The Golf Club at Dove Mountain - Tortolita/Wild Burro

In early December, 2021, I had the pleasure to play the golf club at Dove Mountain again. It was the 2nd time I played it. Four years ago, I played it for the 1st time when I was driving from Austin/TX to Irvine/CA, and fell in love with the place. I simply love desert golf, the environment, the giant saguaro cactus, great condition of the course, very friendly staff, plus the fact that most of the time weather is beautiful in Arizona desert in the winter. I guess I probably love desert golf more than links golf.

Course was in fine shape for December in Tucson.

Not crowded during the week.

Classic desert layout and vibe similar to other Tucson courses I played

Relatively wide fairways although my playing partner and I (both first time playing the course) made comments about not knowing that spaces were available. Some spots were hidden.

Everything was top notch from the carts to the range to restrooms.

Expensive but this is a case of getting what you pay for.

It’s a very nice course but not in as good shape as in recent years. So I am not sure it warrants the high greens fees it charges. Example—a greens mower had an oil leak and left a great many oil marks on greens. I see that at my crummy course but would not expect that at a high end course. And traps not in great shape

Terrible greens.... Some of the roughest I have ever played.

What an experience! Beautiful scenery and a well manicured golf course are available to the general public.

Dove Mountain is very challenging, so be prepared if you are just an average golfer. Multiple tee boxes can help you adjust hole length as needed. Highly recommend you try it at least once if you are i n the area.

Not many people playing today and restaurant closed at end due to private function. A little disappointing compared to previous visits

this place is crazy nice. the day was perfect, the course in excellent condition and I got paired with a nice 3 some of guys from Canada that were really fun. the start asked if I'd ever been there and when I said no I was surprised to hear him say, 'this course is really hard so be careful out there'. it's difficult for sure but much of that is because it has some Nicklaus surprises lurking for those that have never played the course - fairways that can be hit through but don't look it, etc. great place, nice area, will definitely go back.

We had a perfect day weather wise and the course conditions were great. You need to be aware that this course was designed by Jack Nicklaus and he made it challenging. You have to lay up, get out of bunkers that are over your head and offer up a few balls to the gods of the desert. You need to remember to look around and appreciate the day you are having, and then go back to your realization that Jack was a real great golfer and you are not.

This course is spectacular, could hardly concentrate on my game as I kept taking pictures and admiring the views. Pace of play was fantastic and the staff are amazing a real treat

Been away from AZ due to COVID glad to return to DOVE great track greens were a little patchy but throughly enjoyed the day

down to AZ for annual trip and HAVE TO PLAY DM. the course was a pretty and challenging as always BUT the Greens are NOT in good shape at all. for the money there are courses that are not going through bad greens issues. That being said the course is a MUST PLAY just disappointed that the greens were not good. The undulations are what make these greens and when you are putting them and adding mine field conditions it makes it very difficult.

The layout is ok , the rought and the fairway is 4/5 but the greens … the worst greens in the Arizona … we paid 150$ us for this course … and the greens are 1/5 … the speed is not the same on each hole .. the roll is not good and the quality is horrible … it seem to need water …

Go to Ventana canyon or Mountain for this price !!! Sewailo is better too …
