About
Vista Vallarta Golf Club offers two championship courses, one designed by Jack Nicklaus and the other by Tom Weiskopf. The Weiskopf Course provides a dramatically different round from the Nicklaus design. The other golf course sits atop the property's highest elevation while this one is situated at the lower west end. As you step onto the course and see the dense jungles that sprawl across deep ravines, you will hardly believe that it is still the same property. It offers the same level of challenge as the Nicklaus Course but some high handicappers prefer this one since there are fewer blind shots and the greens are more receptive, making them not quite as tricky. The 15th is an uphill par 3 that is probably the golf course's most memorable hole. This challenging hole requires a carry past a ravine to multi-tiered green that is surrounded by bunkers on all sides.

Vista Vallarta-Weiskopf review
I played this course numerous times over the past two months. It is an excellent course with wonderful conditions and surprisingly very limited play. Some of this I'm sure is impacted by the pandemic, but for some reason Pto Vallarta does not seem to be a golf destination. If you like speedy rounds, you will be in heaven here. It is located about 25 mins from most hotel locations in a hilly area. The course uses the terrain to maximum effectiveness, to deliver both challenge and fairness. The greens are the only area of the course that could be improved, with faster speeds. My only negatives are: 1.) for a course charging up to $200+, forcing you to buy drinking water seems a little cheap in my mind, and 2.) do not use your American Express card to pay for your round at any of the VV courses. They charge a 10%+ surcharge (not disclosed) to use these cards due to inflated exchange rates charged when they convert to pesos. American Express cards can only be prosessed in pesos. Use a MasterCard or Visa which can be processed in US dollars with no surcharge.

The 2 courses at Vista Vallarta are the 2 best in PV.

Course was in perfect condition. The greens are challenging and a caddie would be a definite help in reading them. This course is more difficult then the Nicklaus course.
Beautiful Setup !
This is in my top 3 courses now. The setup in the mountains and with the jungle around is amazing !
There are a lot of changes in elevation making the landscape beautiful. Play smart and you will have a lot of fun. A great experience. Will try to play it again before we leave Vallarta !

I played with a friend and we had an afternoon tee time after the PV Pro-Am finished play. It was like we had a private course...didn’t see another player until the 18th hole. Course was in great shape...tees and pin placements were extremely tough due to the tournament. Staff was great...only thing that could have made it better was if I played better but that wasn’t the fault of the course! Highly recommend!
Beautiful day at beautiful course!
First time playing. Had played elsewhere in PV this week. Vista Vallarta was in much better condition! Greens were fantastic, rolled pure, firm enough to make you work but could hold the ball. Didn’t need caddy—paid $2 for the course map in clubhouse and that was enough. Challenging layout but fair. Par 3’s were not crazy long from blues which is nice. Would definitely play again next time in PV!

Course is in great shape, and amazing views. For some reason the inexperienced staff pulls the pins so there is no flag to look at from the fairway
Bring your clubs to Puerta Vallarta
This is a great course, cut out of the jungle, with a lot of changing elevations. The course is in great shape. I highly recommend Angel as your fore caddie, he saved us a lot of stroke on the green. It’s a very scenic course, near the foothills of the mountains. Met some great people on the course. Bartender makes a great limeade and vodka. The practice facilities are wonderful, too.

I play this venue every chance I get. It's always a great experience. Excellent facilities, great staff, and two pristine golf courses. If you get the chance to play here, you'll really enjoy it.
