About
Long and susceptible to the wind, White Stone Golf Club rolls through an impressive Hill Country-like setting with huge oak trees, lots of rocks, and loads of native oaks, cacti, yucca, and wildflowers.
Bunkers are everywhere on this 7,100-yard Jeff Brauer design, and water comes into play on about seven holes. The key to scoring well is keeping the ball below the hole, avoiding nasty downhill putts on the extremely fast greens. White Stone's par 5s are tough, and average golfers should probably play them conservatively and be happy just getting there in three, since three out of four are fronted by hazards and require carries.
On the front nine, no. 1 tests you early -- it’s a 555-yarder with a creek that crosses the fairway and forces a layup on the second shot. No. 9 is nice as well, a 360-yarder that should be played with a short iron to lay up in front of the creek. This hole features a nice dip in the center of the green that requires knowing the correct pin placement.
White Stone Golf Club's back starts strong like the front, opening with a 580-yard par 5 with a sloping fairway that is cut by the creek on two occasions. No. 11 is the best par 3 on the golf course -- a 200-yarder that plays dow hill over a creek and into a creek surrounded by bunkers.

Buyer beware
There is absolutely no reason this course should be charging $55 per person. 7-8 of the greens were temporary, and one of those was completely brown. When in normal conditions it could command $50 per person, but certainly not now. Avoid for the foreseeable future!
That’s fine, we all understand that the freeze did damage, but that should be abundantly clear when booking outside your site.Otherwise just feels deceptive.

Greens
Love this course. But had quite a bit of damage on the greens, especially the back 9. We ended up playing front nine twice.
They are working hard on repair he damage.

Recommend with an asterisk
If you walk during the round, keep in mind that it is an uphill walk between holes 10 and 11.
Popcorn in the clubhouse, one bottle of water for each player, and cold towels available were nice touches.
The price i paid is after discount and with taxes included. Make sure when you decide whether to play this course the fact that temporary greens are on holes 7, 10, 12-16. Ergo pin position as exists on the scorecard is nonexistent at this time.
A lot of holes have wide open drives present.
Forced carries can/do exist on #5, #7 (usually but not now), #9, #16.
Small ditches can play a role on #12 & #13.
I only recommend playing Whitestone if you have friends playing there, it's convenient time or location wise, or if you're not paying full price.

Lots of Temp Greens
They should have an alert about all the temp green and no help with yardage. Total waste of money.

Temporary greens
5 or 6 holes had temporary greens. A couple of the holes had the fairway’s tilled. I understand the is for the good of the golf course long term. I just wish it was posted somewhere so that we would know what to expect. I guess this is why it was a hot round. Since the green fees were low I won’t complain to much. So overall the condition of the course matched the lower green fees. I will be back but I will wait until the course has time to be repaired.

Even though the back nine greens are under construction this course is great to play. The staff was up front about the course condition and offered the option to play the front nine twice.

pace of play
no marshal on the course. Had a 4 sum ( beginners) which made it Veryyyyyyyy) slow.

Borderline unplayable
I like this course. It’s in my hometown and I haven’t played it in a year or so. I guess the winter storms in DFW absolutely destroyed the greens here. 7 temporary greens and I was no aware of it prior to arriving at the course. You have to really search for that info on GolfNow which is also frustrating. They act like they’re giving you a “deal” for the senior rate when 7 greens are temporary. Oh well

Lots of course maintenance going on
I think 9 temporary greens, 12 out of 18 holes had some type of ground under repair. Greens that weren’t temporary were punched but not sanded. Would hold off from playing this course for a while.

Recently played the course after not playing it for a while. Used to love the course! I understand the greens were damaged during the winter freeze, but to have to pay full price on Golfnow is not right!! Golfnow needs to be informed of this and adjust the price. Please investigate now Golfnow!!!

Do Not Play Here
Half of the greens are 100% unplayable and the other half are 50% playable. Just avoid this course until some day in the future if they get the greens fixed. Course should probably nbe shut down for a year.

Greens are F’d Up
Almost all greens have no grass, just hard pan dirt, sucked…

Work in Progress Greens
The greens, like almost everyone else's, took a beating with the brutal winter, extremely wet spring, and sudden hot summer we have had. A lot of them had dead, bald spots on them. There were two temporary greens, and the regular ones looked close to ready so they are working on it. Other than that the fairways were in good condition, and the staff was great as always. Unfortunately, I can confirm the bunkers are in good shape as well. The design of the course and the routing is under rated.

Still Recovering but Beautiful
The course is still recovering from the winter freeze we got earlier this year, like many other courses in the area. I have it a 5 star overall because of just how gorgeous the course is., how considerate the staff is, leaving free popsicles and cold towels for players to help with the heat. Range balls included in green fees and a gorgeous driving range to hit them on. Many of the greens still have some really bad dead spots but they are at least improving by from the last time I played here a few months back in the PTSD Hero’s tournament. Some of the fairways are still hardpan so I do think a little TLC is needed on the course aside from the obvious repairs to the greens, but even with all of that, the course is so beautiful, so well laid out and possessing the right amount of challenge for any level player that I think it deserves 5 stars to avoid deterring players from coming out here. It may not be in the best shape now but you can tell that when the course gets a little love, it is easily one of the best courses and organizations in the metroplex and surrounding areas.
