About
Long and susceptible to the wind, White Stone Golf Club rolls through an impressive Hill Country-like setting with huge oak trees, lots of rocks, and loads of native oaks, cacti, yucca, and wildflowers.
Bunkers are everywhere on this 7,100-yard Jeff Brauer design, and water comes into play on about seven holes. The key to scoring well is keeping the ball below the hole, avoiding nasty downhill putts on the extremely fast greens. White Stone's par 5s are tough, and average golfers should probably play them conservatively and be happy just getting there in three, since three out of four are fronted by hazards and require carries.
On the front nine, no. 1 tests you early -- it’s a 555-yarder with a creek that crosses the fairway and forces a layup on the second shot. No. 9 is nice as well, a 360-yarder that should be played with a short iron to lay up in front of the creek. This hole features a nice dip in the center of the green that requires knowing the correct pin placement.
White Stone Golf Club's back starts strong like the front, opening with a 580-yard par 5 with a sloping fairway that is cut by the creek on two occasions. No. 11 is the best par 3 on the golf course -- a 200-yarder that plays dow hill over a creek and into a creek surrounded by bunkers.

Disappointed
Too many temporary greens. Fairways are thin. Mowers followed my group on three of the first eight holes and were mowing next to the green as we tried to putt on #8.
Course personnel were very nice but no marshal to control pace of play.
Overall, disappointing.

Under new management
They have put a lot of time and energy into this course it was well kept a d they have cleaned up the areas that have gotten overwhelmed with weeds and trees. We will be back again.

Whitestone
Most of the course is in fantastic condition. However … 7 holes had temporary greens. But from what I could see all 18 greens were playable. I don’t get it.

Beautiful Course!
I play in many different states and this is one of the nicest courses I have ever played. From the Tee boxes to the fairways and especially the greens were some of the best. Layout of the course has a little bit of everything for the beginner to the pros. I can’t wait to play this course again .

Time to open the greens
Clubhouse lacks appeal. Course layout is top notch. Temporary greens could mostly go as originals look ready to go with the exception of one or two. Lets access the greens that are ready

Open up the Greens!!
We played yesterday & Whitestone had 7 temp greens & I still don't know why as the regular greens could be played on. Open up the greens, fellas!! Good track, good staff & good value....just let us play on the real greens instead of only 11 of 18.

Improving
The course is great!! Greens a getting closer to being playable, the greens staff is doing a great job of getting them back in shape! I look forward to playing here when they are in top shape

Temporary greens
Front night condition was great, loved it! Back nine however, totally different. 6 temporary greens and fairway problems. The past bad weather caused a lot of damage. They are trying to repair, will just take time. Probably would have waited to play if I would have known ahead of time. Will play again, just not until better shape!

Buyer beware
There is absolutely no reason this course should be charging $55 per person. 7-8 of the greens were temporary, and one of those was completely brown. When in normal conditions it could command $50 per person, but certainly not now. Avoid for the foreseeable future!
That’s fine, we all understand that the freeze did damage, but that should be abundantly clear when booking outside your site.Otherwise just feels deceptive.

Greens
Love this course. But had quite a bit of damage on the greens, especially the back 9. We ended up playing front nine twice.

Recommend with an asterisk
If you walk during the round, keep in mind that it is an uphill walk between holes 10 and 11.
Popcorn in the clubhouse, one bottle of water for each player, and cold towels available were nice touches.
The price i paid is after discount and with taxes included. Make sure when you decide whether to play this course the fact that temporary greens are on holes 7, 10, 12-16. Ergo pin position as exists on the scorecard is nonexistent at this time.
A lot of holes have wide open drives present.
Forced carries can/do exist on #5, #7 (usually but not now), #9, #16.
Small ditches can play a role on #12 & #13.
I only recommend playing Whitestone if you have friends playing there, it's convenient time or location wise, or if you're not paying full price.

Deceptive and Shady with Canned Meaningless Apology
This course is garbage and they took premium $$$$ not telling people it’s torn up and garbage greens.

Lots of Temp Greens
They should have an alert about all the temp green and no help with yardage. Total waste of money.

Temporary greens
5 or 6 holes had temporary greens. A couple of the holes had the fairway’s tilled. I understand the is for the good of the golf course long term. I just wish it was posted somewhere so that we would know what to expect. I guess this is why it was a hot round. Since the green fees were low I won’t complain to much. So overall the condition of the course matched the lower green fees. I will be back but I will wait until the course has time to be repaired.

Even though the back nine greens are under construction this course is great to play. The staff was up front about the course condition and offered the option to play the front nine twice.
