Marina Vallarta Golf Club
About
Marina Vallarta Golf Club is known for its stunning tropical landscape that is home to an abundance of wildlife. Golfers have the opportunity to play amongst iguanas and alligators while enjoying scenic views of the Bay of Banderas. The course is blessed with a bevy of natural hazards including towering palm trees, lagoons, and waterfalls. Colorful tropical flowers and native vegetation further accent the landscape. In addition to the natural hazards, there are also a few strategically placed bunkers along the greensides. The golf course offers a challenging but fair test that is not overly demanding, which is probably for the best since it is easy to get distracted by the beautiful surroundings. Given its versatility and scenery, Marina Vallarta G.C. has become a popular venue for various golfing events, including the Governor's Cup Pro/Am Tournament.

Beware of the Crocs! Photo submitted by dharvey13 on 07/19/2016
Always fun
From the tips the course is a good challenge. Not your typical resort course. This is a traditional layout.
Staff is accommodating and friendly. Great value on Golfnow. The only negative is the greens are a touch slow.
Fun to see crocodiles
Great course. Fun to see crocodiles as bonus. It's very expensive tho. The twilight rate is reasonable if you get in 18. But $140 US is a lot. I've played top courses in the Canadian Rockies for the same or less, and they are more beautiful. But regardless, it's a nice course to play with some very scenic holes.
Pace of play
Course is good. Beer and drinks a little pricey. Took a later tee time to get a good price. Teed off at 2:20 and had to play the F9 twice to get in before dark. Got through 9 and saw a lineup on the 10th tee.
Worth playing, best deal in PV
We had lunch prior to play and the food was good and well priced.
The Course: practice facility is basic warm up area and irons only, turf was beaten due to range small tee deck. The layout is generally fairly open except for the second or third tee from the back tee deck it looks like hitting it through a window to a smallish fairway on the short par 4 which was basically driver wedge. The 3rd is a long beatiful hole out to the ocean and the the 4 th a mid length nice par 3 along the water amd that was the last of the ocean holes. The rest of the front nine is pretty nice but not spectacular . When you continue on the back nine, I think the golf course really shines. Memorable hole after hole. Visually difficult and looks tighter than it was. Really enjoyed the overall experience but we much preferred the back to the front. Apparently the nines were flipped some time ago and my Garmin didn’t recognize that but you can just figure out that 10 is 1 etc. on the gps.
Condition: fairways are decent tight Bermuda , rough is fluffy wire like Bermuda. Greens slightly grainy consistent with local grasses and is well groomed healthy and found them somewhat slow approx 8-9 estimate on stimp but rolled true except for a wobble when the ball is slowing. Bunkers very average dark brown local course sand.
We enjoyed the course we will play again the back nine is not to be missed on a warm PV afternoon. HCP 2 and 17
Always a nice change
Played as a foursome. Greens were in great condition. Great views, scenery and crocodiles. Staff are always kind and pleasant. Restaurant is very good pre and post round. On this particular visit, we caught up to a FIVEsome of guys around hole #12. Saw a Marshall on hole #13…..thought he would have intervened and possible had them let us play through. Or the group themselves had been courteous or golf savvy enough to do so. But no, probably because we were two couple? But our lady’s would have beat any of them. . Still a fun round.
Golfing trek
Course is in decent shape. Greens were also good. Tough layout if you haven’t played it before.
Staff are always pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was quick and good.
Continue to enjoy this course
While a little less challenging then El Tigre or the Vista Vallarta courses. It is in pretty good shape and the pace of play was great 3:15 Minutes. I paid $113 and would recommend at that rate.
