortez. Each hole on the front nine offers a different, but equally scenic view of the ocean. The gently sloping Ocean nine has large greens that can be tricky but they are balanced by wide, player-friendly fairways. The back nine features more dramatic elevation changes, especially on the intimidating 16th hole, which plays alongside a deep and foreboding arroyo.

The ocean nine might be the most scenic of the three loops at Palmilla. Photo submitted by JasonDeeganGA on 02/12/2014
Ocean / Desert golf
Greens were just sanded so it would have been nice to know this before. A few water holes and lots of desert if you miss a tee shot. Nice homes around course but enough nature to make it interesting. Will come back again.
Beautiful Views, Fast Greens, but hold well
The staff is very friendly, and the course is in great shape. The pace of play is great, and there are some fabulous views from holes on all three 9's (the Ocean course being some of the best).
Nice course - but a bit expensive
Need to add a few mod cons like the other courses around the area. Eg. GPS tracking in golf buggies.
Expensive compared to what the other courses offer in the area.
Beautiful course!! Staff first class.
This golf course is beautiful and in tip top shape. The views are breath taking. We played the Ocean and Arroyo courses. The staff was first class.
Beautiful course, holes near the ocean had exceptional views!
BEAUTIFUL COURSE. HOLES NEAR THE OCEAN HAVE EXCEPTIONAL VIEWS. GREENS WERE VERY FAST AND HARD TO READ. I GOT A LOT OF GREAT PHOTOS. FLOWERS WERE BEAUTIFUL!
Great course & challenging greens
Palmilla always offers a great golfing experience. It has a few long par 4's and some extremely challenging greens that just leave an average golfer wondering how the ball actually moved the way it did.
fantastic conditions, view and staff
This is one of the most beautiful courses I have ever playede
This course is great!
Always a pleasure to play Palmilla. Excellent facility and fabulous location. The scenery is sometimes distracting, it is so beautiful!! Fabulous practise facility.
Good test of golf
We played the Ocean/Arroyo 18. The course is in very good condition and has great views of the ocean and surroundings. Greens rolled very well.
Not worth the money
Decent course conditions, but shoddy golf cart and path conditions. Few if any course distance markings. Felt like cattle being driven through.
They appear to be living on a past reputation
Palmilla is good golf, but Cabo del Sol is better
When I arrived at the "clubhouse" I was surprised to see a small golf shop/half way house. This is a 5 star development? Thankfully the golf course is well built and layed out for some challeging golf. I played the Ocean and Arroyo nines. Both nines are in good shape, but some of the fairways need some water. The "Ocean" course is a bit misleading as there is only 1 hole that plays up to the water. The Arroyo nine has some great tee shots from the Gold tees. The greens on both nines were consistent.
I could not justify paying the the full rate here, but if you can get a twilight rate or last minute deal, take it.
For my money, pay the extra dollars and play Cabo del sol Ocean and Desert.
Ocean/Arroya very scenic and challenging.
Course was very enjoyable to play. Had to wait a long time to get a golf cart which redueced our time on the driving range. Golf carts in poor condition and I would have expected better for the amount of green fees that are charged.
Beautiful course!
Played the Ocean-Arroyo course twice. Great vistas. Immaculate conditions everywhere. Incredible value ($80). Look for best rates beginning 30 days prior to playing.
Beautiful varied layout
Played all 3 nines over 2 days great layout and a variety of different looks. Great elevation changes, some waterfront views, and plenty of desert landscape comes into play. The stark contrast of the pristine turf and arroyo is beautiful.
Chicago Guy goes to Cabo
Very impressive track. Many different looks, beautiful views and vegitation. Greens were soft. Practice facilities were decent. Couple short par 4s that had good risk reward. Definately playing this course again when I return to Cabo.
Awesome course, awesome experience ...
I have been playing for only two years (novice/intermediate). It is my first time and didn't score well, but enjoyed the views and course. I played OCEAN AND ARROYO, Ocean is great to play, I like it better than Pebble beach with less wind and wider fairways. It's a lot of fun...
This course was worth playing.
The Clubhouse was a bit hard to find, but once there the staff was welcoming and attentive. We played Ocean/Arroya and conditions were perfect on both nines with some awe-inspiring views. Played from the appropriate tee box, it was not overly difficult and my wife found it to be very lady golfer friendly. I booked this as a prepaid hot deal so we played for half the price. What a deal!
Great views and nicely kept course.
Great value if you can play for under $90! It is a nice course, but there are better in the area...
Must be consistent driver or you will get killed. To be honest I play gold tees and it is very difficult from this length.
One of my favorites, play mountain/arroyo. Beautiful views
Excellent!
Excellent course. Do not miss if staying in the area!
